@DaiLun my wife and I ate at Matorano's last week. I had the Seafood Pescatore (seafood in spicy tomato sauce) and the wife had Spaghetti with clam sauce. See below.

I like Italian food on occasion but the "East Coast Philly Vibe" there was odd to me. When my wife asked if she could have spaghetti instead of linguine noddles, the waiter said "that may be a ball breaker." I guess substitutions are discouraged but my wife who grew up in Asia had no idea what "breaking my balls" meant and how to respond. If I did not have a roommate in college from Rochester NY who used that phrase all the time, I might have escalated it by interpreting it as an insult to the wife.

The entree portions were huge and packed with seafood and I am sorry we ordered a calamari app as it was a lot of food. My wife just liked the atmosphere at Carbone in Aria a lot better. And the service at Carbone was much more attentive. But we were using CET comps on that trip so Matorano's was fine.

Steve don't (doesn't) allow substitutions unless he knows you, and then he might only do it grudgingly. Probably easier to get away with in LV, where he isn't lording over the kitchen like he does in FLL. He's a Philly guy, and they have their own personality. So do the NYC guys. Even us guys in pig farmer flyover country Ioway get funny.

It's all good. And I ain't no gangster. And I doesn't (don't) like substitutions either. Especially when I properly sweeten the tomatoes. Which isn't ever done with sugar. Unlike most places in LV.

    [IMG] [IMG]

I put in some helpful (....) so everyone could decode how us guys speak. [IMG] [IMG]

OK, so the morning report. I skipped The Cromwell and went straight to the Flamingo. I saw a new machine, Konami's Dragon's Law Boost. It's Dragon's Law with a whole bunch more paylines. I was $300 in, playing $7.50 a spin, when I hit the bonus. Now, in the bonus game the dragon can appear more often. It appeared 4 times out of 8 spins and two of the dragon spins were enough to get me:
    upload_2019-9-10_11-0-43.png
Wow!! SOme breathing room, but I still "need" to make 1200TC today. I frittered away much of the $900 up that the jackpot brought, until I made my way to the back of the Flamingo I hit this on Aftershock in the shockwave spins:
    upload_2019-9-10_11-2-29.png
I finally made it to the back of the Flamingo and sat down to Game of Thrones (old version). I got the bonus on the first spin!! I took the low version of the Dracarys bonus and only won $100.
I sat down to Game of Thrones (Fire and Blood) and got many dragon bonuses, which didn't pay much but kept me "alive". Then on the last of the Drogon bonus, with it standing at $295.12 (it starts at $100), I got it!
    upload_2019-9-10_11-5-9.png
Ended up cashing out for a profit of about $650, which made back most of what I'd frittered away.
Back up $1000 (for the day. Still down a bunch for the trip), I decided to wander over to the Linq and take pictures of new slots machines that I had played yesterday.
Fortune Cup is becoming more popular. I should sit down and have a go at it. Maybe tonight at Caesars.

    Sex in the City Ultra
    upload_2019-9-10_11-8-50.png
Buffalo Gold Revolution. The twist in this game is that the other animals can turn into Buffalos at random. I had several 5 in lime Buffalos with this feature.
    upload_2019-9-10_11-10-7.png
007 Casino Royale, a most entertaining game
    upload_2019-9-10_11-10-47.png
Two bonuses, a chip bonus and a second bonus where you choose cards.
my BFF and I have "sworn off" this next machine, titled "Joe Blow Gold". What a sad machine. You can fill the screen with Joe Blow characters and it pays like 20x on max bet. A real time waster.
    upload_2019-9-10_11-11-59.png
Wonder 4 boost, where in the bonus game, you can randomly boost the number of paytables
    upload_2019-9-10_11-13-38.png
Met one of my buddies at the Linq and we sat while I ate a bagel. We talked about many things while my other friend was on the craps table.
Before going upstairs, I hit this to make another $130 back
    upload_2019-9-10_11-18-8.png

We walked back to the Flamingo exit to Cromwell and agreed that we'd meet at 11:45 to head out to Silverton. We are meeting another (local) friend for lunch.

I walked the Promenade and bought a new hat from Goorin Bros., and some small gifts for a friend and my ex-wife. Even thought I'm not "up" for the trip, I didn't want to disrespect the gambling gods too much.

I'm feeling much better now, I'm still down, but I have a little "breathing room". See you after lunch . . . After lunch, I'm going downtown to the Beef Jerky store to pick up a few things.

As it is, I'm 350 short of the 4,000 I need for the second bonus tier, just enough for 30 min to an hour at Caesars before dinner.

So, lunch at the Silverton was a good thing. Met up with my local friend and changed some HKD with him for his trip on Friday.

Hit a bonus on the Flintstones machine
    upload_2019-9-10_15-36-1.png
    +$200 (I start with $100 in)
Hit another bonus on Lord of the Rings, so I was up $400 at Silverton, paid for lunch and a run to the Beef Jerky Store, where we went afterwards. I dropped my buddies off at Ballys and then went to fill the truck up with gas.

Dinner is at 7PM tonight at Mr. Chow's. I'm going over at 6:15PM to finish off my 338 TCs to complete my 4000TC trip.

OK, it's almost 9:30. My alarm goes off at 3:30, because I plan to take the 5:40AM flight home so I can go to work tomorrow.

Mission accomplished. 80,000 GGWU points for 4000 TC, but it was a struggle.

Here's the view of Las Vegas Blvd. S from the overpass between The Cromwell and Caesars Palace.

Here the view of the Hell's Kitchen rear (facing LV Blvd.

So, it cost me $500 to make that last 350TC. I was pretty unhappy about that. At 6:30 I sat down at the Sharknado machine and played $0.80 bet. What? DaiLun playing less than maximum? Yeah, and guess what. I got the bonus . . . .made back about $50.00. So, I decided to increase my bet one unit to $1.60 . . . what happened, I got the bonus again, and got this . . . .
    upload_2019-9-10_21-29-58.png
Look at the bet level!. My new strategy for Sharknado going forward will be to play at "less then minimum". So, the last 350TC ended up costing me $350, not bad, and I was satisfied.

    Dinner at Mr. Chow's
    Appetizer, we ordered:
    Squid Ink Noodles
    upload_2019-9-10_21-31-48.png
    Walnut Prawns
    upload_2019-9-10_21-32-15.png
    Lobster SiuMai
    upload_2019-9-10_21-32-52.png
OK, let me note that we ordered the Peking Duck Semi Prix Fixe menu, which meant order anything off of the menu, and being the "thrifty Asian" that we are, we ordered the most expensive house specialties.
We ordered Mr. Chow's Ma Mignon
    upload_2019-9-10_21-34-28.png
Dungeness Crab (separated from the shell and mixed with Egg Whites)
    upload_2019-9-10_21-35-15.png
Mixed Vegetables and Rice (not shown)
    upload_2019-9-10_21-36-14.png
And, of course, the Peking Duck (carved tableside)
    upload_2019-9-10_21-36-44.png
    after carving
    upload_2019-9-10_21-37-7.png
    For dessert, there were:
Oranges marinated in Grand Marnier, and Lychee
    upload_2019-9-10_21-38-2.png
and the second and third row
    upload_2019-9-10_21-38-32.png
    We ordered Grand Marnier Oranges
    upload_2019-9-10_21-39-7.png
    Lychee
    upload_2019-9-10_21-39-31.png
And Creme Brulee. One of my friends didn't want to order dessert but I had to insist (because it's included in the Prix Fixe menu)

Dinner came to $310 without tax and I paid with three $100 7* vouchers and $10 cash. My buddies paid the tip.

So, that's the end of the trip. Mission accomplished and I spent well short of what the budget was for a 4000TC trip.

Thanks for staying with me. TTYL.

I always enjoy your dining reports. I would love to try the Peking Duck menu...maybe one day when I can convince my husband to come to Vegas with me.

    Glad you made your goal!

Excellent report! Thanks for taking the time to share. Mr Chow looks amazing! Going to have to put that one on the list for my next trip.
