Trips to Las Vegas
100
Not sure if anyone had this happen, but I logged into my MGM account this morning and noticed they changed me to Platinum. I currently only have 180,250 tier credits, however I was Identity Platinum prior to the merger. Has this happened to anyone else? I also got a message stating I’m eligible for the $600 flight credit and $200 dinning credit.

One other note, how does the flight credit work? Do you have to spend all $600 in one trip? Do they reimburse you in cash or just free play? Thank you!

I was also given platinum status with MGM based on Cosmo play. For the $600 reimbursement you need to show a copy of your airfare to the boothling. My understanding is that if your flight cost less than $600 you’ll only be reimbursed the cost of the flight.

By the way I didn’t read post that was linked, but you used to be able to get in cash but they stopped that.

Anyway just keep your flight itinerary, go to the Rewards desk, show it to them and they’ll add $600 worth of FREEPLAY onto your card. You can only do it once per year.

So, if you had Cosmo Platinum and now you have mgm platinum because of that, you can get the $600 airfare and $200 food credit? Even if you haven't gotten 200,000 TCs?

Are MGM's tier credits earned the same way as Caesars? Caesars is only 150k to receive $500 dinner credit and $1200 flight credit which seems a lot better than what MGM offers to reaching 200k credits.

If I understand it correctly, you will still get most Platinum benefits as long as your Platinum.

However, for the flight credit/food, if you have never reached 200K TC, you won't receive those specific benefits/perks.

No, two different systems.

This is correct for tier matched platinum. If you were given platinum when the Cosmo conversion was done you are eligible for the flight and food credit immediately even if your tier credits are below 200k.

MGM changed on August 15, 2024 from giving you cash for your $600 reimbursement to offering only free play or reward credits. You must show your receipt at the cage. They will only reimburse you one time for the fare portion of the flight up to $600. They will not reimburse you for the taxes, seat upgrades, baggage, or other added costs. Just the fare.

That's the official line. Yet, last year after having fun schmoozing with the cage manager and the cashier, they reimbursed me for the full $600 when the fare was only $560 and taxes brought it over $600. So, evidently, the boss has some leeway.

Well damn. That’s confusing and not so straight forward.
Its fairer though to use theoretical, and would solve a lot of CETs issues with VP grinders getting tier for very little theoretical. While most Full Pay VP is $25:1TC there is a big difference between the $10:1TC machines. Takes the same coin in on a 6/5 BP as a 9/6 or 9/5 DDB machine, but the theoretical losses are very different. There are also some regions where they have full pay machines at $10:1. So not all 7 Stars are equal is expected loss for earning, but the benefits are still the same. Then you add in multipliers and daily bonuses and its crazy. Prior to all this daily bonus/multiplier crap, 7 Stars was much harder to get and treated much better than today.

MGMs one difference is Vegas has the accelerator, which seemed like it was going to be temporary to soften the blow of raising tier requirements when mLife when to MGM Rewards, but its still there today.

This is the first I'm hearing about that. Has this been confirmed?

CET and MGM are completely apples and oranges when it comes to accumulating spendable points, tier credits, and how much play is required to reach elevated tier levels and get extra benefits.

There are minor similarities in the structure of the awards you get for reaching higher levels, but the calculations are totally different.

Funnily enough, I had almost the exact same results two weeks ago at the Cosmo. Base fare was $555ish, with the inclusive fare being just over $600. Boothling told me it would be just for the base, took receipt in the back to have his supervisor approve and load, and when he returned he told me the supe had given me the full $600 in FP. I wonder if there's a threshold ($550?) where they just round up?

Yes. I collected the $600 before earning 200k. But this only applies if platinum was given by Cosmo during the Cosmo transition. It does not apply to status matches.
