When I was in the US last year I bunged the maid at the Grand Hyatt Denver $20 for some extra toiletries. I did the same at Planet Hollywood. I was pretty proud of myself until I got back to McCarran and had a gigantic f**king excess baggage bill to pay. To be fair, the 10KG of Jolly Rancher's didn't do me any favours either.

If you bunged the maid for $20, I'd say you got a pretty good deal either way.

No matter what hotel/motel/no-tel I stay at I bring home the soap and shampoo. Either it is used when we want to donate to a charity/shelter OR when we may run out due to my lack of attention to detail. Just last night I used shampoo from the Flamingo. I have a whole bag of the stuff, going to Dallas in two weeks and will raid the Marroitts stuff too.

Oh, and I have only had to tip the maids a buck or two to get LOTs of extra.

I also donate mine. We started when we used to go to Disney World a few times a year, and would collect all the mickey soaps, etc and give them to a woman that collected them and put together baskets for the kids at the children's hospital. With my regular hotel stuff, I have a friend that volunteers at a shelter in Boston and they really appreciate getting the stuff.

Every time I stay at THE hotel or MB we get extras shampoo, bath salts, soap etc from the maid, my GF loves that stuff. They recently changed the brand at THE hotel, it's not as good as it used to be.

When I had a room at THE hotel 2 weekends ago I gave the maid a $20 and asked her if she had a few robes that we could keep, she came back with 3 brand new ones and asked me if I wanted anymore!! My friend said he checked in the gift shop and they were around $150 each. The robe trick has also worked at the Venetian but that time my friend gave her a $100, she brought 4 robes, 4 pairs of slippers and I thought she was gonna give him a hummer since she was so psyched to get the hundo!

    Logo ash trays

Remember the logo hotel ash trays? They were beautiful and had the name of the hotels. I used to take them all the time.

The only things I like to collect now are the writing pens with the names of the Hotels and the writing pads in the room.

I stayed at Ballys recently and they didn't have any pens or writing pads or letter paper in my room. Ba hum bug! When I checked out I noticed a bunch of pens on a table for customer use so I took one home. I also had to ask for writing paper so I could do my trip report.lol.

Planet Hollywood has pretty pens with the fake diamonds and silver gray colored.

What hotels have some pretty cool writing pens? LucyR.

I pretty much use some sort of casino "donated" item every day. Have a nice stash of once brand new household items obtained during the openings of the past few years (Palazzo, Encore, Aria, Cosmo).

Rocks glasses and a few very nice specialty dishes from Encore.

My son dropped a full glass of OJ just tonight in a glass of Bellagio origin. My wife commented how that must be one hell of a well constructed glass as it did not break.

I was just thinking about how on my upcoming trip I'll prob just carry on and will have little propensity to fit any loot in for my return.

When the Venetian and the Bellagio first opened I remember the toilet paper in their public bathrooms being very nice and soft! And now...thin and junk!

Oh he can fly SW if he wants so if he wants to I think he can do a checked bag.

I have noticed CET props vary a lot now as to whether or not they put pens in the rooms & paper. I went a couple trips at Flamingo with none. This trip they had the small paper plus a pen. However I left a note & asked for additional pens & didn't receive any more (normally they always accomodate a request) - however she left us way more toiletries in the bathroom than we needed. Paris last trip in November had no pens in the room either. I had to scarf the ones from the buffet (they give Plat/Diam members a 'survey' card to complete & give a pen with it).

I had to throw a Paris pen away the other day that ran out of ink.

I really can only take the 'complimentary' items. I can't nab the dishes etc that people seem to like. I have to be bonded in my employment so obviously taking anything that could be classified as possible theft is out of the picture.

Another item I like is the small jelly jars that some restaurants put out on the table. I sometimes will grab one of those - even if just to have something sweet in my purse in case my blood sugar drops. But I don't dump them all in my purse like my husbands great aunt used to do................

OMG, that is my Mom-in-Law! She will strip everything from a room, restaurant table, I even caught her with a napkin full of bread from Grand Lux in her giant handbag once and the little butter knife to go with it.

We don't take toiletries like we used to because we do carry-on so we are limited. In the days when you could check bags for free my husband loaded up with soap, shampoo, etc. We use some of what we bring back but also donate to homeless shelter or church food pantry which also asks for toiletries.

You guys and gals are all amateurs!

All I can say is to "making the friends" with a housekeeper. One each floor, there is a "housekeeping" room with all manners of luxuries. Many that you will never see in the room unless you ask.

I think I've said too much already.

    You're welcome.

We went to Estatorio Milos (sp?) a couple of weeks ago and witness the theft of at least three sets of cutlery with their to go items. This was two people getting half of the meal to go. They were quite blatant about it too. I can understand some taking of items generally, but that was beyond belief.

I do take toiletries from El Cortez Cabana Suites, Silverton and South Point. The rest, I'm not really bothered about.

M Resort has great pens. I asked the front desk lady for one and she gave me a few. They are nice looking pens and I love the way they write.

....one would think a hotel comforter would be pretty dicey....unless that hotel comforter is brought to your Aria Sky Suite on opening weekend, brand new, still sealed in the original wrapper, nicely folded by the factory for easy suitcase storage....:evillaugh

At worst it is a "purchase". They have your credit card on file to cover any incidentals. I believe at Wynn and maybe one other property I've stayed at they actually have a sign to the effect that you'll be charged for any items missing at the end of the stay. I would venture a guess that in the history of humanity, very few have been prosecuted for theft based on a hotel indiscretion.

Additionally, I believe U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld the laws of interstate commerce with respect to the "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" doctrine, disallowing the influence of any "Vegas Crimes" on bondage.:evillaugh
