Hi.... Just thought I would add a trip report from my recent trip to Vegas. I am 46 yr. old female and traveled solo this trip. Monday Oct 22nd.... Usair flight out of Pittsburgh was uneventful. Had a "brush with fame" as Kurt Angle (the wrestling dude)... was on the plane. Since he is originally from Pittsburgh it really didn't surprise me. He was one of the last people to board the plane and was wearing a pin stripe suite. Haha.. he looked like a pimp. Poor guy was sitting near the rear on the plane in a middle seat. Check in at the airport for the MGM. Used the "ultimate escape" package which was a room for $69 with $25 credit toward food and 2 free drinks at the west wing bar. I tried the "twenty dollar trick" with not much success. (Last time I did this with same package I was upgraded to a celebrity spa suite). The guy was very nice and did give me a quiet room facing the strip and he comped my shuttle fee to the hotel and back. After getting my luggage it was off to the shuttle for the transfer to the hotel. The MGM airport porter/bell guy seemed unorganized as he walked us and our luggage to the bus. Oh well... we made it to the hotel along with our luggage... that's all that mattered. Since the room was not ready I took the time to get a quick sandwich at the craftwitch sandwich shop in the MGM. Haha..not sure if I was really hungry or if it was really that good. I spent the next hour or so playing some slots/ vp at the MGM and across the street at ny ny. I had a little luck at the ny ny casino. Stopped to get some wine and pop for the room and off to the room to unpack and freshen up. Dinner this night was at ILfornaio. Had a veal scaloppine caprise and a nice glass of chianti. Yum... it was a nice dinner and nice way to start the trip. Spent the rest of the trip walking down the strip and checking out some casinos. Overall it was a good day and I was ahead about $200 mostly playing VP. Tues Oct 23rd... Had the buffet breakfast at MGM... nothing too special...just typical stuff. Rented a car and headed out to Red Rock Canyon. Checked out the visitor center and then did the 13 mile trip around the park. I stopped at just about all of the viewing areas and did some walking on one of the trails. I even took a chance and drove down the roads that said "drive at your own risk...these are not park maintained roads". Good thing my rental was a jeep. I actually enjoyed the views that driving down these roads provided. Stopped at Red Rock Casino on the way back. I loved this place! I would go back again in a second. But then again... I walked away with $340 of their money! Whooooo. I was playing nickle machine triple play video poker with a multiplier. (playing max... 18 nickels) I kept getting 4 of a kind and even had a royal flush on one of the hands.... that won the $201 jackpot. Also hit 4ok with 10X multiplier! Whoooo! Dinner here was at the bbq place and was good. I really enjoyed this casino. On the way back to town I stopped at the Rio and caught the "sky show" and played some vp and slots. Wed Oct 24th.... Breakfast was starbucks coffee and a cinnamon scone. Played some slots while eating and drinking coffee then to the room to change and then off to poolside for sun and relaxation. Mmmmmm yummie bloody mary's too. Back to the room, shower and then off to explore the strip. Checked out the ticket 4 tonight booth but didn't get a show ticket. On down the strip....got to see the conservatory at the Bellagio. In all my trips to Vegas I had never seen this. Went to Caesar's, Paris, Planet Ho, Mirage, Bally's...Wynn (had never been there).... and I am sure somewhere else too. Gambled a little at each place and just checked them out. Dinner was at the food court at Caesar's. Thurs Oct 25th... Breakfast in the cafe at the MGM. Just eggs.... really can't mess them up. Off to the pool again today. Had another yummie bloody mary. I had fun watching 2 young guys (haha younger than me...) trying to pick up about 5 young women that were hanging out by the pool. I had a few laughs.... it was fun watching the dynamics of it all. After a shower and changing I stopped at the west wing bar and had my two free drinks. I tried a mojito. It was pretty good. After that I headed down the strip. Checked out the ticket 4 tonight booth, but nothing excited me. I had all good intentions of seeing a show this trip, but never did see one. Dinner was a sandwich at the Earl of Sandwich in Planet Ho. I always liked this place in downtown disney (Orlando) and it was good here too. Saw Big Elvis at Bill's. (Also another first for me). Eventually got on the deuce and headed to Freemont St. It has been YEARS since I've been to this area. I really enjoyed it. I checked out all the old casinos, and saw the light show and other various street performers. There was some nascar guy there signing autographs. I'm not a nascar person so I'm not sure who it was and they were packing up to leave as I was arriving. In a matter of about 3 min. I hit for $100 on a monopoly game. I just cashed out and left. I had a yummie "orangesicle" drink served up at one of the booths on the street. Man..that was good. I eventually got back on the deuce and took it all the way to Mandalay Bay and worked my way back through the luxor, Excalibur and Ny Ny to get back to the MGM. Friday Oct 26th.... Coffee and a bagel for breakfast and some last min. gambling before heading to the airport. Put 100 in a machine and within 5 min.. cashed out for 200. Ok..that was it. I was done. Checked hotel bill and checked out. Was not charged for the meals I had at the MGM (even though more than $25) Flight home to Pittsburgh was delayed about an hour due to a "problem with the door"...... otherwise the flight was uneventful. Overall I had a great trip. My goal was to do things I had never done before in Vegas and I definitely accomplished that. Not sure when my next trip will be..... but I hope sometime next year! Thanks so much to all of you for all of your hints and secrets and words of advice. I have learned so much from all of you. I read way much more here than I post and I feel like I know a lot of you even though I have never met you. Thanks again and I hope the report was not too boring!
Not boring at all! Sounds like you had a great trip. I played for a while at Red Rock on a recent visit and really liked both the gambling and the atmosphere. I hear the rooms are quite nice as well. P.S. That's the first time in a while I heard someone talk about getting some "pop" LOL.
