We arrived at the Orleans yesterday morning about 9am. Tried checking in and was told that they could only check people out. Their systems were down. We finally were able to check in about 11:30am. Most of the kiosks were not working. You could not retrieve any card information. The displays on all the slot and video poker machines just read 'Orleans'. No ads running as usual. They were displaying points, but the screen wasn't displaying your name. This morning no display on the screen, you don't know if you are collecting points or not. None of the machines are accepting tickets, just cash. You have to go to the cage to cash a ticket. All of the kiosks are down including the cash machines. I talked to a slot person (somebody in a suit) for lack of a better term, and he said that it should be resolved soon but no definite time frame set. Anybody else witnessing this? We are planning on spending some time at the Palms until this is resolved.

I think the term "FRED" would apply here. Fu*king Ridiculous Electronic Devices"

40+ years ago when we started integrating computers into our work place, somebody coined that phrase. Not me, but it still applies.

I am not sure how often I will be able to update this thread. I will be busy losing our money on DDB VP! Bad day yesterday...

Being an electronics engineer, I'm real familiar with FRED!

The same computer snafu occurred when trying to check in at Sam's Town a few years ago. We arrived late morning and were told to come back in a couple hours because the system was down ... at all Boyd properties. When we went back, there was a pretty long line of irate customers, and desk people were going person to person asking names and other info in preparation for trying to check them in manually. I hardly remember much, as that's when I was hit with the flu or something similar and just wanted to lie down and die! I think we finally got into the room late afternoon, and even then all the machines, as the OP described, were down. The pit critters were taking notes, supposedly for giving table players credit when things were restored. From casinos, airlines, and just about everything else, we're so dependent on machines that it's hard to function when they don't.

There was an issue not that long ago at the Flamingo. Nobody could cash out vouchers via machine or even use them for play. Machines would take bills only, not vouchers. Only the cage could cash out vouchers.

Thats too bad, and starting to sound like some (ir)regular occurrence (whichever way you want to read this).

several months ago the Orleans computers were down (one could feed the machines cash and tickets, but had to go to cashier if you wanted to cash-out - I was there.

then, about a month ago, same thing happened at the Gold Coast - I was there.

with these 2 incidents cited, am not sure it affected all Boyd computers at other sister properties simultaneously, and in both incidents I moved along and did not stick around to find out end result - these are only what I experienced, and not sure of other possible occurrencies.

not good......

hilorain....

It eventually worked, but it took over two minutes to log-in into my B Connected account.

That Gold Coast incident would have been Wednesday October 19. It was Young At Heart Day. Wife and I just earned our 50 points for a free breakfast buffet and the kiosk wouldn't print the voucher. It was definitely a cluster f@#$. It worked out for our benefit as we went to Palace Station and used a 2 for 1 buffet for breakfast and hit some nice VP wins.

***UPDATE***
All system seem to be up and operational as of late yesterday afternoon. Not sure what time everything came back. As I said in my original post, we went to the Palms and ended up spending most of the day and updating our cards. We did spend about an hour at GC, then headed back to Orleans for the evening. Moving on to MSS today.

This is very interesting... I was trying to make a reservation through bconnected earlier this week, must've been Monday or Tuesday, and kept getting error messages. I finally called and made the reservation but they claimed that everything was fine at their end. o_O
