Trips to Las Vegas

Anyone ever had the BBQ ribs at Magnolia's in the Four Queens? When I get ribs in Vegas I usually stick to Ellis Island and a couple other tried-and-trues, but I have a coupon for Magnolia's and wondered if it's worth a shot.

Really? No one's tried them, like, ever? I guess that sort of answers my question.

We ate there regularly on 2 trips in the past two years, I don't recall seeing ribs on their menu....At Binions, across the street, the ribs, brisket, chicken are Great.

The rib place behind Binions sports book is where I get ribs downtown... Tony Romas at the Fremont is good to...never seem ribs on the magnolia menu

I'm sure there are plenty of decent BBQ joints in Las Vegas, but I don't expect them in the tourist areas. In the South we have a rule: if you don't see a pile of hickory logs at the back door, don't order the barbecue. Tony Roma's boils their ribs in water with Liquid Smoke added (New York City style) then grills them. Ellis Island steams their ribs then grills them. What I've seen at the Binion's joint looked better than either, but it's a pretty low bar.

Thanks guys. I had no idea how little I knew about BBQ. I'll give Binions a shot.

Given that Binions has a proper smoker in the alley, they probably have better ribs. My experience has been hit or miss. Better service at Magnolia's. Binions has plastic plates and the sides are meh.

I'm from the deep south and know where you're coming from. I still enjoy Binions ribs even if they aren't grilled to the specs I'm accustomed to.

I should apologize because I answered a barbecue question instead of the OP's question. I have had many satisfactory meals at Magnolia's and didn't realize that they had ribs on the menu. Never looked for it or I must have passed over it. Tony Roma's made a ton of money from 'fall off the bone' ribs, a lot of people still think that is the gold standard. If you have a slow cooker, a bottle of barbecue sauce and six hours you too can make fall off the bone ribs. Flusher says he saw a smoker in the alley behind Binion's, therefore they have the best ribs Downtown.

i am no BBQ or ribs expert by any means. I would be willing to try the ribs at Magnolias with a coupon. I have had the ribs at Binions 3 or 4 times, the first time was good, but after that, not so much. I want to try tony romas, but never get around to it. 'fall off the bones" sounds like my type.

I've had the ribs at Magnolia's. They're good, but not as good as the ribs at the BBQ place at Binion's. Make sure you go to Binion's BBQ with a big appetite -- that platter is humongous! Definitely enough to share.
