Going to put this out there for easy future reference to everyone. Remember, if the cabbie charges you more than the listed flat fee (there is no mandatory tip), then the driver can be cited for being in violation of the flat fee fares by the taxi authority. (Personally, I'd probably refuse to pay when I arrived at my destination and call the taxi authority to let them settle things)

    From the taxi authority's FAQ

I would not refuse to pay. I would just give the guy the correct amount and tell him/her to piss off.

They had just rolled this in when I left before Xmas.

Keeps it simple, so no more gallivanting around from the drivers, you'd think.

Let’s hope that takes the guess work out.

In October my cab ride from the airport to Flamingo was $22 before tip.
So the new pricing isn't saving anything .
In fact, on the return trip to the airport, without the airport surcharge the price goes up up about $8

Why would you do that? That would be zero negative consequences for him. I doubt he would learn his lesson and just frees him up to do it to someone else.
