Enjoying this TR a lot, glad you ditched you're melodramatic friend, people like that should just stay home. Nobody likes petulant people weighing down the vibe in Vegas.

Excited to hear your next updates!

Had a wonderful dinner at Ruth’s Chris. I love the setup taking the elevator up, and the view over this part of the strip at sunset was gorgeous. The steak was delicious, not quite as wonderful as Strip House but so very close. I also had an ahi tuna appetizer that was spicy and great.

After dinner, been playing slots and winning since. Started with 20 and at 40 now. Nice little $10 wins here and there on 30 cent spins. Tier score is up to 470 or so it’s saying. Here is a picture of my biggest win since dinner:

Now just playing a couple more slots before the tournament begins. I upped the level of my edibles again since doing so yesterday put me in the zone. Took 10 chocolate squares. Going to enjoy this ride!

By the way, love the Chinese New Year decorations all over the Strip:

Made the final table!!! Pretty much in name only. I had 4000 when we merged to the final table and that was only after an all-in bet that I did when I only had 1000 and I won with an ace high. Still, had a great time.

Unfortunately, I don’t want to risk being stoned enough tomorrow to be in the mindset I am loving to be in for these tournaments. I wouldn’t want to miss my flight.

So of course I registered for the 10 PM tournament! In the meantime, more slots. I am feeling the chocolates massively. 9 or 10 squares of 8.8 mg is the right amount for me, I have high tolerance.

I’m thinking not many people will be in the next tournament. Maybe I can sneak my way into making the money.

By the way, basketball parlay hit! I count sports bets as losses when I make them so there’s a $72 swing for the better!

So got knocked out of the second tournament under very similar circumstances to the first. I just made it past the break and onto the final table. I got knocked out by the only other player whose chip count was comparable to mine...aka low. It was a bumfight, and he won.

Despite only getting one win in all the tournaments I did, I consider the time and money I spent on them to have been spent extremely well. I had so much fun. I absolutely see myself building future trips around them, and I’m keen to try out some different poker rooms around the Strip.

Tonight is the last night of my longest trip to Vegas ever. I have absolutely no regrets about anything on this trip. Minus the minor Slam annoyance, I’ve been on Cloud Nine the entire time, and even that was momentary.

This has been my best Vegas trip ever. Tonight and tomorrow, my goal is to do what I can to make future trips happen. That involves boosting my tier credits. TR is my Vegas home and I have had excellent luck at Harrah’s with slots. Perfect combination.

I went and sat down at the Hot Hearts machine I have been having a lot of luck at. I had a $25 voucher and I put it in and started betting 30 cents a spin. I figure I’ll play it till it’s down to nothing. No way I can keep up this luck forever. For about 45 minutes, small to moderate wins keep me going but the trend is downward. Then, when I have less than $3 left in, I hit the biggest slot jackpot of the trip:

My $25 is now $140+. I’m going to play this machine down to $100 (if it ever gets there) and take things from there. I bought just the right amount of weed chocolate to allow me to gorge. I’m going to enjoy the night and the satisfaction that comes with having done Vegas right.

For those wondering about Slam, we’ve exchanged texts a couple times. I know he went to Suncoast at one point but aside from that, he’s been hanging around the Linq, mostly in his room due to a tummy ache. To be perfectly honest, I am overjoyed at my decision to ditch him. In the past, I would have felt compelled to deal with bullshit like that and my trip would be ruined. Instead, I feel on top of the world.

    It’s great to be alive!

So it took me a LONG time to play that machine down to $100. I was there for over two hours getting bonus after bonus. As I mentioned before, the machine’s soundtrack consists of a woman moaning in a very sexual way. This attracted a lot of attention from passers by, many of whom stopped to play a bit. One lady who stopped I heard speaking Spanish to her husband. As best a gringo can do it, I told her “esta maquina paga mucho.” She sat down and put $100 in and had $225 within a couple of spins.

Obviously, racking up tier credits at 30 cents a spin is not the quickest task. I see the countdown as it goes from 500 down to 0, when it shows another tier credit earned. After countless bonuses, some of them relatively huge, they started coming less frequently and they were on the smaller side. And I have to admit that after two hours staring at the same machine, one’s eyes need a rest. I eventually reached $100 just as I hit 50 tier credits for the session. Considering I put $25 into the machine and I was there for hours with great entertainment and conversation, I am very happy with that. I love the Vegas scene in the dead of night.

I was getting tired but wanted a late night snack. Why not one more hot dog from Casino Royale? I walked over there and found the $5 craps table almost empty. I lost $67 fairly quickly and cashed out. Got my hot dog which was delicious as usual.

I wasn’t quite ready to call it a night so I walked back through Harrah’s and played a couple of slots. Got a couple moderate wins like this:

After going up a bit, I worked my way back down to $100, still a win on slots at Harrah’s on the day. I haven’t done my accounting yet and I’ll report on exactly how I did in terms of tier credits and bankroll tomorrow. However, doing the basic math in my head I am ahead the way I look at it. When I commit to a gambling budget, I immediately consider that money gone. Anything that remains after the trip is a win. Between the two basketball parlays that hit, the poker tournament I co-won, and pretty sweet slot wins throughout the past couple of days, I am definitely within my initial $1500 bankroll. I was willing to negotiate the bankroll a bit but I don’t think I needed to. We will see how tomorrow goes.

I will be getting up early to call and request late check out. They told me I could only do it day of. My flight isn’t until 4:50 so I’d like to have the room as long as possible. Whenever I have to check out, I’ll leave the bags at the bell desk. The plan is to continue racking up those tier credits and hopefully some wins.

I type this at nearly 3:45 in the morning and I can luckily go to bed with the comfort of knowing I made the most of every Vegas hour.

It comes every trip, and here I am on the final day. Got a nice few hours sleep then called and had no problem getting extended check out till noon. However, that definitely doesn’t mean I want to stay in the room all day. I slept till 8:45 and then started cleaning up and getting everything ready so I can just stop in and get my bags later on.

In the process, i organized my remaining weed. I have an abundance, which is a much better problem to have than being short. I actually have two totally unused vape pens still in the package, in addition to some chocolate.

I decided on an easier ride today on the chocolates for obvious reasons. Took 7 and zipped up 7 to take later before going through security. My plane boards at 4:20 ;)

I walked downstairs to cash my basketball parlay and got $72. I have about $300 to work with today. On 30 cent spins, that should last a while. I plan to get an early lunch around 11:15 and then a snack before leaving for the airport.

Hope to report some wins on the final day!

This is a fantastic trip report - I'm sorry you are going home soon. It has only been mentioned briefly a few times, but your sports book betting is unbelievable. If I remember correctly, you have picked six out of seven games - any professional gambler would be jealous. You should be more on basketball and less on craps.:) Again great report.

Thanks Diamond Jim! I appreciate that. I found it very funny because I follow college football obsessively yet miss the majority of my bets. For college basketball, I read a few articles and listened to sports radio a bit to catch up and I do great. I’ve had great luck in my bracket pools the past few years, maybe I’m a savant.

I played at Harrah’s for a while and had some moderate wins to keep me going. The machine I spent the most time on was More Chili and the best win was:

I ended up cashing out for $45 and decided I’d better go check out before it gets too close to noon. I made my way to Linq and I had a tiny 29 cent voucher so I put in $10 and ran it through. A few small wins on a Bull machine but nothing crazy.

I went up to check out and it was then that I faced a dilemma that had been bothering me: how do I prevent my excess weed from going to waste? I considered going downstairs and offering my unused vape pens to random people who looked like they smoked but I figured that could get me in trouble.

All the in Vegas but especially on the last day, I think about the countless people who are working their asses off while we have our fun. I don’t mean to be a Slammy Downer but I think about it because, with almost zero exceptions, the people I encounter working in Vegas are among the most professional anywhere. The service is second to none, I never deal with problem employees. These people, from the dealers to the housekeepers, are awesome and I try my best to show my appreciation when I can.

I therefore had the novel idea to leave my weed to the cleaning lady. She wrote me a nice note on my first day so I wrote her one.

The bags are small and thin and can be concealed easily, but if she were to take the pens out of the bags which is easy, she could take them home with literally no problem. It may be a long shot, but I hope it works. Those things are $40 each but are high quality. Everyone deserves quality weed.

I made my way to the elevators where a couple said they had been waiting 10 minutes. I’ve heard this a lot. We all took the stairs down 6 floors. I left my bags at the bell desk. I put my computer bag in my big suitcase. I am writing that here to help me remember so I don’t get scared when I don’t see it. I did the express check out which was the same kiosk as express check in and it was even easier.

After that, I was not sure what to do for lunch. I debated going to Caesars or Bellagio but it’s very cold today (for a Floridian) and I wanted to minimize walking outside. I ended up playing a couple slots at Flamingo and got some In’N’Out. Just as great as a couple days ago.

Now, I’m sitting at a slot machine at Flamingo with the rest of my milkshake ready to give the slots one last go. If things are not going well, I will head over to Harrah’s to see if Hot Hearts has one more streak in her.

I have to be in line for my bag by 2:40 at the latest, so 2+ hours more of Vegas fun!

What would happen to you in Florida if you checked your bag with the leftovers. Then if asked say something like "I was in Las Vegas and it was legal and apparently of such potency I have inadvertently returned with it to a state where it is illegal". Not trying to encourage others but just wondered. We fly into Austin most likely. I think at worst they would tell you to throw it away if convinced (record search for priors) it was isolated. And Texas can be real conservative.

I played slots at Flamingo for a little bit before deciding to head back over to Harrah’s for one last hurrah. I paid visits to my treasure chests this trip: Hot Hearts and More Chili. Both of them had some small wins for me that kept me going as I racked up the tier credits. Eventually, the $40 I initially put into Hot Hearts zeroed out on More Chili. It wasn’t quite 2 yet and so i went to find another machine.

I ended up sitting down at an Aztec Sol machine right in the middle of the main thoroughfare inside Harrah’s. The game had the bonus structure I’ve been having some success with, but more than that I wanted to be sitting in the middle of it all.

Even on a Sunday afternoon when more people are at the end of their trips than at the beginning, the atmosphere in Vegas is absolutely electric. People are just happy and beaming. It’s unlike anywhere else in my opinion. For me, Harrah’s just can’t be beat for that vibe. It’s an overused term maybe but it’s a very real thing. I sat for hours and hours this trip pushing one button like an automatron. But the entire time I was doing so, my spirits were high just be virtue of my surroundings.

Unfortunately, the lucky streak from the past few days died out today. I was down $250 and it was 2:15 so I headed over to Linq. I had several more minutes to spare and I didn’t want to grab a drink so I picked another machine. I chose a Panda one since that’s the nickname of someone very close to me.

I soon hit a bonus and it awards me something like 24 free games. They start going and I am winning a tiny amount from each. Then it spins again and suddenly I find myself with 222 free games and 15 minutes before I need to leave for the airport.

I had never before hoped to not get more free games, but I was here. I would have had to call the slot attendant to cash out mid-game. Miraculously, in none of the 222 games did more free games get triggered. Instead, I spun through as fast as possible, racking up pennies here and pennies there, and I ended up with a $52 win. Perfect ending to my gambling this trip.

I redeemed my ticket and headed over to the bell desk where I quickly got my bags. I then go outside and find that there are no taxis. The attendant tells me they don’t know when they will have more but they have already called. I don’t think I mentioned this, but my phone had had issues connecting to the Linq network all trip. It was jamming up now and therefore I couldn’t call an Uber. I dashed over to Harrah’s and was relieved to find they had no cab shortage. I hopped in one and was at the airport in 15 minutes.

Before proceeding through security, there was one more item of business I had to attend to:

For the person who asked, I know people get away with bringing stuff home but the risk to me isn’t worth it especially considering I can get it if I want it. I imagine these babies will kick in right around takeoff which means I should be riding high most of the way home.

I will tell you: sitting at the airport leaving Vegas is always a bummer. But this time is much more sweet than bittersweet. I could not be happier with how I chose to spend my time. I’ve loved every trip, and once again, the latest was the greatest.

You can look out for a recap post from me either from the plane (if the WiFi works) or from home tomorrow, a few takeaways and things I forgot to mention. But aside from that, this trip report is finished.

Thanks so much for coming along for the ride. This became a de facto solo trip, but I was glad to have you all with me.
