    My Trip Report

Leaving work in about three hours to drive home, grab our luggage, say an extra long goodbye to our 18 month old (my parents flew out to watch him), then drive down to AUS for an 8:10pm direct flight on Southwest. Our first real getaway just the two of us since wife got pregnant a couple years ago.

I’m going to miss that baby a lot but I’m also excited for a break that’s longer than a few hours. We have no family in this area of the country so we only get a short break when someone flies out to visit and we can go get dinner or something, which is not too often.

While I want this to be a live trip report, we’ll have to see how it goes. I think semi-live is the most we can expect since I want to feel zero obligations or responsibilities. Only reservation or set plan is dinner at Hell’s Kitchen Sunday for our seven year anniversary.

No rental car, so mostly just wandering the Strip playing and drinking along with plenty of pool time and maybe a trip down to Sahara to check it out at some point.

Currently trying to decide if I should do the online pre-check-in at Mirage to make sure we avoid any holiday weekend Thursday night check-in lines or if we wanna take our chances on that with the hopes of an upgrade at the desk. Thoughts?

Enjoy your trip! You deserve it. And Happy Anniversary!
I remember the first time we left our baby girl after her birth. I think she was 10 months old. Definitely missed her, but a break is always good!

I'm not that familiar with Mirage, so no input on the online check-in.

Left work early, stopped at bank for bankroll and tip money, finishing packing while waiting for wife to get home so we can head to the airport. Flight leaves in five hours!

@PSM The general consensus about the kiosks (and my experience supports this), is that while they're a significant time saver, you should only use them if you need "a room" and are fine with whatever it gives you. If you have any preferences whatsoever, see a live person.

    Thanks for the heads up!

First win of trip: got to airport hour and a half early and not one person in front of us at security.

Second win of the trip: bought this $12 beer flight to kill time and they are twice as large as I expected. Killer deal for anything at an airport.

    Looking forward to following along.

As a grandma who has stayed with our little grandkids so moms and dads could have a break, it’s a win win win for everyone - don’t be surprised if grandma breaks a few of your rules though, lol! There’s no such thing as too much spoiling.

Back home at Mirage! No check-in line with the MLife card. Time to find quick and relatively cheap food...

    Have a great kid-free trip!

I’ve had good luck with the kiosks -saved at least 45 mins waiting at NYNY. But I’m not picky about room type.

Lost my first $20 in DDB while waiting for a flatbread from California Pizza Kitchen but it lasted 20 minutes.

Woman sits down next to me and immediately hits low four of a kind and same exact time guy next to her gets dealt four aces with the kicker for $4,000.

At least I got to play the $20 for a bit.

It was on the 9/5 dollar DDB right in front of the lounge where the piano player was singing. Kind of near the MLife desk facing that lounge. I was just playing one credit but he was obviously playing five.

    Good morning, Las Vegas!

Slept (mostly) until 6:30am Vegas time after being in bed a little after 11pm. Like I said, just need to take advantage of being able to relax this trip. That’s a solid night of sleep for Vegas and, based on time change, the latest we’ve stayed in bed in a LONG time haha.

Time to get ready, find some breakfast, then get a spot at the pool. And just maybe throw $20 in something...

Anyone know if Palms still has 10/6 nickels, dimes, or quarters for DDB?

vpfree2.com says that Palms has 25 cents 10/6 DDBP located near entrance between sportsbook and Mabel’s BBQ.

It did not mention nickel or dime machines.
