More like locals did this. Been a problem for awhile with locals parking and then going to the airport to catch their flight.
You can also self-park for free if you’re an M Life Rewards member with Pearl status or higher and valet for free if you are an M Life Rewards member with Gold status or higher.

The LA Times had an A1 article on this yesterday.

Things change. Respond accordingly. It is a market economy.

I don't consider it a cash grab, just business. Can't park at most big hotels in any major city without paying 15-25 bucks a day. San Diego hotels been doing it for a long time. So some call it cash grab, some call it business. One thing is for sure, Las Vegas hotels are in business to make money.

No street parking around most major hotels if you notice. San Diego street parking, lmao. No! We just differ in what we think, it's ok.

In AC, if you earn 75 tier credits (at a CET property) your parking is free. That or you show your platinum status. I don't understand why they don't do that at the casinos in Vegas. It's like validating parking, which even a densely populated city like San Francisco does. Honestly, these nickel and diming exercises in Vegas are becoming quite a turn off

Exempt guests, charge locals who use it as a short-term parking or storage facility.

Same here. Just add it to the price of the room. But then they wouldn't be able to advertise a lower price. The FTC should investigate this practice. My next trip will probably be a cruise. At least that industry has always nickel & dimed you.

    Two things:

Vegas has given away the shop for years. It could afford to. Vegas now has figured out it doesn't need to give away the shop. More profit, too.

Practices that pass muster in every other popular travel destination aggrieve the Vegas market.

The fees are annoying and will impact me on my future trips, but I'm not sure how quite yet. Maybe I'll start flying instead of driving and combining it with trips to see family. Or maybe I'll be avoiding the Strip hotels.

I think that parking should be included in the room/resort fee for guests, but nobody asked my opinion. :) Or at least do like spdandpwr said AC does, and validate for a set number of TCs.

I have been staying downtown lately and Orleans / Gold Coast when not. I take the wax when going downtown and I think it is preparing me for when they start charging for parking downtown. Ahead of the curve.

Wait til the Raiders come to town. Jerry charges 50$ a car to park at the AT&T stadium which he got money for naming rights after someone else built the house for him. Love what you do and do what you love. As the recent Nobel Prize poet once said "Times there a changing". Adjust. Be happy.

rember it used to be 6$ at hardrock and a 1$ at the palms now its 30 to 40 $ in resort fees. now its 10 to 18 $too park just wait

whats the differnce for earning credits or spending 500$ on dinner or shopping

If locals were abusing free parking, then why let them park fir free while charging hotel guests for mist of the year? And why hadnt this been publically addressed before deciding to monetize parking. And no, we're not fools who think parking facilities get built and maintain themselves magically. The rates being charged are about profit, not maintenance. The reason i can't go along willingly wirh the fee frenzy is I cant tolerate these CEOs who talk to their customers like were stupig and denigrate gamblers as if we've been stealing from them all these years.

You do realize that this is their job? Much like it is the job of the "Corporate Bean Counters" at every company that you have stock in (either through a personal account or a 401(K)) to maximize profits. I am sure you don't complain when the "Bean Counters" at the companies you (or anyone else here) own stock in cut costs or increase revenues that increases the stock price. You can't have it both ways. Please tell me how you would run the casino if you owned it. Free rooms for everyone? Full rebate of losses? You can't complain about the current process without also coming up with a viable solution with the status quo.

The T-Mobile Area (20,000 capacity), Park Theatre (5,000 capacity), MGM Grand Area (15,000) create a heavy demand for parking. The parking fee allows MGM to re-coup some of it’s investment and curb parking demand. It just comes down to supply & demand.
