    Hi all

We are staying at the MGM Grand in august and was wondering how the airport check in works? Does it cost extra to do this?

    Thanks

    Chris

My first post, so be gentle:) If my memory serves me right, we paid $10 a bag to check in for our flight at the Venetian last year for a Virgin flight to the UK. Great service, and made the return much easier not having to worry about bags and boarding passes.

    Thanks

So when do you pay? We're flying with things cook from the UK. Can we just go to the hotel check in desk when we land? And pay then?

Are you talking about checking into your MGM Grand room while still at the airport?

Or are you talking about checking in for your flight home when staying @ MGM Grand?

Seems like the first one. No mention on the site of a price, just the price for the shuttle.

If you are talking about checking in to the room at the airport after landing, it works great and is free. While my husband got our luggage, I checked us in. They even printed our show tickets for KA and Terry Fator right there. Went straight from the airport to the room. Works wonderful with no line.

A couple weeks ago I landed at 6pm and forgot their hours.
Walked over and they were closed.

Wow that's great yes I was talking about booking into hotel when I land.

I will definitely try it, is it easy to find your room when you get to hotel?

I advise you to follow this model. One time in 2002 my wife and I were staying at Caesars and decided to check in to our room at the airport check-in desk. It went very quickly and seemed very efficient, but by the time we went to baggage claim, some idiot had mistakenly taken my wife's suitcase. Needless to say, making arrangements to locate it and get it back ruined a large part of our trip.

I dont know what type of room you got but most room are in the towers. It is easy to navigate. Once you get into the massive hotel lobby and you walk onto the casino floor, the elevators are on the right side. Its next to a bar. There are signs that can help you. The walk on the casino floor is literally not that many steps to the elevator.

The petite king rooms (west wing rooms) is a little further inside the casino floor. Next to the sportsbook.

If you are staying at the skylofts or the mansion then they have a private entrance. But you can still get there easily from the hotel lobby. I can navigate you there is you are staying in one of those rooms. let me know.

    Have fun bud.

welcome to the board chris , im also from the uk

when you get to the airport you go down an escelator to the baggage claim , as you hit the bottom of the escelator turn 180 degrees and the mgm check in is just in front of you

its great to be able to turn up at your hotel already having your room key as usually the ques in the mgm are quite large

just a word of warning when you get to the hotel and into the lobby keep the room key handy as when you get to the lifts ( or elevatooorrrrrss if your from the u.s ) there will be a security guard there and they wont let you pass onto the elevators without a room key for security purposes

    have fun bud

In my past experience the security is only there in the late evenings.

I have a question, does anybody know wha tthe likelyhood of being upgraded or the success posibilities of the $20 trick when using airport check-in? All the times I've been to Vegas and stayed at MGM I've never tried it.

I've done the Airport check-in for the MGM and I guess I could say I had success with the $20 trick there as well. I've never gotten any sort of suite upgrade at the MGM but I have gotten into my room at 10AM, high floor, facing the strip view etc (warning - there aren't really any great strip views at the MGM at all, but some wings/sides are better than others). I love doing the Airport check-in if it's open...much better to just walk in and go right upstairs!

You'll be able to use the Airport check-in, it's open from 10am-6pm. If for some reason they didn't have a room cleaned yet when you check in at the airport, I think they will just give you the room key and information and tell you a time that it will be ready. But honestly, if you land at 12, you probably won't walk into the hotel until after 1 (by the time you land, deplane, get luggage, etc) and I've never not been able to get into my room at MGM at that time of the day, despite it being before the official check-in time.

I do not know if true, but I have been told that upgrades/$20 trick is more difficult to pull off at the airport check in, something about the computer system at airport is not exactly the same as what's on property.
