Trips to Las Vegas

i assumed Lyft would take Paradise/Swenson to Flamingo but instead took the tunnel. I should have told the driver not to take the tunnel but when she did I asked why she hadn't taken Paradise/Swenson. She said there was an accident. Oh well next time I'm insisting ahead of time, no tunnel. I know that I could have given her a less than stellar rating but I didn't rate her. Also, I could file a complaint to Lyft but I'll just chalk it up as a loss. Next time I'll be sure to speak up before it's too late.

I'm sorry to hear this. I insisted ahead of time with an Uber driver to go no tunnel, and he chose to override that request. Sucks.

I have been taken the lest efficient route three times by different Lyft drivers this month. It's disappointing but I had 50% discount for the rides so I just let it ride.

The last driver I did call out and he told me he was just following his gps. He even showed me the gps and asked for my directions which I gladly give him.

I had a similar incident with Lyft. He said just following GPS. As they get more drivers less knowledgeable this is bound to happen more often. I think Lyft/Uber is cleaner, cheaper and better than a taxi but it still has it's limitations.

I had this happen in July with Uber. The guy was kind of a jerk the entire time, and he took the tunnel when going from Mandalay Bay to the Airport. I didn't argue with him because I was in a hurry, but I initiated a complaint via the Uber app and they refunded me half the fare. At least with Uber/Lyft you have some recourse. With the cabbies you have to stage a fight on the scene.

I didn't tip her, nor did I want to ruin her job with a poor rating. She did try to hurry up though. After we exited the freeway and when we were on Flamingo Blvd there was a long line of cars waiting to turn left onto Las Vegas Blvd and the line of cars were backed up to Caesar's. At first she waited in the back of the line of cars but then pulled out and cut in line closer to the intersection. Then when we got onto Las Vegas Blvd to turn right into the Flamingo's driveway she cut in front of another car trying to get through the throngs of people walking on Las Vegas Blvd.

I too was long hauled last week via the tunnel using Lyft. I left no tip and didn't give a 5 star rating. It asks for comments as to why not a perfect rating and I hit the navigation pre selected option. Again no tip. Didn't make a big deal about because that was my first ride with either lyft or uber and wasn't really sure how it all worked. Really, if I had known what I know now, I would have given a 1 star rating on top of it. If no one catches them long hauling, they'll keep long hauling.

I don't buy the just following gps excuse. I've had drivers override it because guess what, they know what the right route is.

if the long haul once they will keep doing it. get them off the road and always no how to get to point a to b the best way and there never a best time too take the tunnel. i live here .i see the tunnel 24 hours a day. friends dont let friends take the tunnel.

At least with Lyft and uber the price doesn't go up like crazy when you are stopped at a light.

I agree, you need to call these people out on it or else they will think they can get away with it and will try it all the time. I'm sorry, I hate getting ripped off by cabbies, lyft, etc.

I don't uber or lyft but when you order a driver I thought you got a confirmation on ur cell phone with description of the car a pic of the driver and the cost of the ride (I assume the last as I believe there is premium time or a higher rate time due to demand). Did I mistakenly assume one of the perks was regardless of traffic or route, you knew the price and just had to calculate the tip.?
Not trying to get into a lengthy debate but would like to be enlightened.

I don't want to be that guy who possibly got the driver terminated. Maybe she has 3 kids to support and she just got off food stamps to try and support her family. What should have cost me $11 turned out to be $14 by taking the tunnel (the app displayed a fare estimate of $11-$14 before confirming the order), it's a paltry $3 extra and not worth ruining her job, IMHO. I'm aware that she might keep taking the tunnel to long haul other passengers but I don't want to be that guy who possibly got her fired, I already called her out asking why she didn't take Paradise/Swenson (even though I know she bullshxx saying there was an accident). Who knows she might have to go back to welfare if she gets fired and that would cost all of us more in taxes.

Welfare? 3 kids? Food stamps? Those are a lot of very interesting assumptions about someone you rode with for 15-20 mins. Why not "college student trying to pay tuition"? Gee, I wonder if anything could be influencing your imaginary scenario.

Ha-ha, I admit that I'm just making things up but I wouldn't want to get her fired.

She could always drive a taxi. :poke:

You could use the same reasoning why cabbies long haul. And we don't have a problem whether they will have a job if we call them out on it or if they are ever fired because we turned them in.

Long haul for $3 more? I think she would do better to give excellent service with a smile and be polite and friendly. I tend to give better tips to those drivers. For the long haulers I tend to not give any tip so whatever they made by long hauling is negated by the loss of a tip. I got long hauled over 10 years ago, when I paid the guy he gave me the "wink wink" and asked for a tip. My response, "my tip, stop long hauling and ripping off customers". And then I walked away.

$3 in LV is change. 5 years ago a taxi long haul would cost you about $10.

Old man got too old to play golf back in the day so spent all day in the clubhouse playing high stakes (whatever that is) gin rummy. I remember standing there when a visitor came in and asked if any one could change a 100$ bill. A.C. looked up and said "Son, that IS change". Depends on where you are coming from I suppose.
