The race that stops a nation. Met a lunatic at Palace Station years ago, loved the Gee Gee"s. Wanted to do the Australian horse racing trip. Hope he ended up doing it. Yeah, l did encourage him a bit by telling him about all the local racing that goes on over here. Horses, greyhounds, trots and the local cane toad races { anything that moves can be used for racing ] Go the Aussies.

Bad / sad news today, the media exposed what happens to the horses after their racing career ends. Not so long ago they did the same with greyhounds. Check the internet if you are interested. I am sure in the back of our minds we could have guessed this, it is a business after all.

Yes this is sad news. After all the horses that died on the track last winter at Santa Anita, the media is reporting every horse that breaks down now in California. The animal rights groups have pressured many dog tracks into closing down. There was a referendum to ban racing in California this year and the vote was very close to have the sport banned. I think within 5 years there will be no more horse racing in America.
