    My Trip Report

I have a Park MGM slot tournament scheduled for next weekend (and K and another friend will be in the house). But hmm... my sister will be there this weekend, and I’ve missed her past couple visits.

First agenda item during my 1:1 with my boss:

Me: "I'm going to Vegas to do an offsite and will kidnap X and Y while new guys A and B sit in and soak up our tea, and we'll brainstorm and pound out an outline and roadmap for the rest of this year through midyear 2025."

    Boss: "Okay."

I figure my new persona at the new job will be just to state things instead of asking for them. So far it's working.

So I moved my trip up by a week, arriving tomorrow night for a weekend of fun, then work, then another weekend of fun while winning a slot tournament to fund the next trip. And the big upshot: work will pay for my flight and Ubers now.

It doesn't hurt that I have Fontainebleau comped along with a bunch of comped food as well. I’m a cheap company expenses date.

Plus I'll put the new guys up at Circus Circus.

    "That's mean," my sister said.

    "That's cheap!"

And it's the 1960 TV ad special of $22 a night (doubled with taxes and fees).

Heck, you have to start at the bottom somewhere. The new guys are right out of school and have never been to Vegas before so could use some corrupting. You can't go all glitz and bleau-y at for Vegas first-timers. You gotta swim with the bedbugs and broken elevators. Start at Circus squared, peering out the window longingly at Fontainebleau where you could be in a few years... and see me waving from there (or is that me pulling the slot handle).

    Stuff to degen:
    • Fontainebleau status match, freeplay
    • Mirage freeplay
    • Palms freeplay, food
    • Rio freeplay
    • Venetian flight reimbursement
    • Wynn status match

    Stuff to store:
    • Circus Circus (for plebes)
    • The Cosmopolitan (for friend)
    • Fontainebleau
    • NoMad (twice)

    Stuff to see:
    • Abandon
    • America's Got Talent Live (maybe) (final show!)
    • David Blaine (maybe)
    • Dentist (might cancel)
    • Friend's big birthday (Vegas chic attire oh my)*
    • Handpay
    • Royal dealt
    • Sammy's Island
    • Slot tournament win
    • Unicow with 400 spins

    Stuff to eat:
    • 8 East
    • Bar Ito
    • Border Grill
    • Catch
    • Cleaver
    • La Côte
    • LPM
    • Mother Wolf
    • NoMad Library
    • Pizza Rock
    • Teriyaki Madness
    • Vida
    • Washing Potato

    * It’s no @MohrPfun husband cape, but it’s the best I can do for Vegas chic. This plus a loud shirt that a neighbor may have stolen. I purchased the jacket at what I thought was my size but apparently everything has shrunk and it’s tight. But how do I quickly lose weight with all these restaurants?

How many offsites are you planning to do in Vegas this year? I think at least quarterly is good. Maybe monthly if you can pull it off. Go tell the boss now.

The jacket is FABULOUS! And it will fit.

You just need to rearrange all those dining events until after you wear it. Simple as that!

The latter part of that ‘stuff to see’ list is ambitious, but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Good luck!

I'm meeting a pug and a Frenchie tomorrow. This may seem like it has nothing to do with you but it's my way of trying to get you to post Francois now.

Last-minute decision to see a show instead of doing laundry and packing.

I have a friend who only does orchestra, which I’ve sort of adopted as well (you’re paying a lot anyway, might as well pay a bit more for better seats). But Dress Circle rules! No one up there, great sightlines, it’s like your own private booth. Can stay all the way through curtain and still be the first ones out.

The show is a musical version of Death Becomes Her and is pretty great, destined for Broadway. Megan Hilty (from Smash) stars, and also has Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child.

I was trying to guess that lobby, so thanks for the followup pic! Dress circle in those old Loop theatres can be very good, esp if you are front row.

    Have a lucky trip!

Don’t mind me, just sitting here eating the last peanut M&Ms that should say Shame Size instead of Share Size for a puny 3.27 oz. bag.

    IMG_7345.jpeg

And yep, I’ll never fit into this jacket, but who needs buttons and who needs to raise their arms.

A couple sports bets finally came in today.

I’m a $50 or $100 bettor, but lately I’ve been Martingaling up on favorites that haven’t been coming in — $50 to $100 to $200 to $500. Because it’s gotta win eventually, right?

    IMG_7348.jpeg IMG_7346.jpeg

And the recent losers. The Cubs bet was solely for the Chick-Fil-A promo — if the Cubs win at home, you get a free selected menu item the next day, no purchase necessary.

    IMG_7269.jpeg IMG_7281.jpeg

So I lost the bet plus possible cottage fries.

    Ambitious. I love it.
Step 1 tell the boss yore headed to Vegas.
Step 2 move the trip up a week.
Step 3 plan the pathway of the company for a year.
Step 4 win the slot tourney.
    Step 5 wear that jacket.

this has the makings of an amazing trip report. Ambitious and I love it. Now go crush some souls and enjoy the ride. Go Maxev Go!!!
