    My Trip Report

    Let’s see. Where was I.

    Oh yeah. Thursday and Friday.

Cindy got up around 9 and headed back to Paris for her last appointment. She is absolutely in love with that place. I got up around 11 and headed over TI pick up our Mystere tickets. Cindy really wanted to see this show, but we didn’t order tickets ahead of time, so when we arrived on Monday, I secretly called over to see what they had. The only thing left was front row on the far right. I took them anyway....more about that later. After picking up the tickets, I wandered around looking for a plastic sword for my 7 year old. Tat’s all he wanted me to bring home for him. Easy enough(and cheap!), Too bad my older girls aren’t as easy. Cindy spent a ton on clothes for them! Oh well, they are worth it. Anyway after finding a great pirate sword I wandered through the casino and scoffed at the auto shuffle Black Jack tables and walked back over to the Flamingo for a little breakfast at Lindy’s and some three card poker. Hit s couple of flushes, but that was about it. That game can drain you in a hurry! Went next door to BC to see if the VP gods would smile on me again.....not today. Played a little Pai Gow, had a few drinks and broke even after about an hour. That’s a great game for a nice slow time. Big Elvis was in the middle of his show, so I checked out a little of that. How bizarre! This HUGE guy is up on stage dressed like Elvis with some young kid in a bad fright wig and a lady about 80 years old, shaking maracas. I really wish I had had my camera with me. Almost time to meet Cindy, Mike and Shannon down at the snack bar at the Flamingo, so I headed next door and plopped down at a Money to Burn nickel machine while I waited. Put in a couple bucks and came away with a bucket full ‘O nickels, a whopping $34.00 and some odd cents. On a side note, anyone else annoyed by the talking car between the Barbary and the Flamingo? I guess since I spent a lot of time back and forth between the two, I got to listen to it more than most. Nothing like being propositioned by an inanimate object! Met the other three and we wandered around for a bit, got ready for the evening and headed down to the Venetian so Cindy could check it out. That really is a beautiful place. Looked at the ceiling and watched the gondolas for a while. Then headed across the street to TI to eat a Kahunaville. Before going in, Cindy stopped at the little shop next to the Mystere shop and found a watch she really liked, so she picked up her souvie for the trip. As we were walking toward the restaurant, she made the comment that she was a little disappointed that we weren’t going to get to see Mystere. I agreed and told her there was always next time. Got seated almost right away at K-ville. Had coupons from Billhere for free drinks, so we each got a big goofy one. Watched the bartenders put on a GREAT show and had a pretty good dinner. Watch out for the sampler appetizer. Our server suggested it, so we got it without looking. Very good, but $20.00! At the end of dinner, Mike asked what we wanted to do(he and Shannon knew about the tickets, and decided not to join us since they had seen the show earlier in the year). I pulled out the tickets and Cindy about fell out of her chair(maybe it was the drink). the show started at 10:30 and it was around 10:00, so we headed over to the theater, making plans to meet Mike and Shannon afterwards. Our seats were right on the stage at the very end of the row. Ended up being a fantastic place to sit. Many times the characters walked right in front of us. At one time, one of the creatures came right up to Cindy and sat there making eyes at her. The show absolutely BLEW US AWAY!!. When the two guys do the acrobatic lifting, we were close enough to see every little move they made. We could even see them sweat. What concentration!!! I had seen “O” in March and thought it was fabulous, but I think I enjoyed this one more. I can’t exactly put my finger on it. It was just different. I’d pay to see it again tomorrow. Well worth every single penny. At the end of the show, many of the folks in the audience, including us, leapt to their feet. Many just politely applauded. *getting on soapbox*What the hell is wrong with some people?!?! Even if the show didn’t appeal to some, just the shear physical demands on the performer are worthy of a standing ovation. *off soapbox* .
It was about midnight, and Cindy had had it. She was practically falling asleep walking back to the Flamingo. The week had finally caught up with her. She decided to go to bed so Mike and Shannon and myself headed to the Palms again. The Cali crowd was starting to arrive and the place wasn’t as comfortable as earlier in the week. Shannon sat down to play some BJ and Mike and I walked across the street to check out Gold Coast. Pretty nice place, but not much going on. They have this little penny slot area and this guy with wild hair was sitting in front of one of the machines holding a teddy bear. I looked at Mike and he shrugged. Upon further inspection, we noticed that he was holding the bear so it could see the screen and every time he would spin, he would whisper in the bear’s ear. WHOA! About this time, the cocktail waitress came up to him with a drink “your Drambuie(sp), sir”. Not every day you see a guy playing penny slots, talking to a stuffed bear, drinking great liquor! Enough....it was turning into a weird sort of night. Went back over to get Shannon and caught a cab back to the strip. Had matchplays for the New Frontier, so we started there. Lost ‘em and sat playing for a few minutes. Two 21 year olds were at the table with us. They had just driven in from Denver and were in Vegas for the first time. What the hell were they doing in this dump!! We walked back toward the Flamingo and Shannon wanted to play a bit at the Venetian, so I walked on down to O’sheas. I was really wanting to get into a good game of BJ, but it wasn’t happening here, played a little more three card until Mike and Shannon caught up with me, then headed to the Barbary. It was about 5 in the morning and I had decided to stay up until we got on the plane that afternoon. Sat down at a $10 BJ two deck game and started to have a great run. There were 4 guys sitting there that were in town for the fight. Had a great time with them and worked my way up to betting between $25 and $50 a hand. A first for me. Was WAY up for a while, but when Cindy called me at about 8 a.m. I was only up a little. Stopped at the Seattle coffee shop to get Cindy a Cafe Mocha something or other and as the girl was making it, she spilled a whole container of Caramel all over the counter. She starts cussing and I started giggling. Then she started to giggle and before long we were both cracking up. I helped her clean it up and she gave me a couple of free coffees. Headed next door up to the room and Cindy was gone. I called her phone and she was next door looking for me. I told her what happened and she said that she was standing by the coffee counter watching the girl clean the caramel off her shoes! I cleaned up and we checked our bags. Our flight was scheduled for 3:30 that afternoon. Walked back to the Venetian to bum around awhile, then decided to cab down to Paris for our last meal at Mon Ami Gabbi. Got there around 11:00 and the place didn’t open until 11:30. While we were standing there, a girl came out and said they wouldn’t be opening until noon. That screwed us up, not enough time. we walked back to the Barbary for a little Barbary toast, checked out our bags and headed to the airport. I crashed as soon as we hit the plane.

A great trip. I will recap later.

    Bosco,

Not only is that car annoying as hell, it's the ugliest cadillac I'd ever seen. I wish there was a bum sitting in front of it, that woulda been funny.

Great trip. Sounds like you had a blast. I agree, that car is very annoying. And, not the nicest looking thing in the world either.
