My buddy flew from Denver to Milwaukee with some edibles in his bag and didn't have any problems
I retired earlier this year and being no longer subject to drug testing I made a trip to Denver. My research indicated that TSA is not interested in materials that don't pose a danger to the aircraft and if they come across stuff in normal quantity they will either ignore it or ask you to dump it (as you would with water bottles). It's not legal in the state I was returning to, but there's no inspection at that point. So I rented a car at the airport, got 4 1/4 ounces for variety, put them discretely in the bottom of my carry on and had no problems. I have TSA precheck. That may have helped but I don't think there would have been an issue without it.
Now that many people have had the chance to visit the dispensaries, I’d like to pose a question or two. Has anyone tried to take the products through McCarran security? Also, based on the frankness of the dispensary personnel, what would happen if you suggested this?
I care pot to and from LV all the time. Small quantity, but always in my checked luggage.
Ive been through McCarran and Denver with no problems in carry-on or checked. As far as dispensary personnel, my first time at one in Vegas, I kind of mumbled, "is it a problem getting back home?" then smiled and said, "you're probably not supposed to answer". She just smirked with her head down and quietly said something like, "it shouldn't be a problem".
It's not the garments triggering the pat down...it's what they're hiding
This last trip out of McCarran they had a drug dog sniffing every carry-on bag. I didn't have anything in my bag but it got me wondering if the dog would've been able to smell marijuana in edibles.
Was it a drug or bomb sniffing dog though?
Pretty sure most dogs either do drugs or explosives.
Dogs do either/or but not both. The only cross training dogs get is detection and security. I seriously doubt there has been a drug sniffing dog inside an airport since 9/11. Drug dogs at airports mostly work the checked bags looking for international shipments.
I was through a couple weeks ago, no problems in my carry on with some edibles. My wife did have trouble with a toy she had bought at a local store, they were all over that, had a couple guys trying to figure it out, female TSA came over, looked and shook her head and walked away, lol.
Legos caused that much interest?
If you have concerns, plant a decoy dildo....got it.
On a recent layover in STL they brought a dog through the waiting area I was in. I assumed it was explosives.
Once I packed a full size electric toothbrush in my carry on and I was called out for one of those "Female bag check on 4" type of things. I can imagine what they thought it was!
The beagle at international baggage claims pretty much always stops at my backpack. "Ma'am, do you have any meat or cheese in there?" "NOPE, I ate it on the plane...." (Trips back from Europe ;-)
I guess my question would be.....if it was a drug dog.....would it be able to smell the edibles in a backpack?
My hubby threw a vape in the shower bag and tossed it in his checked luggage. It got home without a problem.
Maybe they thought that it doubles as a vibrator?
