    My Trip Report

I just got back from hitting Vegas for a quickie trip after a HUGE poker win at the local joint here on friday.

I stayed at the Mandalay Bay friday and saturday night. Hit 6 poker rooms, and took a HUGE hit in High Limit BJ at the MB...

A trip report to come soon...

thanks baz.... I'll preview a bit:

My friend and I were playing 4-8 holdem at the local joint. Jesse and I made the decision to share our winnings (or losses) so if we went in with one another we could bet and and not feel guilty about it...

We had been playing for 30 minutes, and I flip up my cards and see pocket K's. I was on the button, so this was even better...

So, 3 players fold. It gets to Jesse and he raises. I look at him and he grins. I grin back and re-raise he arse. That pretty much gets everyone out except 4 of us. Here comes the flop... A, A, A!!! Okay, at this casino the jackpot is aces full beaten by four of a kind. I have the aces full. "Three on board!!!" yells the dealer and the bosses come to the table. I announce "if you don't have a pocket pair, get out..." At that point Jesse looks at me and he turns ghostly white. If Jesse has an A/something, we have the jackpot. The other two guys fold and it is down to us. I checked, he checked. A jack hits, so now for the jackpot Jesse needs to have an A/J,Q, or K for us to hit(you can tie the board). I said "Jesse, are we okay?" He smiles so I check and of course he checks me back. The river comes a K and the table groans. I see this look on Jesse's face like a whole bridge has fallen on his shoulders. Knowing that it was almost impossible for him to have the 4th K, I checked and said, "what a rush, sorry buddy..." Jesse sits there and then turns over his cards....

BIG SLICK BABY!!!! A,K of Hearts... The jackpot is ours!!! The whole table cheers! The dealer throws his hands in the air.

    The breakdown went like this:

I got half of 17,233($8616.50), Jesse got a 4th ($4308.25), and the rest of the table shared 4308.25. After sitting there waiting for the paperwork, we were handed our chips. I tipped the guy $1000, Jesse tipped him $500 and he got some odds an ends from the rest.

So, there you have it. After that Jesse looks at me... "Let's just go... Let's just buy plane tickets and go...." So about 4 hours later, we were at the Mandalay Bay...

I'll leave it at that for now... The rest will come tomorrow after I get some rest!

Is it me or are other people surprised that you tipped the guy $1000 and your buddy tipped him another $500.

It's not that I'm a cheap A$$ or anything (or maybe I am) I mean I regularly tip waiters 20%, but I don't think I would give somebody that brought me money that I won 10%+ of my winnings. Is this standard?

I bet he tipped the dealer...

That tip will get him total respect for every visit to come. Besides, it is like your blind bet, it ain't a loss, its an investment that may or may not pay off.

I tipped the DEALER, not the chip runner...

Big difference... He deserved it, great guy...

Who pays the taxes on a deal like that. I hit $4,000. and the IRS wanted $989.00 in taxes. Lucky me my losses for the year off set my win.
