Truthfully hubby and I do not partake. He hasn't in about 7 years.... me since my early 20's. We've tossed the idea around about trying an edible this next coming trip. I kinda want to see how he is on it. He has combat Ptsd and qualified for medical marijuana here in Arkansas. If it helps him... maybe it's something to look into when we come home. We shall see and I will report back if we do lol

The only issue with edibles is the dosages. Be sure you talk to the people you purchase from and be sure you know how much is too much. If they tell you one gummy bear is a dose, believe them.

Seems to me that gummies are the way to go if you want to discreetly partake while, say, playing the machines. I mean it's not illegal to possess and if some overzealous casino security guy sees you popping one, well, it might just as well have been some snack from the casino gift shop.

I do not think I am biologically capable of eating just one gummy bear though. :haha:

    This is so true.

10mg is the most per edible unit in Washington, I didn't see the max for NV but would assume it will be the same.

If I was a rookie I would look to start with a 5mg, which is generally one gummy.

Yes, it takes a while to kick in, on a full stomach up to ninety minutes so be patient. Do not keep eating stuff until you feel the effects , you will need a drool bucket.

Also, consider the duration factor, once you are altered you will be there maybe three to four hours or more. The effects on a graph would look like a long gentle bell curve.

As far as a "hangover" is concerned from the THC, it tends to be more of a foggy, not at all a painful. A cup of coffee is about all it takes to be back. Oh yea, edibles cause just the same amount of munchies as puffing, so grab that box of Oreos or Nilla Vanilla Wafers......you don't want to start in on the leftover gummies :goofy:

Yea... I get that. The cookies from Colorado have enough scent that you are well aware of what you are eating. I find the effects are way more than hours....

I had a really interesting experience in Denver last year with edibles. Super casual smoker married to a more regular smoker.

I was super paranoid in a Walgreens and then proceeded to pass out on the couch in our hotel room for 14 hours. Not sure I could have moved if I had to; didn't even take off my shoes. I did get up at some point and polish off a huge bag of peanut m&ms (which I hate) but I have no memory of this.

My husband, for his part, tells everyone the story of his doofy wife that thought since a 10 mg lollipop over an hour did nothing that a 50 mg candy bar in 10 minutes would have a mellowing effect. It hit me two hours later when we were at dinner.

Our downtown hotel smoking floor reeked of weed in February and my better half had no trouble procuring a sample for himself.

I'm going to Uber to a dispensary in August and then play some bubble craps while enjoying some canna punch!

Denver has similar rules. I think they even have places to discard it.

I know for a fact that folks have left through that airport with stuff... and well over an ounce.

Far be it from me to try flying back with it (LOL) but this is another case I would think gummies would be far better than the leafy stuff. Far less obvious.

Haha, oh man. I've been a medical patient for years and half a 100mg squib puts me down for a while (love them when I'm sick and sinus pressure won't go away). Made the mistake of drinking too much cannapunch once in Reno and ended up spending the rest of the night in my room struggling with the question of if food was worth having to interact with another human. Took the longest, most paranoid walk of my life through a basement of empty and dark shops to get pizza.

Definitely recommend new folk start with a 5 or 10mg dose (I prefer single bit edibles so that I don't space out the intake) and preferably a sativa based oil if possible assuming you don't want to be couchlocked. My mom got destroyed on cannapunch when weed first became legal here, it was hilarious.

Hope the prices come down in NV soon. Checking leafly, disposable vape cartridges are like 1.5-2x what they cost here in Oregon. I'm pretty much a vape/dab and an occasional edible person at the moment.

Apparently there is going to be a lot of tourists buying weed without a place to legally smoke it. I remember Denver definitely said no weed in bars but maybe allowed a separate room where smokers could partake outside of their own home. I even saw a story from Vegas where residents were fearful that someone would buy a house in their neighborhood for the sole purpose of allowing people to smoke inside.

Does anyone have any info on prices yet? A friend of mine gave me a dozen 10mg mints from Colorado but I have no idea what they cost. P.S. They made two round trips in my carry on luggage without incident.

Check Leafly.com. Most dispensaries put their menu with prices up there.

This is all very interesting. Im so far out of the loop I didnt know they made suckers and gummies with pot. I dont smoke (tried it a few times, last time over 10 years ago) but I might consider eating a gummy to try it out.

I totally agree... The tourist destination factor is the big difference here, and as you stated, the whole "Go crazy in Vegas" mentality.
As far as CO goes... The edible market is where things got a little shaky for us at first.. People that had never tried marijuana of any kind would want to get edibles and as you said the potency can be off the charts. After a few months they had to put in regulations of the content of edibles.
I'm really concerned about how this is gonna go in Vegas... Not well in my opinion.

I went to Las Vegas several times to see the Grateful Dead in the early 1990s, as well as other visits. People were smoking marijuana pretty cavalierly back then, including in hotel rooms and at the concert itself in the outdoor Silver Bowl, I believe despite the fact that possession of any quantity was a felony in Nevada at that time. On the other hand, back then a lot more people smoked cigarettes and cigars than you see nowadays, and a lot more hotel rooms and pretty much all restaurants allowed smoking.

Back then the notion of a "menu" requiring budtenders to walk you through it, let alone edible products, was something one couldn't even fathom. The only choice was, do you have marijuana or not?

I recall riding down the elevator at the Sahara with my hippie friends, and sharing the ride with a blue-haired couple who fit the stereotype of a couple living in Leisure World, each of us passing extraordinary judgement on the other.

I imagine that paying $15 (or whatever) for a single piece of candy would help to put it in perspective. You could always stop at a hotel gift shop or Walmart or CVS for a bag of actual (non-psychoactive) Gummi bears.

Now that it's happening, has anyone had any experiences yet that they can recount? I'd be interested in reading, er, trip reports that involve some of the grand re-openings of the dispensaries now providing recreational. I recognize that it might feel like you are typing for a very long time.

Did it state the potency of the cartridge? From what I've seen, once again there are huge differences people need to be aware of. Very often, it won't even be posted and if you ask they will say they "don't know", but in that case you can pretty safely assume the answer is weak! The ones I buy are desribed as: "Vape Pen Refill ($85ea) by Trichome Gardens A lovely, sweet, golden oil. Made by using a fractional distillation method. A minimum of 1.2g of oil per cartridge of a beautiful Indica. This oil contains 800mg THC/1mL of oil. Effects will vary for each user based on the strain chosen."

So, it's expensive but extremely potent, one or two toots on this thing and it packs a major punch.
