Just got an email from MGM for the HGS in 2024. The dates are Dec 5 - 15.

The link to the catalog is up, but the title of the website says 2023, but the images are for 2024, so I assume it's current: https://holidaygiftshoppecatalog.com/Homepage/Default.aspx

The main thing that interests me, 30,000 HGS points = $100 Freeplay

Yeah, I got that too. I actually like like the shopping portion of it so I won’t be cashing mine out. I’m booked that weekend at the aria! I know last time I went to the later dates and some of the stuff didn’t arrive before Christmas so this one I’ll be there on the sixth

I believe Cosmo emails outed the date ages ago :D. The catalog doesn't look to be updated yet. Look at the item codes they still start with HGS2023.
The other issue is that recent years they weren't letting you use incremental HGS points for FP, and they made it in $100 increments only.
Also, don't you have very few HGS points?

Its never been clear to me: do you actually have to be there during the event dates to use your points or can you just place an order through the online catalog?

You have to be there during the time period. The events are where you can walk around and see things and get some snacks and drinks, but you can use the kiosks when there isn't an event going on to order items also during the 'Kiosk Redemption' dates listed. They'll have some special kiosks setup at some properties, like Aria by the rewards desk.

and once again I will point out the stupidity of MGM showing these points to the decimal... what's the point?!?!? .1 is like .0003 cents!

I never paid attention to any of the Cosmo emails. :D

Yes, I believe that to still be the case, no partial redemptions. And yes, I almost have enough for $100 Freeplay. Almost enough.

I feel nostalgic about Cosmo Holiday gifts. No catalog of gifts reminiscent of Service Merchandise. No freeplay with a 90% chance it's just going back into the casino coffers. They gave us CASH.

...yet another indicator of my transformation into the old guy, sitting around and mumbling about the good ole days

I think its only Vegas play that makes that happen. I never see a .xx until I play in Vegas. Borgata seems to add them in whole points only.

Vegas doesn't give much in the way of HGS points compared to other markets, that and certain types of games don't give any IRC.

Yep, I got $175 cash from Cosmo in 2022 through their holiday cash back program and it was nice. 15k points = $25. Too bad it went away.

If HGS allowed players to redeem points for items remotely without being present, that would be a benefit to me. Otherwise I have no use for my HGS points.

For what it's worth, last year, redeeming HGS points in person did not trigger a gaming day.

So if you'll already be in town and staying elsewhere, that's something to consider.

I was told the same, but can you actually ever really know? Also, I think the FP was good for like 9 months or something after redeeming it.

Someone I know redeemed things, while not staying there. They asked their host, and as far as the host could see, they weren't on property. Their offers were not impacted.

For what its worth, I asked cause I had a really high spin to win score and was wondering if I won something and had to come back if it would ding me for another day as I was already no playing while redeeming. The told me HGS redemptions don't count as a gaming day. In the end though I won...nothing. Was in 2nd place but by the end of the period I had dropped off completely. Can't always tell by offer impact. I've low played the crap out of them an no offer impact...

I did this last year and might do it again this year.

Aria throws a great event, so I would say to stay there if you can get it COMPED.

A hotel stay is not required. However, the whole process of ordering is extremely annoying as you have to wait in line for someone to process your order (even long lines for those with status).

When Venetian does it, they will allow you to order after you check into their system. IMO, this is how it should be done. But Venetian throws a pretty crappy "party" for this.

Ahhhh, the good old days! Cosmo’s HCB was amazing, I miss it so. 2021 was a very good year for me with that program. Sigh. Merry Christmas!

While I agree it's annoying it does make some sense
People are more likely to go if they have a lot of points and if they have a lot of points they're more likely to have higher status

I went to a cet event one time when even though they had more people working the 7* lines then all the others combined the line was actually longer then the gold line

IIRC, last year MGM had targeted HGS bonus points for stays during the first two weeks of August. Anyone get an offer this year?

I was a Platinum player there for almost 10 years and they never once offered me any shopping promotion. I never got to experience like that, but it allowed me to move on and switched to Wynn/V/MGM.
