If you are a low roller like myself and don't get totally comped rooms, it usually pays to call to book even if you have offers online. Planning a November solo trip and my offer online for Aria was:

    $50 Resort Credit
    Wed - Comp, Thu - Comp, Fri - $169, Sat - $169, Sun - $103

Called VIP services and I got:

    $50 Resort Credit
    $50 Freeplay
    Wed - Comp, Thur - Comp, Fri - $85, Sat - $85, Sun - $85

I have about $9,000 coin in across mlife this year. That's 2 trips and about 10 nights.

Funny I just got on here to say the same thing about TR...Stupid me threw away my code for the free night i got for signing up with the TR visa. So I called to see if they could still give it to me. Instead i get two nights rather than one plus 30 in food credit..Score!!!!

That number usually does not mean much - other than an indication of a somewhat low roller.

They always count coin in or dollars bet.

Woah!!! That's some serious compage for only 9k coin-in. I am getting offers for 4 free nights at V/P, $300 FP, $75 food credit, and a limo to and from but that's with an insane (by comparison) coin-in: $69,941

That's what I was thinking as well, especially at Aria!

Yeah, I couldn't believe my online offer that Aria was only about $80 more total than mirage. With the rates VIP services gave it is cheaper. Of course I didn't check what mirage would be through VIP services.

This must be a slow week, I looked at a bunch of November dates and these dates were the cheapest.

Great job Flig, and run with it! We are mid-rollers, and I've been shocked to find Aria has consistently treated us better than many mid-tier hotels, even though it seems they shouldn't...and this has been our last 4 trips. Just a great, reliable property, who has been surprisingly generous to us...I'm excited for you.

You know the phrase, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, run with it, enjoy it, and consider it another Father's day bonus! :)

(PS 3 days of BBQ? Nothing to apologize for on that....unless you skipped the brisket!)

No experience with MLIFE offers after a stay but I guess I will find out after my first visit in September to Mirage. For that trip I emailed a host and he is providing limo service, penthouse, fb and matching fp from Cosmo.

I have always been reluctant to call reservations because of the upselling I have encountered when doing so with other motel chains. Perhaps I should reconsider.......

I don't know about the reservations line but VIP services has never tried to upsell me. The most they have done is ask if I need show or dinner reservations, but no pressure.

Interesting, might have to give them a call. My upcoming trip all I could get were discounted rooms, maybe VIP can do a bit better for me.

    Fligster,
Thanks for posting this. I have had similar experiences with VIP services at Mlife. I have had fairly decent offers, but sometimes get a better quote if I call them directly.

I have never had a VIP rep try a hard upsell, either.

p.s. That's a pretty good rate at Aria with limited play! I know Aria is stingy with the back end comps, but the up front offers can be a good value considering the quality of the property and the rooms. Woot!

Completely agree. I went last weekend, Fri-Sun which happened to be during EDC, and called and got Friday night free, $135 Saturday. I'm very low roller, so I honestly think it was partially an error, as my quoted rates were higher at Excal and NYNY. But I took it in a second.

..... And just tried calling VIP to see if I could get a better offer than the casino discount rate that I have online.... no dice. I guess my days of comped rooms at Aria are over?
