they would be really smart to assign whatever scabs they have doing twitter and facebook the add'l duty of trolling these boards. of course more likely than forwarding that info on to someone who could improve service, they would forward it on to some flunky in legal who graduated bottom of their class at Dbag State University to send out a totally baseless cease and desist threat like the one vegas tripping got from wynn for saying "wynncore"

Why bother trying to satisfy a customer when you can attempt to intimidate them?

    A cease and desist order?
Calling someone's family about a complaint?

I feel the same way about these things as I feel about suing for spilling hot coffee on yourself...

I would find that lady that called your dad and rip them a new a-hole. What is this? Soviet Russia? Hey comrade, you enjoyed your stay, RIGHT? If not we have wonderful resort for you to visit in Siberia.

Yeah, the more my husband and I talked about it today, the more it really bothered me, on many levels. I am sending the CEO another fax first thing Monday morning. They way I took the entire conversation is pretty much like everyone else here. I mean I am 30-something, not 9 yrs old. My Dad is certainly not going to tell me to "knock it off" like this person was suggesting, AND for her to even call him is well just unacceptable and shocking. Reached a whole new level of low. Mind you, we were never, rude, yelling, obnoxious, ect. Perhaps if we were, this all would have never got this far...

This thread/story just amazes me. How a company that ruled vegas just a few years ago to one whose customer service and credibility have just gone out the window on one of the most ambitious and anticipated building projects in history. I thought about spreading around some of my play in the near future to MGM Mirage, but stories like Bella's and Beejay's just make me see no point in doing so. Why would anyone pay for Vdara or Aria when they can pay about the same for V/P or Wynncore and get service that can't compare. It sucks that you're vacation was ruined like this, and I hope that you get some sort of refund from them, and have a more enjoyable and relaxing vacation in March!

    Hi All-

Ok, so I have been price researching for our trip March 25-28. We were pretty much decided on Palazzo, but.... we can do a 1100 sq ft suite @ 4 Seasons for about $200 more ( we stay @ 4 Seasons usually outside of Vegas), or a Fortuna Suite @ Palazzo , or a lg suite @ Venetian or a lg suite @ Bellagio. Now while I am not too excited about re-booking @ MGM, just throwing these 3 out there. We have done PH in the past and The Signature. Just want to try and re-do the trip we were supposed to have AND it is Bella's 8th bd on the 27th. Now we do tend to spend time in the room. It will be too cold for the pool ( well atleast for our west coast blood!) so that really is not too impt. Mandarin has a "normal" room for about $900. We like the space of a suite, and their rooms are only 550 sq ft? I heard their service is outstanding. Soooo, any thoughts on what I should book. Everyone still think Palazzo is the best? Thanks! :)

I haven't stayed at any of the hotels you've been pricing but I'm sure whichever one you choose, your trip wil be a bazillion times better than last weekends!

    Skip MGM...

I am thinking that I would skip MGM for at least one trip if there aren't any comps involved. Once you have resolution (good or bad) of the issues with Vdara, then I'd think about booking MGM (but probably not Vdara :() again.

Beyond that, I got nothing... I have only stayed at P Ho, Sahara (in 1985!), and some unknown motel (yes, my ex didn't want us to spring for a casino/hotel room in 1985...we stayed in one of those motel places on the strip "near" a casino...). I am going to try some new places, but we don't stay in our rooms as much as you guys, so my input then probably will still not be worth much!!

The only other thought for this trip...maybe "TRIED AND TRUE" is the way to go after the disaster this month. Then again... I am flip-flopping and I am not even in politics!! :)

    Have fun whatever you do!!

Haha thats why we go to Vegas, for the pools. We used to go like 3x a year now we cut out the November Trip and go for spring break and summer. We live in CA but we go to float on the lazy river @ MGM and the baby slides i hear they have @ Flamingo

well now that you are bringing larger suites into play, I've got to include my thoughts on Bellagio. It is an entirely different hotel if you are doing a suite that includes the Executive Lounge service, which the Penthouse suite includes, not sure about lower suites.

At the upper end of the rates the Bellagio penthouse goes for I wouldn't count it as worth the difference from Palazzo base room, but when its starts dipping down into that $359-$479 range it becomes workable, especially with comps considered.

The room is fully remodeled, tastefully decorated, includes seperate his/her bathrooms in addition to a powder room. There is also an extra mini-fridge with ice maker.

    http://www.bellagio.com/hotel/penthouse-suite.aspx

The kicker is you get executive lounge check in with free airport xfers and other amenities:

    http://www.bellagio.com/hotel/executive-suite-lounge.aspx

Once you make your reservation, they send you an email a couple days later, or you can just call normal reservations and give them your flight info to set up the limo. You get access to special elevators, a lounge with snacks and booze, and the bellhop stays with you during the lounge check-in so there is no 45 min wait for your luggage.

The service level and luxury of this setup compares favorably with wynncore tower suites and is maybe just a tick below due to the size and age of Bellagio. The room itself though is outstanding, and they do a great job of making you feel "special". Then again that could have just been me because I'm a "specially challenged" person of the type only recently mainstreamed into society---aka a rah-tard pre-political correctness.

Here is some vid of that room:

    <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NuH6_iza4rI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NuH6_iza4rI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

For me when the price gets below $500 I like this room and depending on if I'm intending to play enough to get some of that comped, I'll probably lean towards this over that Palazzo base room.

Bellagio suite looks great, but seems like it would be pricier from what Beejay said, but I would give my recommendation to the Palazzo for sure. It's a great hotel with some of the best basic rooms in Vegas. If it were me I would book the regular room, then upon check-in maybe ask if they have any upgrades to larger rooms, either with $20 trick or just paying less for it than booking online. Any of the choices you've listed though are great and you won't be disappointed.

So how should I go about booking this? Orbitz has a 10% off coupon which would bring it down to $1400 and change, but then I would lose all comps. Should I call the Players Club? I have offers for just a basic room. Still kinda new to this comp stuff!

yeah call players club, tell them you have the base room offer but are interested in upgrading and ask what casino rate is on the 1 Bedroom Penthouse Suite....or "1br pent" as they like to abbreviate it.

I don't like to keep calling them so I'll just monitor rates online to see how supply-demand is. For your dates the penthouse is not listed so that could be problematic, maybe they have a tourney? Of course they hold many of them for casino marketing and if you have earned a base room fully comped that will usually qualify you for a casino rate penthouse.

also be aware that sometimes casino rate is less than rack, sometimes more, but seems like they've been more flexible with it of late. rack rate on these rooms is normally $750, but can go up, or down as low as $329, which is the lowest I've ever seen. If it gets under $500 I'll get on it because after comps it will be basically free based on what I normally play. I guess how much I'll earn per day in comps and subtract that from the quoted casino rate to get what I expect to end up paying. Bellagio has ALWAYS treated me fairly on back-end comps.

Its definitely not a cheap way to go, but if you are looking at those higher-end rooms at Palazzo you mentioned, you might as well at least price out the Bellagio Penthouse which I consider a nicer room due to the steam shower and orientation of the room lengthwise with the windows on the long side rather than on the end like the Fortuna at Palazzo.

Plus you get the limo transport, line pass, and executive lounge. Now the Bellagio exec lounge is not as nice as the Palazzo concierge, but it has some advantages, the drinks are available longer hours and if the attendant isn't in there you can just get 'em yourself and save a tip.

One thing I'm not sure about is how the access to VIP is "supposed" to work at Bellagio. Basically this is a new thing where they give you exec lounge with penthouses. They actually created a new small exec lounge behind the bell stand, it has a couple nice check in stations and some snacks--no booze. Then there is the top-secret VIP where the elevators are....its on the right over by the conservatory. I am not for sure if access to this is granted based on penthouse purchase or what, but it is the same looking key so I just assumed so and rolled in there and started drinking. I did get the stink-eye from the one black haired biznatch in there but i quick-tipped Jose the attendant $10 and kept rolling. I think that parts included but I would just recommend a don't ask-don't tell policy in case it is like the "rfb lounge" at Encore.

sorry to ramble, I had to change a diaper midstream.:vomit:

oh also, be sure to keep those VIP room keys when you leave so you can stop in next time when your staying elsewhere! I've got a nice collection now and with the diamond lounges I'm never far from a free drink even if I'm not playing. Of course Palazzo changes their keys weekly or whatever so that won't work there for concierge, although I probably have all of them by now anyway. But the Bellagio VIP key was the same last month as it was two years ago.

You the man! Booked while shopping @ Target, nice! I have to say, I was impressed with everything the res agent told me about all the "perks". I am faxing Mr. CEO a letter first thing tomorrow morning about the phonecall, still in shock over that one...BUT we are absolutely getting SO excited about the re-do Vegas trip! Poor kiddo still sick :( We are all in our Pj's as we have RAIN here in AZ which is an unusual sight! I am sipping my Veuve Cliquot and hubby some overpriced import I picked up @ Whole Paycheck aka Whole Foods. Daughter, Bella is so excited to stay @ Bellagio for birthday. We are excited to try and re-create the Valentine's Day that wasnt :(

Thank you SO much for this tip, I would have never even looked @ Bellagio! Now to work on the queen's birthday dinner in Vegas....no Circus Circus! She fell in love with Tiffany's in Bellagio ( girl after my own heart) and she loves her steak like her Daddy....

Enjoy the diaper changing, blink and before you know it, they are requesting Vegas trips for their birthday! :)

Ok all, this it TOTALLY off topic. I have a crap load of the Restaurant.com coupons for Stripburger ( outside Fashion Mall), Tacone Grill, and Ocean One. If anyone could use them in the next few weeks, please PM me and I will mail to you. We have come to accept the fact that it is really hard for us to eat out with all of our many food "issues". Stripburger looks really good and I have I think 3 Restaurant.com coupons. Let me know, I am not looking to trade or anything ,just pass on the good karma! :)
