    My Trip Report

The day has arrived once more; less than 24 hours to departure. Has it really been over 12 months since my last TR? Time continues to tick by more and more quickly as the years pass. Good for Vegas trips. Bad for mortality. Screw it. It's Vegas time.

Heading out from the east coast on the early flight. Arrival around 11:00 a.m. Vegas time. Staying at the Park MGM. Aria is my normal hangout, but Park gave me four nights comped with no resort fees and a boatload of food and beverage credit. I should blow through that in about 45 minutes if I'm on my game.

    Here's the plan:

    Gambling
Pai Gow Poker, specifically Face-Up Pai Gow at Park. I played it a bunch last time. The odds are decent and the swings very manageable. Good game if you want to bleed out slowly and drink a ton. I'm sure I'll meander over to Aria for regular Pai Gow as well. But I'm especially excited about playing Pai Gow Tiles for the first time live. I've spent the last three weeks learning how to play. I even bought myself a set of tiles off Amazon. Totally worth it. Even slower than Pai Gow Poker, with a high push rate. Plus, I want to be the only non-Asian at the table. Seems like it'll be fun.

I may try to play in one of Aria's daily poker tournaments as well. But that necessitates staying sober until 1:30 p.m. and that is a tall order. And of course, there will be a smattering of Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Video Poker, ill-informed sports betting, etc. It depends on my mood.

    Food
I've been dying to try Jean Georges at Aria. Been to a couple of steakhouses in Vegas, and they rarely disappoint. Breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi is also a perennial favorite of mine, so let's assume that's on the menu as well. Maybe Javier's at some point too. Their margaritas are slammin'.

    After Dark
My two favorite things to do at night in Vegas are karaoke at Ellis Island and getting a table at a club. I know, a stark juxtaposition. I'm an enigma, what can I say? Tomorrow night, I'll inevitably end up at the Chandelier Bar (Cosmo) for a Verbena or two, then wander over to Ellis Island and belt out some Journey to the adulation of three dozen drunks. Bottle service on Tuesday or Wednesday (Omnia or 1OAK). I'm not sure yet. No one super famous is spinning either night, but any time I end up with a table, I make a lot of new friends. Duh.

For those of you who have followed along with my reports in the past, you can expect more of the same: random pictures of stuff I find interesting, occasional chips in my hand, drinks, etc. I also like to post short, pithy observations along with said photos.

Anyone in town is welcome to find me. I'm super extroverted, and love meeting new people. First round is always on me. And if not, that's cool too. I'm never alone when I'm in Vegas.

Follow along, won't you? Expect a post or two from the airport, a pre-flight beverage picture, and an enthusiastic start to the shenanigans around 11:00 a.m. Vegas time tomorrow. Enjoy the ride.

    Or don't. I don't care.

    Santé,
    TL

Have a great time! I loved JeanGeorges, they definitely made me feel like the most important “madame” in the room. It was nice and dark and not too loud when we went, but I haven’t been since the renovation. The bar looks solid too. Will be following along.

The limo arrived to pick me up a few minutes early, and I’m officially underway. Hopefully traffic will be light. It typically is at ass o’clock.

Flight appears to be on time.

Buckle your chinstraps, boys and girls. It’s party time.

    Santé,

Traffic was very light, and I managed to eke out a few more minutes of shuteye in the limo. Cooling my heels in the lounge for an hour or so. [IMG]

The espresso machine was out of order, so I’m relegated to drip coffee. Not that I’m opposed to drip coffee, mind you. Free coffee is better than, well, pretty much any other type of coffee.

And no razzing me for posting a picture of coffee in a Vegas TR. I’m getting to the good stuff soon.

    Santé,
    TL

    Boarding in a few minutes...

I love how everyone rushes to get in line. It’s not leaving without you. We’re all going to the same place. And you have an assigned seat! Relax, Chuck Yeager.

Sounds like you have what you need, a BR, a room, hopes and dreams. Let's see if the motherland treats you well. Enjoy.
