    My Trip Report

Booked Friday and Saturday of Memorial day weekend at Buffalo Bill’s in Primm on a marketing offer. Free 2 nights, 2 free Smokey Robinson concert tickets and $50 slot play. Added in Sunday night at South Point for $71 total booked on Travelworm.

Come Thursday we decided, why not head out tonight? So I checked Terrible’s Las Vegas website and saw rooms still available. I called Terrible’s with my free night offer and the lady said those rooms are all gone but they had some for $45...not the new tower but standard rooms. Seems like if rooms are open my offer should be good. This is the second time this has happened so I said no thanks...don’t know if it’s a bait and switch thing or what.

Jumped on Travelworm and booked the Plaza for $30.

Check in was quick at the plaza. Got a coupon for 2 Viva Las Vegas Tix for 5 bucks. Only 2 elevators out of 6 were working. Room was worn but clean. Found a 9/6 JOB machine and played with no luck. Went back to the check-in desk to get the 6PM check out for $20 more but they said not on this weekend. I can’t figure out why a place with 1000 rooms doesn’t have any late night dining except Mickey D’s. I really want to like this place but it needs to improve.

Friday checked out , dropped the bags in the car and went to the O2 bar for the FSE coupon sheet from ACG, It had 2 free tix to Viva Las vegas and 2-4-1’s to the Fremont and MSS buffets. Headed over to MSS for the lunch Buffet. EXCELLENT as usual. Did a little shopping and split a fried twinkie then back to the Plaza for the show. Sat in the very front and the kids loved Viva Las Vegas. Total price of 5 bucks for all 4 of us. Driving towards the strip on main street I noticed the Sombrero Cafe. I know I’ve read reviews of this place. I’ll put it on my to do list...looks tiny..maybe a hidden gem.

Quick check-in at Buffalo Bill’s. Still have crappy VP. 8/5 JOB for a quarter. Had a good T-bone for 7.99.

Saturday..Bad planning for dinner. Hotel was full and lines everywhere a dinner hour. Had to eat at Carl Juniors since all hotel restaurants had a 45 minute wait and we didn’t want to be late for the concert. Smokey Robinson was pretty good. His voice was sharp! The show was 2 hrs 10 minutes which was about a half hour too long. I guess I’m getting old because I just want to hear non stop hits. Save the chit chat and the band introductions.

Sunday- saw the free offer for the “world’s greatest magic show†at the Greek Isles and remembered it being on the top ten values list on Las Vegas advisor for the first 100 persons. Called the box office and made a reservation.

Checked out and drove to South Point. Checked in early. Room 844. WOW nice big room. Floor to ceiling window, view of the pool and big plasma TV. Went to eat at the Mexican Restaurant 8.95 for a enchilada, taco , beans and rice with a Margarita chips and salsa guacamole and beans. Good deal. Not the best Mexican food in my life but well worth it.

Got to Greek Isles...what a dump. They had a $2 printing fee for the tix which made the total cost for the show $8. Pretty good show for the price. Drove over to Terrible’s for the buffet after. Just made the 9pm closing and swiped my players club card for the 4 of us. Good tender Prime rib.

Back at South Point, Nice looking cocktail waitresses. Couldn’t find the 9/6 JOB listed on VPfree, but found some full pay BP. I like this place. Total clone of the Orleans.

Drive home on Monday. There was an accident somewhere near Barstow so the drive from Jean to Primm took about an hour. Don’t know how long Primm to Barstow would’ve taken but didn’t want to chance it. What the heck would I do with two kids if they need to take a leak and I'm just stuck in traffic? Thank goodness I have a ton of points at Primm so I called to get a room at Whiskey Pete’s just to relax and kill time. Used points to pay for the room, asked for a room high up with a view of the highway and took a nap while the kids went down to play in the pool. Woke up about 3pm and used points for a buffet for 4. About 6pm saw the road was moving fairly well...checked out and went home.

Sounds like you were on the go...but went with the flow!
Love the traffic jam story. I'm sure getting the kids off the highway, out of the backseat and into a pool knocked you up a couple of rungs on the parent ladder in their book.
I wished I live close enough to have a quick, extended weekend in Vegas without all the airport hassle.
    Thanks for sharing.

My mom really enjoyed her stay at the South Point too. She still raves about it, she said the rooms were really nice and the gambling gods there were very good to her. Thanks for sharing glad you had an enjoyable trip.

Hmmm, wish I would have known Smokey Robinson was playing Saturday night. Maybe I would have gone to see him instead of Blue Man Group. I love his songs.
