Carnegie is a favorite of mine. Its consistently good. Slam is being a bit dramatic and there is always that one guy in the crew. Maybe he just needs a reminder that hes an adult and your in Vegas.
Keep up the fun and keep playing tournaments since you are enjoying them. Win or lose it sounds like youre having fun!

That sucks about Slam, dude. Trying to babysit for someone in Vegas is a buzzkill (albeit, shortlived usually).

Hello everyone, I appreciate the kind words!

I got eliminated from the Mirage tournament after a while. To be honest I am not sure what level it was because the TV still had the info for the earlier tournament that was still going. the blinds were 800-1600. The break was at level 3 and this was well after that. I had an Ace and a King, both hearts and the only other guy in the pot had a 10 and a Jack of hearts. We turned cards over before the community cards were dealt. Unfortunately for me, a Jack was in there and neither of mine.

This was another very enjoyable tournament. I felt like this one was slightly more tourist oriented than the others which I thought would level the playing field a bit. The guy next to me was a much older alumnus of my university so that was a cool coincidence. The Gator Nation is everywhere.

I had such a good time that why not do one more today? Or maybe even two...? Hopefully not two because hopefully the next one goes for five hours and I win. I walked over to Harrah’s and asked if they had a 7 PM tournament today too since Slam and I did one yesterday. They said yes but it’s a $105 bounty tournament. It’s $70 plus a $25 bounty that a player gets when they knock you out. That sounded super cool to me and why not try something different for my sixth tournament in three days!

I’m here at Harrah’s hanging out. I have a little while to spare so will be pulling a couple slots but could see myself fitting in a brief power nap. After all, it is going to be a late night. I had a great time at 3 AM downtown on my last trip, let’s see what happens this time.

Not bad for 40 cents a spin!!!

Up $40 playing slots at Harrah’s. I’m taking a nap.

Had a nice little rest then got up and went over to Casino Royale for a quick snack - a $2.49 hot dog of course. Then went back to slots at Harrah’s and had continued good luck. Below is a pic of the best win. The machine was hilarious, a woman morning and flirting the whole time.

Now I’m headed into the tournament. Excited to see how the most high stakes tournament I’ve entered so far is different from the rest. The bounty should make it extra interesting. The 9 squares of weed chocolate I consumed should also make it interesting, as the highest I had done prior was 6.

For afterwards - any suggestions on a good late night dinner spot on Fremont Street?

I co-won!!! Down to final four, other player proposed splitting. We did. $250 each. Two of those $25 chips are bounties I earned from knocking a player out. Freaking amazing time.

Now back to Linq real quick then off to downtown!

By the way, had decent slot luck on the break betting 30 cents a spin:

    Congrats on the poker tourney!

And the whole harrahs buffet thing. I feel like that could have been solved with a phone call and "walk over here". Lol

I'm sure this has been covered in other threads, but I'll just go directly to the source... I understand rec weed is now legal in Nevada, but how is it regulated? For instance, smoking cigarettes is obviously legal anywhere in the states, but one can't smoke in certain bars/restaurants/areas. Can one just consume a chocolate bar anywhere at anytime? And where exactly can one smoke, or not smoke?

Ironically, I'm not a smoker but this new legalization fascinates me.

It's supposed to be private consumption only. Not legal to consume anywhere in public. But like in many other things in Vegas, the law is going to generally look the other way on if you're going to consume edibles out on the Strip (hard to tell anyway) or smoking weed (easy to tell, damn that shit stinks) outside in public.

So I asked the taxi guy in front of the Linq where he’d start downtown and he said Plaza. Went there and thought it was nice but wasn’t feeling the vibe. The music was like from a bar mitzvah. Lame, generic stuff. I moved over to the Golden Gate and I know this will be controversial but I liked the whole ambiance they’ve got going on. Sure the music could be a tad lower, but it’s the kind of music I’m looking to hear on a Friday night gambling on Fremont Street. It’s pump-up music. Maybe it’s just the Millennial in me talking.

Anyway, lost maybe $60 between Plaza and Golden Gate on slots with no real wins along the way. I went over to Fremont intending to play some slots using my Boyd players card. The $5 craps table was mostly empty and I bought in for $100. Some small wins but mostly 7 out - I lost $33 in 20 minutes or so which isn’t terrible. I went to the cashier and the lady who helped me was coughing and sneezing like crazy, barely able to muster the voice to count my change as she hands it to me. In my opinion, that’s a big strike against Fremont. They should not be allowing someone so obviously contagious to be in a situation where they are regularly interacting with customers, or with anyone really.

After I throughly washed my hands, I played a couple slots and nothing big. happened. Decided to move over to Main Street Station where I had a blast last time. Along the way, I stopped at Binion’s and won $10 on a machine. I’m loving these reel machines!

Stopped at the California players club desk to get a new card, left it in a slot machine at Fremont probably. And now I am at Main Street Station. I am going to play some slots. Want to rack up some tier points and also test the idea that slots are looser downtown.

I am having an amazing Friday night, and there’s no end in sight.

Played slots at MSS for hours. Kept winning moderate bonuses all the time that kept me going. Below is my biggest win:

I’ve just been playing any game that looks cool to me where I can play the maximum lines and be eligible for all bonuses for less than a dollar. I ended up dead even at MSS and my tier score reflected as shown below:

I was tracking the points as they went up and it seems like they are pegged at one point per dollar wagered. If that’s the case, pretty amazing I went through that amount considering my average bet was 40 cents.

Interestingly, I noticed a VERY heavy police presence all over Fremont Street and even in the casinos. You would have to try hard to look in a direction in MSS where you wouldn’t see a cop. I love it as I find it very reassuring, but I wonder why the law enforcement presence there is so much more than the Strip which would seem a much bigger target.

As I kept playing slots, I grew more and more content sitting in a nice foamy chair pressing one button and having the machine do it all for me. I had intended to play some craps but given my state of mind, as well as how I’ve done in craps vs. slots so far this trip, I stuck with slots. Eventually, I got tired.

I left MSS once again near 3 AM and am very glad to have gone back. Downtown is an awesome place and is a must-visit for me every trip. To be honest, this trip has made me realize the Strip is my Vegas home, but I’ll be downtown every trip I have that’s longer than 2 days.

I hadn’t eaten since the Casino Royale hot dog around 6:15 so I wanted to grub. Like yesterday, I wanted something quick, cheap and easy so I can get to bed and enjoy tomorrow. I asked the cab driver to take me to Harrah’s so I can head next door. Good night everyone!

    Hello everyone!

Woke up about and hour and a half ago, well rested and ready to seize the day. First stop, Linq sports book. Placed a quick parlay $20 to win $52:

    Auburn -4 against Georgia
Texas Tech -1 against Kansas State

We’ll see how that goes! I then made my way over to Harrah’s and signed up for their 12 PM tournament. I also plan to do the 7 PM bounty tournament again tonight for probably my last one of this trip. $70 tournament.

Started playing some slots at Harrah’s and lost maybe $15 or so before heading over to White Castle for a quick snack. I know I’ve failed in the food porn category so far. I have surprised myself my last couple times in Vegas by how little I’ve wanted to dine...I always think I will do a ton of great restaurants. Truth is I am just having so much fun that slowing down just doesn’t always seem appealing. But before tonight’s tournament, how does some Ruth’s Chris sound? For you and for me!

The only other item on the agenda today aside from tournaments and slots is finding my boss a birthday gift. He’s also my good friend so I want to make it nice, so didn’t want to wait till tomorrow and be rushed. So I’ll at least get a head start.

One more slot then tournament time. For you poker fans, I’ll try my best to remember some details about my hands and other specifics.

Got eliminated near the end of Level 4 which was my worst performance so far. Wasn’t doing great but not terrible either. Was enjoying myself but not as much as the others. Some fighting between players, not a great vibe. So I ended up all-in with pocket Kings and lost. No biggie. Save my real efforts for the bounty tournament later!

I played some slots at Harrah’s for some small wins. I LOVE their slot selection. Top notch. I will be back there soon. I’ll give a tier credit update later on.

I had a $5 voucher for Mirage from yesterday and no low roller is going to let that go to waste so I walked over. That $5 lasted me a half hour and I ended up with $10. The Dragon Spin machine gave me the best win, about $14 on a 50 cent spin. I’m still figuring out how all the numbers work, but based on the session points I was seeing, I estimate I probably put in about $400 coin-in at Mirage between yesterday and today. I’m not going to be getting comps off that, but at least MLife will know I’m here and coming to Vegas regularly. And I find Mirage to be a gorgeous casino that is a pleasure to spend time in.

As I had planned, I walked next door to do my gift shopping so here I find myself at the Forum Shops. Going to let the marijuana lead the way and pick something nice and interesting.

So I was walking around the Forum Shops not finding anything particularly appealing. At one point I see the store Field of Dreams, which is a sports memorabilia store. Their stuff is usually way too expensive but I walked in figuring what the heck.

The guy at the front kept saying “Mike Tyson meet and greet, ask about it at the counter!” I went and asked about it at the counter. Turns out he was having a meet and greet right there within the hour. There was a minimum purchase for something he would sign. I bought two gloves along with the cases and certificates of authenticity. All in it was $651. I consider that a great deal.

I walked out into the mall to get in line. I waited about an hour and chatted with a nice girl from Salt Lake City. She goes to Wendover a lot so we were talking about how that compares to my local casinos. After a while, the line began to move and sure enough, I soon found myself shaking hands with the baddest man on the planet. I hope you’ll excuse the cropped picture. I’d like to maintain a degree of anonymity/plausible deniability. Just know the pasty hand he’s gripping is mine, as are those gloves.

Playing slots at Caesars for a few minutes. Going to go across to Linq and drop off the receipts for this then head over to Harrah’s.

I have to say that after meeting Iron Mike, I feel that I have graduated from a Vegas novice to a Vegas apprentice.
