Yeah I did a bunch of research and it seemed like PH met most of my needs but then I started seeing lots of horror stories just recently, so I switched to Mirage.

Mirage is a great property that has aged well. You will enjoy your stay there.

Haven't stayed at PH, but have stayed at Mirage a few times and have my next trip in October booked there. Can't beat the Mlife offers - staying 5 nights, paying for one. (plus resort fees of course) Have to agree that this property has aged very well and I love the pool area.

I don't dislike Planet Hollywood but I've stayed at both and I'd take Mirage over Planet Hollywood for $200 extra all day long and twice on Sunday.

I've also stayed at both, and PH is no slouch, but I'd also personally prefer Mirage. I don't have anything bad to say about PH, and the Mirage rooms are admittedly kind of small, but Mirage's restaurants and pool are better, in my opinion.

I think you did the right thing. IMO PH is more fun when solo and Mirage much better for a couple.

I'm probably way over thinking this but after the mask mandate was announced I was able to get a Palace Premium King room at Caesars for less than the standard King room at Mirage, so I switched to Caesars, hopefully it was the right move.

How does Harrah's stack up vs. Mirage? I guess another way of putting it, if I'm ok staying in a Harrah's room would I be ok in the Mirage? Thinking of switching over to M Life and do like the Mirage location quite a bit.

i stayed at PH in May. I'll preface this with saying that PH is my preferred hotel, so i may be biased.

The nightmare "issues" weren't an issue, at least for me. Are there more people hanging out outside? Yes. Has this always been the case because of the location and layout? Yes. If you want to say it's worse now than before? Eh - I don't think so. I never felt unsafe.

I love PH's rooms specifically because you're guaranteed to get a mini-fridge. PH is also in a GREAT location if you love to casino hop - it's crazy easy to get to Paris, Bellagio, Cosmo or Aria... even Flamingo, Bally's, Park, NYNY all seem like easy walks. Mirage just seems more distant and isolated (even if some of that is perception). And what is up there trends more high end - which isn't me (and sounds like isn't you).

the pool is the pool. it is not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. it's just a pool. there are no bells and whistles. it has water, it has sun, it has beer. for some that's better (i'm 40 - i don't need the party pool scene anymore). there's no doubt mirage's pool is better and if you're looking for more bells and whistles in your pool? yep, PH isn't the place for you. but if you're looking for a hole in the ground with water and sunlight? it's got that covered.

the cheap food options are plentiful at PH thanks to the mall. probably the number one reason why i stay there. i don't need to spend a ton on food every meal. when i do vegas i want greasy, unhealthy bar food and alcohol in abundance... i.e. the things i don't do at home. it's an escape, after all. i get more of this at PH.

now this is where, unfortunately, i have to knock PH a bit... they used to have a bunch of 3:2 $15 tables located between the party pit and the heart bar. those are gone. I was hard pressed to find any $15 tables - and certainly nothing at 3:2 (which started at greens). this is a strip problem, though - not necessarily a PH problem. you're not going to find low limit 3:2 at Mirage, either (although you should find them next door at TI).

this is the one thing that is having me rethink my stay at PH - I want to be able to give them play, but I just couldn't stomach it last trip. i played one 8 deck shoe at a $25 table, got pissed and didn't give them play for the rest of my stay... so my comps going forward will surely take a hit. oh well. that debacle (along with about 90 minutes of all you can drink happy hour at Blondie's in the Miracle Mile) got me to get on the bus and head downtown - where i spent pretty much my entire friday night and saturday. so if an good came from the upped limits, that was it.

but yea - PH sounds more up your alley than Mirage. You're not going to go wrong with either based on your stated likes - but I wouldn't switch for $200 more. take that $200 and put it on black.

I stayed at both recently. I liked Mirage but its bathroom ruins my experience. The bathroom is very small and outdated. For a guy like me, I enjoy my time in the bathroom so PH is a better option.

Update: Just stayed at Planet Hollywood. The checkin (diamond checkin room still closed) and room were ok.

    However...
The casino was pretty trashy in areas, figuratively and literally trashy/dirty, even on Sunday night. Cigarette butts, ash, cups etc. on the floor/machines, dirty machines.
Definitely more so than I'd seen in the past and more than the lower tier MGM properties I visited.
The mask requirements were also not really enforced there.
They also took out a big bank of ~30 old slots I liked near the entrance by the old "butts" sculpture they pulled out. That whole area is just empty with some JLo Instagramable fake subway thing...
Probably won't stay there again any time soon.
Have a feeling it will be sold, will see what happens...

I agree I feel like that is the property they are going to sell and they have it limping along until they can sell it.

    Another PH anecdote here.

Was playing the beerhaus slot near one of the entrances yesterday. This dude came through the area smashed a bottle on the trash can near me. Started running towards entrance. Karate kicked a sign multiple times until it was decimated. Proceeded to do the same thing to one of the glass doors on his way out. Fortunately the glass door survived so he didn’t get injured.

This was at like 3pm. The guy obviously looked like he didn’t belong in the place and frankly I only point it out because I just don’t see this with frequency at other locations. I’m out on PH at this point. May go in for BurgR but to be honest I’d rather just avoid that area entirely and go to Holsteins or something. GR/Caesars really need to move that restaurant.
