    My Trip Report

    August 9 - 11

I haven't done a weekend Vegas vacation in a long time. I don't ever think I've booked this close to the trip but I've had a rough 4 weeks.

My dad unexpectedly passed away exactly 4 weeks ago at the age of 64 and 98.91% of the time since it's been difficult... joking aside it's been difficult. He joined A & I on on 2 Vegas trips with my mom and recently told me (before my sister's 30th celebration in Vegas) he wanted to go on another trip to Vegas. We had a nonvegas family trip planned, and booked for Oct, that he facilitated (he loved that word) and now wont be attending.

On a spur of the moment, A suggested a weekend trip to Vegas. This was luckily in the Southwest 10 day window, I quickly agreed and had flights picked out to go to my favorite place. After booking flights, I realized it was reallllyyyy expensive on the strip. Luckily, A had 3 nights comped at Plaza.

I'm 100% ready for my 50 hours in Vegas.
I plan to do a live TR but we will see what happens.

We get in Friday afternoon and will leave Sunday afternoon.

Any downtown favorites you want to suggest? We like downtown and are planning on Pizza Rock, brunch and maybe going to the strip.

I join the others in expressing condolences.

You mentioned Pizza Rock, which certainly gets good reviews.

You mentioned staying in the Plaza. I like Pop Up Pizza there.

Thanks Robert! I know I've read good stuff about Pop Up Pizza but I dont know if I've ever had it. Might have to change that this trip!

I might change it up and do some stuff I haven't done before - maybe Bingo at the Plaza or the Neon Museum (just have to make sure I'm there early or late in the day).
I'm pretty sure I've also seen good reviews about the Mob Museum?

I have not made it to the Mob Museum yet. I think about it each trip, then check the price & decide to do it another time.

This is not for everyone, but I enjoy waking up early (when it’s 6 a.m. in Vegas, my biological CST clock says 8 a.m.). That way, I beat the crowds to the breakfast places. Afterward, I like to walk through the almost deserted casinos. The Golden Nugget is my favorite place to stroll. A walk through the MSS/Cal with a cup of coffee is a good way to wake up and stretch your legs.

Or just stroll down Fremont Street under the canopy while it is cool.

    Less than 24hours!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
This all is just a big reminder to me to spend time doing what I love, with the people I love.

In honor of my dad, here's a picture from my first trip with my parents to Vegas.
I had just taken them to a free breakfast at MGM, thanks to MyVegas. (That's not coffee in those cups!)

I pray that Gods mercy can smile down upon you.

I went to vegas about the same timeframe after my Dad passed. he was always a Vegas guy so it seemed fitting. I had fun but of course he was on my mind, i think it might have been one of the most rewarding visits that i had.

    Thanks. I really appreciate that.
I'm not telling anyone we're going because I'm assuming most people would judge. I now know it's hard to understand this experience until you go through it yourself.
