Wife and I were supposed to go to NoCal (wine country) for 3 days, then 3 days in Vegas and back home last August for our 26th anniversary. My motorcycle accident put a bit of a hitch into that giddy-up so we're now making up for part of that trip. I was in Vegas in December with my buddy JT as I simply "had to get there" before dear wife and I were going on our make up trip in Feb. 3 nights DT, Sat early am arrival, Tues late afternoon flight out. Staying at The Cal for Sat and Sun, DTG for Mon night and keeping room Tues so that we can leave things in the room until its time to head to the airport. Probably going to Uber/Lyft from LAS to DT. Nothing solid planned other than relaxing, gambling and having the occasional adult beverage. Probably going to take advantage of the Vic and Anthony's dinner deal though, Sat or Sun night. Hoping to do a semi-live TR, but we'll see how that goes.... JW
Sorry i won't be on the same flights as you in Feb. Hope you recover properly from your accident. Ride safe!
A27 and A28 for tomorrow morning's flight. A good start. Not a first "win" but not bad. SWA flights over 2 hrs I always do EB check in. Well worth the money.
Yesterday was nice. Won some and lost some, drank lots of 777 microbrews. Small net loss for the day. Got to the tables at MSS around 11:00 am, met VMBr Joe at the Boars Head after lunch at 777. Nice convo with a fellow Sconnie. Crashed for 3 hrs in the early eve and then went back to 777 for a late supper on a comp. Gambled until about 2:00 am and crashed. Was able to do pretty at Craps with a few winning sessions and a decent roll of my own at MSS too. Black jack was up and down with a few losing sessions and a few winners. 3 card poker has been a total cash suck though. Haven't hit any good hands. Just one 3 of a kind on the 6 card bonus hand and one flush. That's just gotta change, right? Heading down to the Cal coffee shop for a quick breakfast and then back at it. Badgers play at 3:30 Vegas time and The Cal had BTN so probably going to watch the game here.
I'm loving the new sportsbook at The Cal, comfortable seating and damn good pricing for the adult beverages.
You're not missing much back home, fellows! (Except for me crying about not being there...) Party on! RICHARD
Sports book at Cal was indeed a nice place to take in the Badger debacle. Team played a terrible game, with NU forcing many mistakes also. Glad I didn't bet the game (really didn't like the 11 pt spread and didn't want to bet against the team I want to win). Gambling this trip was pretty spotty, wife couldn't do anything, in face she quit gambling Monday am. I of course soldiered on! I did my best at craps this trip, was up a few hundred for the trip. Just the opposite with 3 Card poker. Played 4-5 sessions and never got anything better than a flush and only got that once. Hit 2 6 card bonus hands, a straight and a full house. Just "keep you around" money. BJ wasn't much better, I had a couple of winning sessions Sat afternoon and early eve and after that, never won, didn't lose my buy in all the time either though. Wife and I had a really nice trip even though the gambling stunk. Ate at the California Noodle house twice. Lunch on Sunday and dinner on Monday. All 4 dishes were good, came out really quick and service was good too. We'll eat there again. Had a good dinner Sunday night with a buddy from HS who lives out in Vegas, at at Triple George. The rib eye was awesome, good apps and the creamed spinach was very good also. 3G has become my "go to" great dinner spot downtown. I managed to have a slice at Pizza Rock too. As I've mentioned, we picked up a room at the DGT for free on a mailed offer. Wife enjoyed sitting out and reading by the pool Sunday and a bit on Monday also. Room was very nice, enjoyed the free wi-fi (part of their resort fee which was waived as part of the offer). Gambling? Not good. 1 $5 BJ table open, craps table open and Pai Gow was open whenever I walked through. Played a bit of BJ Monday and then again on Tues. Couldn't get a seat at the 1 $5 BJ table (I'm a $10-$15 per hand player) and didn't want to play at the $15 table. I can get $5 BJ at any Boyd property 24/7/365. We may stay at the DTG again sometime, but doubt that it will be on an offer. I tried to play there, but just couldn't. Their 24 hour restaurant was quite good though, ate a light supper there Monday night and breakfast Tues am. All food was very good, a bit pricey, but very good. Flight home was on time and uneventful. All in all, a great Vegas get away for my wife and I. No big wins, no great freak sightings or other publicly mentionable highlights...... Until next time, and I don't have any idea when that will be.......... JW
