I hope everyone has a nice and safe Memorial Day :usa: weekend, whatever that means/entails for you and yours.
To me it's a time to remember and give thanks to those who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we have today!

I was able to get in a nice ride on the bicycle this morning.
Not as scenic as @ken2v 's territory, but it's home to me!

(Darn it! I thought I had that date/time stamp fixed! :faint:)

Heading over for an extended family picnic today, just the local Alpert clan tomorrow. :peace:

I just read an article saying that a lot of Americans today have lost the true meaning of what Memorial Day is. I'm just as guilty as we somehow get caught up in picnics, shopping deals, and holiday get-aways.

Today, as I've done in the past, I will take a moment of silence to remember the sacrifices made by our men and women in the military.

I've always respected those who served in the military and honor those who've made the ultimate sacrifice.

And it doesn't have to be today for me to tell them thank you for all that they've done for our country.

Looks jus fine to me!! We're having 10 for dinner, so no ride until tomorrow. Starting prep work yesterday. I'm reverse roasting a 10# strip loin.

Cheers to all, and thoughts for those who gave all.

I make an annual trek with my 89 year old parents to the Kingsbug CA cemetery to honor our ancestors. It's about 20 miles from Fresno. My dad grew up on a farm there.

My dad paying respects to his Father and Mother. His father was a WWI Veteran. Unfortunately he died of pneumonia in 1933 when my dad was only 7. There were no antibiotics in general use in the early 30's and many young healthy people died of such infections.

My father is also a Veteran. He Was an Army Master Sergeant and part of the Occupation force in Japan. He stood on the spot of the Atomic Bomb blast in Hiroshima 4 months after the bomb was dropped and worked two years just 20 miles from that site.
