I think this was more my shock than it was a reflection of those who choose to spend that. I'll edit my post as I don't want to give the impression that you clearly had.
I second your comment about going to Atlantic City. Free drinks (up to 10 pm), indoor dining (limited to 25% capacity), lower table minimums ($10 BJ and Craps for sure at Borgata, possibly at Ocean), 9 casinos if you want to roam. You can get a drink and bring it into the sports book as well.
Good luck. @Necrochaos look at some "The Big Jackpot" videos on YouTube if you want to see some truly big wagers.
Sorry for the delay. I’ll report back on it later when I’m recovered from the bruising. It was an epic coin-in and an epic beating I’ll have no problems or qualms about redeeming free play on the back end of of this.
Dinner last night was courtesy of Ginger, a Pan-Asian restaurant , one of two full-service spots currently open on the property, the other being Voltaggio Brothers Steakhouse. It was complimentary due to the aforementioned beating. Black Bass with soy/ginger/scallions, Veggie potstickers, General Tso Shrimp
Sorry to hear about the beating. Dinner looks good. Bet that Black Bass was wonderful. Plastic containers and plastic cutlery this is the way of the world. So sad to see a nice meal like that served 'to go'.
Just last year they were going to be the cause for the end of the world Our grocery was preparing to end all single use plastic bag by the end of last year and now multiple use bags are banned from the store.
They've created some GMOs that eat plastic. They'll unleash them to rid the world of all of this plastic pollution and then it won't be needing to be banned. Of course, then the GMOs will get out of control and start attacking all of the plastic stuff in society...like everything...and our world will come to an end. Just sayin'
Played enough in 1 night to get a host assigned to me lol, and I’m still here. I’ll detail the beating in a bit.
So let’s talk about the gambling. I spun the Moon maiden machine 100 times at $50 a pop. On the 8th spin I got a bonus on the 32nd spin I got another bonus played until I hit 100 spins and it was completely cold from there on out. I finished right before I had to “rebuy” but with cash in hand so $4650 from $5000 coin in then I walked over to play a quick hit with a really high jackpot. Put $2k and played $2k and got a respectable return After this is when I found the high limit room and things went horribly wrong. I don’t know when I turned into a $100 spin guy but those days are definitely over. I got dangerously attached to a Cleopatra 2 $5 machine that despite the handpays she brutalized me real good. it was really bad textbook chasing. It’s important to remember that the previous spin has nothing to do with the next so chasing doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t “owe” you. I won’t quantify exactly how much I lost because it’s embarrassing (at least I’m still embarrassed) but I’ll say that I only got a payback of a bit less than 80%, even playing all $1 and $5 slots. Definitely the worst loss of my gaming life and a lesson learned. Like I said before I will not feel guilty about using any comps or free play that I get as a result of this.
Sat in the dark in my room until about 2pm kicking myself and ordered room service. Clam Chowder came lukewarm but had good consistency and flavor while the Crab Cake was extremely stellar, one of the best crab cakes I’ve had in my life I’d say. It’s courtesy of Pappas Crab in the casino eatery. Fries didn’t taste fresh but that was an afterthought
Currently getting some fresh air while waiting on dinner from Voltaggio Steakhouse. I’m Hoping to my get my food charges comped on the backend before I check out tomorrow.
I have the same host- Ja’Neen. I like her. She’s been very receptive to adding a little extra to weekly freeplay offers here and there or a food and bev comp when I’ve lost my shirt. Definitely a better host than the guy assigned to me at Live! Casino (45 minute drive away) who can barely put 10 bucks of freeplay on my acct without breaking into a cold sweat. Lol.
Looking forward to working with her. I had a huge session at Live about 2 months ago and I still haven’t received any offers. Does Live! Even offer freeplay?
And sorry to hear of the loss but based on the pics you posted and the high bet level it would have been a case of excellent decision making on your part to have a different outcome. Bonuses that pay out 20-50x relative to bet amount just keep your head barely above water for a limited time and if they don’t come often enough it is hard to net a profit. Side note on table games- I’ve seen several triple zero roulette stations set up on the “end caps” of the table game areas. Shit you not, have seen them as high as $75 min on weekends. Or as low as $15.
They do but they split it up as mid-week (Monday-Thursday) and weekend (Friday-Sunday) offers which pisses me off to no end. Intentionally designed to shortchange the player, ugh.
Got Dinner from Voltaggio Brothers Steakhouse. 9 Oz. Filet Mignon (44 farms Texas) with a king crab add on, Their take on creamed spinach. I’m usually a Ribeye guy but wanted to go a little lighter tonight. The Filet was medium instead of the med rare I ordered, probably because it continued to cook before I had a chance to cut into it. It was tender and had a nice crust, but I think I just prefer the fatty, rich, beefiness of a ribeye. The King Crab was also a touch overcooked but it did the trick. The spinach was served with an aerated white cheddar and a C- for me. I definitely prefer the richness and flavor of an actual cream spinach and it needed a little sauce. These are first world problems, but also this is a casino-priced steakhouse. As @smerrian mentioned before, the packaging is definitely wasteful. They could have at least put the crab and filet in the same package.
I’ve never, ever, received anything other than a free room at Live! I used the room to crash in, as I had a 6am flight out of BWI the next morning. They comp very poorly, I’ve heard this across the board.
Yes, the amount of wasted plastic into the environment is disappointing, but wasteful is not my problem. The problem is seeing what would be a wonderful meal being served on fine china on a table cloth with cloth napkins in a beautiful atmosphere being served up in a 5¢ plastic container for you to take to your room. I feel the whole ambiance of the upscale atmosphere, the fine accouterments of china, heavy cutlery and fine linens, the waiters that fawn over you...as well as stellar cuisine...are all part of the experience that makes a $70 steak worth $70. Put it in a plastic box and I think it's lost half it's value.
