Question for all the regulars out there. My next trip I don't land till 11:45pm on Wednesday night, so I probably won't get to the hotel untill 12:30am. If I am scheduled to Check in on Wednesday is there anything special I need to do? I'd hate to show up after midnight and not have my room.

    Thanks!

I have never had an issue, but I would call the hotel and tell them you are a late arrival. Atleast that’s what I have always done. They’ll make a note in your reservation.

Last time that happened to me, I just called the day before and said this is my name, my plane is landing at this time, I'll be there late, etc.....The woman I talked to said they already have my room reserved and it won't be a problem.

Most hotels also have either an “estimated arrival time” field or a “notes/requests” field. I always put it in there if I know it’ll be a late arrival.

If your hotel has mobile check in, you could check in via your phone earlier that day and be good to go as soon as you arrive.

I usually just send a quick email to reservations in the morning if I am arriving after 8pm - never been an issue.

I regularly arrive after midnight and haven't had an issue. If you are concerned, it doesn't hurt to call or email with an ETA.

SEMA, we'll see if we make it to the actual show this time...

I would definitely call. If the hotel is at or near capacity it is possible they could assume you're a no-show and just cancel your stay.

As a greater extreme of a similar scenario, last year I had a flight to Philadelphia delayed by close to 24 hours and I called the hotel to advise them I'd be arriving tomorrow instead of today. The desk agent checked me in remotely with no problem, so as far as the hotel was concerned I was "there", when I was really still back at home in Toronto... thus preventing the type of scenario you're providing.

One way or another, you should be fine if you're getting in past midnight. But the two minutes it would take to call would be very well spent IMO.

We drive in after work on Friday nights so we don't get there usually until 2:00AM that Saturday and we have never had a problem in any of the casinos we stayed at. Having said that it is always better safe than sorry so I would say give them a jingle and let them know.
