I've seen the pics. I've heard the discussions, or complaints, if you will. But I've never experienced a long wait at the front desk in Las Vegas.

How do I get so lucky? And why doesn't it transfer over to actual gambling?

So, what days or time of days do people go that they often experience the huge lines while waiting to check in?

Here is my details of my 5 trips including where, day and approximate time that I arrived:
    1. MGM Grand - Saturday @ 10:30am
    2. Mandalay Bay - Sunday @ 7:00pm
    3. NYNY - Monday @ 9:30pm
    4. Bellagio - Sunday @ 2:00pm
    5. NYNY - Monday @ 4:00pm

The first three trips I had less than half a dozen people in line ahead of me. The Bellagio was a bit longer but nothing to complain about and my last trip was a longer lineup at NYNY but again, maybe 10-12 people ahead of me. My upcoming trip I'll be arriving around 11:00am on a Monday and I feel like I'll be lucky again.

Are the long lineups mostly reserved for Thursday - Saturday?

I had a 45 minute wait at Bellagio a few years ago on a Saturday around 8:00pm or so. I've seen some pretty long check-ins at MGM in the past as well, particularly on Thursdays around 8:00-9:00pm.

Since then I have the Mlife Discover so I get priority check-in and don't have to worry about it as much.

You've been lucky because most of the time you checked in on the "slow" days. On Sundays and Mondays the weekenders are all checking out to go home. Not as many people checking in as they are checking out.

Now try checking in on a Friday afternoon or evening, especially before a long holiday weekend. Lines will be long because everyone is trying to start their vacation on Friday night.

I've seen long lines at the Bellagio and MB

Ironically, I feel like my longest waits are when the lines are the shortest in the priority lines. I've been in a line at MB only 2 people deep and it took close to 20 minutes because the room they wanted wasn't available (think it was 8 or 9 pm at night). I did get upgraded to the Delano because of the wait, so wasn't that bad. I was in the priority line at Delano a few weeks ago and waited about 15 minutes, I think I was better off waiting in the regular line.

The longest wait (someone I was traveling with experienced) was at MGM back in August 2014. The entire check-in system was shutdown across all properties. I believe it took them 2 or 3 hours to get their room. Ended up getting all their resort fees taken off (5 nights worth) and I believe some resort credit.

Shortest wait would be at the Delano when my severely delayed flight got in around 4 am, walked into the lobby and had to find someone to check me in. Kind of creepy to see that lobby so empty.

Have Bellagio booked for July 4th weekend. I will be using invited guest check-in. I would think will all the tourist they would just get in line anywhere regardless if the are mlife gold and above. At least if I have a 30-45 minute wait to check in, that will save me a few hundy in the casino!!!

At the invited guest line I've not waited more than 15 minutes and usually arrive between noon and 3pm. Rarely have many people in front of me but it is my opinion that people arriving on comps are more picky so take a bit longer to check in.

The casino thinks I'm a peon but to my non gambling and non Vegas veteran friends think I'm a whale. I always arrange for a limo on arrival. Haven't reached platinum for a few years but I book on comps so use the invited guest line. Last November I had a friend along because she wanted to go to a concert, doesn't gamble at all. We arrive at Bellagio where the check in line is snaked all around the lobby. I told her to follow me and we get in the guest line with one person ahead of us. Her mouth dropped open. I pay for a suite upgrade and took the VIP elevators not far off the lobby to get there. We arrive at the room and she sees the view of the fountains. Her jaw didn't close for about an hour. Vegas is the only place I go all out and although I don't take all this luxury for granted, I really enjoy seeing it through another's eyes.

We checked in to Bally's last Friday after lunch and the regular check in line was pretty long. Lucky for me I can use the diamond check-in and it was empty. After checking in and going up to our room to put away our stuff we came back down to the TR desk and the line was still crazy long.

We take the earliest flight out available. We've landed as early as 8am Vegas time, only recall waiting an extended time once at the Flamingo several years ago

The worst was Rio during a time when Caesars was in bad financial shape a couple years ago and had ordered desk clerks to charge early check-in up to 3 pm. Literally everyone there waited until 3 to check in and it must have been a 90 minute line.

Other bad one was MGM Grand, but it was customer related. Brain donor ahead of me was trying to use a new, unactivated credit card and she couldn't activate in line because she had to call from her home phone.

Funny that during my 11 trips, ranging from Hooters to Caesar's Palace, worst wait I had was at Aria. The rest were mostly a breeze like the OP. And of course they were all at different days and time of days.

Also once I was playing at Tropicana, and behind the tables I could see a looong line for the folks trying to check in. However, I saw some guy, like a manager, apologizing personally to each customer and delivering free water himself. It was a really great service move, which I wish I had experienced during the wait at Aria check in as well.

Only one long wait for me. At Flamingo.
Every time I walk through Harrah's there always seems to be quite a line-up for check-in there!

So far I've been lucky. Had VIP check-in at PH, so no line there. And, at The D, I've always just walked right up.
