Hope this isn't too off topic or the wrong forum.

But I am going to Vegas again soon and I started to get back into VP. Never played VP in Vegas as I have only played it at local casinos the past few years. I always figured that if you sit at the bar, you have to pay for drinks. Is that wrong?

    Thanks

Most bars provide free drinks. At least one on the Strip has stopped though.
Others will post more info I'm sure.

Edit to ask, where are you staying/playing?

99% of the casinos will give you free drinksat the bar if you bet the max. The Wynn will not.

Yes I believe that all places still do except for Wynncore, which never has.

However, most places on the Strip have gone to a voucher/ticket or light (red/green) system, where you need to play a certain amount of coin-in at a certain rate of speed to qualify for a free drink.

If you are max betting quarters and playing at even a moderate pace, you will have no problem earning comp drinks. These systems were put in place to thwart those who would put a $20 in when the bartender is looking, place an order, then cash out and walk away once they have their drink.

That's why I was always confused on whether or not you get free drinks at those VP bars as it seemed like an easy way for people to not really play and get free drinks. Thanks for the info :)

I will be staying at the Topicana only because it's free and I have over $1,300 in comps for Hollywood properties. But will mainly be playing at MGM since it's right next door and has a lot more options than Tropicana. Though I might try a new casino on the strip this time.

Bummer. I wanted to try the Wynn as I have never gambled there. Thanks for the info :)

If you play the machines besides the bar, you should be fine. The Wynn is worth a look if you haven't been there before.
