Wife and I are going to Vegas at the end of August for 9 days. We stay on the strip half the trip and DT half the trip. We are low rollers so we spend more time downtown playing as max slot hits DT are much smaller than the strip. I could plat $5 craps almost anywhere DT before COVID.

Now, my brother in law is going to be there the first weekend we are in Vegas. He only stays a Caesars and normally plays at Ballys/Paris. He's a doctor that has no problem playing $10 max odds even at a 10X table.

He wants to play some craps with me, but he's not going to go DT. It's "beneath him". He's also likely to only play at Caesars properties since he's has high status with him.

Any idea where he and I can play together and both be comfortable? I much prefer the $5 tables as I on'y have a $400 a day bankroll, where his will likely be $1200 or more.

Depending on what is open when you are there, Ballys, Harrahs, and Flamingo tend to have the lowest minimum craps tables at CET properties. $5 may still be hard. But if you want your bankroll to last, just play the line without odds or other bets. $400 will last a long time at a $10 table if you only make the line bet

@UKFanatic - I forgot about Harrah's as I've never played craps there, only UTH or other carnival games with my wife.

I normally risk $34 per shooter on a $10 table (place the 5-6-8) and collect the first two hits. Then place the 9 and press one unit.

I prefer not to play the pass line unless I'm shooting or way up.

I think I can talk him into Bally's Harrah's. I'm not sure his feelings about Flamingo.

Originally, we planned to stay at Rio (and still have our reservation in case they open). He was willing to meet me over there (Rio had $5 tables in Feb), but we are not looking for somewhere else to play.

The other difficult part is this will be a weekend, due to when they will be in town. Hoping he will want to play during the day and go out to eat/drink at night.

I have always been able to find 10 tables at the Rio. TBH their dealers are some of the better and friendlier CET dealers in Vegas.

If he likes Bally's and Paris, you may be OK there. At least he is not set on CP to play, which is always too high a minimum for me. Cromwell would be another option to look at, but CET had gotten stange with their minimums, and seemed to be $15 at Cromwell when I could find $10 at MLife properties like Bellagio and Aria. One of the reasons I focus on MLife now for my craps play, as I got tired of hunting for what might be a minimum I was happy with. (No idea what minimums are like now though.)

Since you like placing 5-6-8, one way to extend this out is going just 6-8, and then do similar for the 5 to what you do with the 9. (Of course, I'm a normal pass line and place 6-8 player (collect then press), so it's closer to what I do in general. I'll do the 5 or 9 if the point is 6 or 8.)

I agree. We love the Rio and still have reservations for August, but they aren't open. I haven't heard anything about them opening.

I've never been in Bally's before, just their food court. I know he likes to eat at the burger place there. We may end up doing Paris as both our wives love the food at Paris. I've been in the Cromwell, but never played there. That's another good option.

I'm with you, I seem to be able to find lower limits at MGM properties (read Excalibur) but in Feb even Excalibur was $10, only crapless was $5.

We are staying at Luxor in the Pyramid room, I'm hoping that he would come over to play with us for an hour since it's our anniversary. We might eat at Public House for dinner. Luxor had $10 craps pre-COVID.

In the current situation with only 3 players on each side of the table, I rarely see $10 tables. I was at Vegas 2 weeks ago on the weekend and found min $25 at Caesars Palace, $15 at Harrahs, $10 at Wynn and $10 at Palace Station.

2 year ago my sister, Flowers, got me a 3 night comp at Encore. I found that the Encore always had at least 1 $10.00 table even on weekends!

Let me tell you a story . . . there was a guy who use to frequent this board, and I met up with him for dinner. It was his turn to reciprocate, so I met him over at Tropicana. Now this guy had a minimum $10,000 marker at every casino on the strip, and I met him in the High Roller slot room at the Trop, and he was playing $10 or $25 slots. I decided, in the sense of camaraderie, to stay in the High Roller room with him . . . well, $1000 down (and I was only playing $5.00 slots) about 30 minutes later . . . . we went to dinner . . . . it was a good dinner, but . . . . . .

The lesson to be learned is . . . . NEVER, and I mean NEVER, be "forced" to play above your bet level. If the tables are too high, tell your companion "too rich for my blood", and walk away. He should understand. He's your BIL and you're married to his sister . . . .

    Just my $0.02

When I was in town last weekend minimums were high or tables weren’t even open. Most casinos are struggling with dealers calling in sick and are short staffed. Craps takes 3 dealers plus a box at some properties. I would recommend Harrahs or Cromwell if it opens.

yep, this is what I have been hearing too. Local places are running their tables with higher limits as well around here.

Here is my input from pre-Covid.
Heading there in mid Aug and can provide an updated.
For CET properties here is my input for Craps.
Caesars - avoid. Not sure you can get me to play here.
Harrahs - their tables seem to be a bit longer than the other places except for the one by the opening facing the Linq. That table seems to be the typical size and its the only table I find available. For some reason the inside tables are always packed.
Flamingo - haven't really played there because tables are usually packed.
Paris - seems to be the best place to find an open table.
Ballys - next best place to find an opening but they do fill up quickly.
    PH - always packed

    ETA :
If he is a dr and dt is "beneath him", he seems like a perfect fit for Caesars.
BTW, dt is a great place for craps.

He only stays at Caesars Palace. I'd love to play there with him, but I can't afford to play that way. Ballys and Paris seems like where we would play.

I'd love to get him down to Golden Gate, my favorite place to play, but I'd have to trick him or get him really drunk.

    Thanks for all the info.

Just because you travel together doesn’t mean you play together. If he is a good person, he will run downtown and play with you at your casinos. If he does, build a bankroll downtown and then take it to CP and play a session or two with him.

I understand what you are saying.

The other trick I had up my sleeve is the Friday we are all in Vegas together is our 5th wedding anniversary. If they wanted to take us to dinner, we would suggest Pizza Rock, which gets them downtown. And I mean we are already there, we could walk over to the DT Grand and play an hour right?

We originally planned to go to Caesar's Windsor this summer and stay a night and play some craps. That would have worked for both of us. It's a Caesar's property, adult tower. But obviously that won't happen.

Or we wait until next year. He is curious about Circa, I can trap him downtown once he gets there :)

    We live different lives.

I don't want to make him sound bad, just that they have some standards. To each their own.
