I been offered a trip on the Junket Airplane to this City would u guys recommend this town? 2nd question are the Airplanes they use comfortable for any one that flew with caesars is the seating 2x2 or 3x3?
I like Laughlin trips, have been there 5-6 times. Give it a try if you have a good deal. If you don't like it, you can cross it off your list. The seating on my Caesars trips is 3x3.
Go and find out. We used to frequent Laughlin with great regularity. But there's nothing there for us now. But, again, you won't know until you go. Have fun.
I've always poo-poo'ed Laughlin as a Vegas Wannabe, but quite honestly, I'm giving it second thoughts.
Laughlin is not a Vegas wannabe. It is a distinct gambling destination that is, well, Laughlin. The surrounding scenery is gorgeous, the river is right there. It's an assemblage of older mid-low market casinos that offer gambling and food and drinks and rooms. You will never see U2 there but it is nearly on par with the entertainment offerings at tribal casinos around here. It has a "value" demographic of older folks and river rats.
If your an action person that wants a lot of noise in the casino and looking for action on the table games it mighty not be for you, If your a slot player, not much interested in golf or sight seeing it could be just right for you> I don't know if any buffets still operate in Laughlin but they were definitely geard toward an older crowd, Last time i was there not much life in any of the half dozen casinos and all of them in different states of rundown.
We just got back from our umteenth junket to Laughlin (Harrahs). We love it but we fit the demographic; we're old. As long as you're not expecting the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas you'd probably like it too. We love the river and always rent a car because there are some neat things to see and do in the area. We love Davis dam, the Heritage Trail, Grapevine Canyon, Keepers of the Wild, Oatman, Bearizona, Sitgreaves Pass, RT 66 and a whole bunch of other outdoor activities. You can take a boat ride to Davis Dam on the new Celebration (cheap) or a jetboat trip to Lake Havasu (not cheap but fun). The rooms at Harrah's are not the greatest but we like the South Tower, river view. The North Tower rooms have also been recently renovated although we've never stayed in one. The junkets are run by Sun Country airlines, the worst airline in the world IMO. The planes are fine but we've had many trips delayed, even by a whole day, and some even canceled while we were already at the airport. We've also had some good flights. It's your first gamble of the trip. It can get cool in December so river activities are probably out but it's a great time for visiting the other attractions that I mentioned.
If you like The Strip, celebrity chefs, loud music, crowds, over priced food, semi-drunk or drunk yuppies, you won’t like Laughlin. Definitely older population, slow pace, aging casinos, decent food deals. We go once or twice a year on a Riverside or Harrah’s junket—leaving for there in two weeks.
Honestly, I get offers for Don Laughlin's Riverside all the time with, like, "come out for our techno pool party" and/or "Whitesnake cover band!!!"... I'm intrigued/will definitely be back in Laughlin some day.
Yes... and no. I do like some of the things from your first list (specifically The Strip, good (overpriced, admittedly) food, etc. I also like seeing folks in their element and enjoy Reno/Laughlin too. Btw, where(ish) do you live that you get junkets from Riverside? When I research them, I see (upper) Midwest only. Whereas, I can access CET junkets from where I am in northern California.
Bummer that there’s not much life there and it being run down. I’ll have to visit one day to experience it myself. Is it easy to walk from casino to casino?
We live in the Midwest and typically fly Riverside junkets (they don’t fly during the summer months) out of Moline, Illinois, or Madison, Wisconsin. We prefer Riverside, but also will do Harrahs junkets; we prefer to stay at the Tropicana rather than the Harrahs hotel on those. Harrahs offers many more area departure cities and seems to fly year around.
I"m making a trip there in November to clean out my True Rewards account at the Aquarius. Unlike most slot clubs where you have some degree of being able to access your comps at sister properties, Golden Gaming has my "home" casino as the Aquarius, so I have to go there to drain my cash back account and use whatever free play and food comps that are remaining on my account, Needless to say it will be one of the quickest visits I've ever had there. The Aquarius remodeled their casino floor area a couple of years ago, but other than minor alterations to the rooms, the hotel has not been substantially redone in at least 20 years. For all I know, they could still have original furnishings in place from when it was the Laughlin Hilton. As I've said before, Laughlin's target clientele has mostly died or been siphoned off by casinos in southern California and Arizona.
Not sure… I played there once, lost about $400 at video poker and get offers for 3 free nights anytime/$20-$40 slot play and free dinners in the Prime Rib room… I want to go back some time but it would be “home base” for exploring Oatman/the Grand Canyon/some southwestern stuff and not a stand-alone destination.
