So I did a quick glace on the forum, not a deep dive, but I did not find my answer.

I never used either of these services before, I know how to set up an account and all that with the application. (And use the codes)

At the airport what do I do? Do I set up my ride before land? Do I get my bags and set up the ride after or walk out to the staging area then set up my ride?

I'm not a dumb guy but I am stumped!

Grab your luggage, head to the waiting area, and request your ride. Its better for you to wait for them than them wait for you.

The waiting area, which is a parking deck connected by a bridge, is marked with signs.

    its explained best here: https://www.mccarran.com/Go/RideShare.aspx

Thanks for the link... When I kept looking I was finding tips for drivers... again not a deep dive (I got two kids, who has time for that!)

    You're the best!

As I first time Rider, I would wait until you are in the staging area before you request your ride from the app.. reason is incase you go to the wrong place or whatever.. It will only take them a few minutes to get to the staging spot so no problem waiting.. and once your a seasoned pro, you will have no luggage (just carry on) and you will request your ride as you land! :p

Yep. NEVER order ride until you are in pick up area. Airport or hotel

I used the promo code to sign up for Uber, does it automatically take the promo code fist? Or do I need to activate it in the app?

    Thanks all!

I believe that once you order your first ride, the discount code will automatically be added.

    GOOD LUCK!

Maybe. but you have 5 minutes from car arrival or ride can be cancelled and you will be charged a cancel fee. Unless you make contact and have them wait longer. From MSS it is easy to order from room since it only takes a minute to get downstairs to pick up area. At Mirage and large hotels on strip it can take much much longer.

Thanks for all this info. On my next trip I'm probably going to skip the rental car for the first time. I hear ride share is all over the valley, but wasn't sure about the airport.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but do you have to worry about "long hauling" with Uber and Lyft like you do with taxis from the airport? Newbie rideshare user here too. Thanks.

If you think you've been long hauled and they agree with you, you can report them to Uber or Lyft and get a refund of the price difference.

Thanks, I don't think I worded my question correctly. When being picked up by Uber or Lyft at the airport do I say please take the cheapest route or will the app tell them which way to go? This will be my first time using rideshare from the airport.

The app typically will tell them the best route, but you can ask the driver to take another route. I think they have to flag the trip or something in the app if you ask to go a different route.
