Getting pumped for Saturday. Thought I would post a TR from last labor day, although some who read LVTalk might have read it already. Here is my Labor Day weekend Trip Report 9/2 -9/5 TR is long. Skip to bottom for Final Notes. This trip was spur of the moment for me. One of my field supervisors, Derek, was having his bachelor party weekend in LV. I originally planned on going, but by time they picked what casino to stay at, my cheap casino rate at Golden Nugget was gone, and it kept getting higher. So I resigned myself to the fact I was not going even though my wife was OK with my going. Derek called in to report his progress Wednesday and by the end of the conversation he had me looking on Travelaxe. Saw the Fitz for $208 for Thurs-Sunday. Hmmm, I thought. I checked flights on SWA that had good times(had a Rapid Rewards free ticket), and I was in. Flew out @ 6:30pm CDT and was in Mecca by 8:00. AHHHHH. Cabbed over to the Fitz. Decent room and close to GN where the 11 other guys would be staying starting tomorrow. Had a sandwich at Carson Street Café @ GN and just relaxed for a while. Played some bartop VP at GN and broke even on my $20 while having 3 drinks. Went back to the Fitz and watched some Hurricane coverage as it was heading directly for my mom’s winter home in Jensen Beach. Went downstairs and sat down on a $5 DDBJ table with 3 Asian ladies who were friendly and fun to play cards with. The eldest of the bunch was playing with big cash. Her average bet was $300 or so. The others were more like me ranging their bets from $10-50 a hand. I was up $300 after a few hours and my new friends were doing well. One of the ladies asked to be comped a pack of smokes but the pit boss would only comp her friend, who was now playing at the table next to us, the smokes. The pit boss made a big deal out of it which seemed pretty stupid considering the size of the woman’s friend’s wagers. The ladies said “fine, we will leaveâ€, so they asked me to join them at the Freemont. We couldn’t get cards to flow there(-200), so we left and went to Four Queens. I did well enough there to end up +350 for the nite when I shut it down at 4:30 am due to imbibing too many Malibu & diet cokes. My new friends were still going strong and I bid them goodnight. I will say downtown is like a ghost town after 2 am on a weeknight. Got up with a serious hangover at 8am. Went downstairs and got some Krispy Cremes and some McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches. Ate this stuff and went back to bed until 11am. Showered and went to GN and played BJ until Derek and his pals showed up at 2:30. They checked in and everyone scattered to tables. 4 of us were playing DDBJ, some carribean stud, and beer was the drink of the day. Tables were choppy, so some went to play Pai gow poker and roulette. I tried Carribean and lost $100. The roulette players in our group were right behind us so I joined them. I play 10 numbers with $5 on each and hit 3 in a row. YESSS! I missed the next 2 and then put $10 on my numbers and popped one and quit. Some of the crew who were not big gamblers wanted to roam around and see the lite show, so I joined them. We got drinks and just hung out for a while. Derek was still playing PG poker and made friends with an older lady named Beverly. We all wandered around playing hit and run on machines and drinking. The plan was to go to a strip club around 1 am. I went up to my room and crashed at 11:30 pm. This evenings beer combined with last nites hangover put me down. Derek called me at 1:30 to go strip clubbing, but I was toast. I ended +550 for the trip so far. I woke up at 6 am and received a call from Derek that they were still up at 630 am. I was at the GN by 7:00. Derek was playing PG at the same table still, along with 2 others. Two guys were playing Carribean still also. One of the guys who was awake but not playing tells me Bruce Willis is playing BJ in the High Roller salon, so we go watch for a while. Derek and the 4 others come over and say, “lets play craps!†so we buy in at a $5 table with 6X8X10X odds. This was my first time playing craps live, although I had played using wincraps software and understand the game. The other 5 guys were clueless, but the great guys working this pit at GN were very helpful. We started out ON FIRE! Most guys were just making pass line bets and taking minimal odds, but myself and Mitch (one of my employees also), we were playing the 6 and 8, and really generated some cash this way during the next 2 hours. Every time we hit the 6 or 8 we would yell, “GENERATORâ€, as in cash generator. The other guys were screaming “PAI GOW†when they would win on the come out roll or hit a point. We were laughing so hard we were in tears. Mitch was crazy drunk, and kept telling anyone that would listen about the ‘stripers that really wanted him’ last nite. The guys had a blast for the first 2 hours screaming and hollering like the drunken idiots they were, and watched the table get very choppy for an hour before leaving. All told it took 3 hours to go around the table 3 times. I had bought in for $100 and at the peak had $700, but cashed out with $200. I found a new fun game. After this session, all those who stayed up all nite ate at the buffet and crashed till 5 pm. I placed 5 bets on college football and watched games for a while. I caught up with one of Derek’s friends, Scott, and we played bar top VP for awhile (-60) while we watched football. We went down to the Fitz to charge my phone and play some black jack. Not good as I lost 2 big double downs and was out 300 in ½ hour. We went and got lunch at Carson Street after this debacle, and ran into some of the others. Everyone was awake and scattered to their favorite games at GN by 5:30pm. At 6pm, Mitch and I decided to have a go on the same crap table as this morning, although minimums were now $10. We just got started when Bruce Willis joins the table with a few of his friends. The table was choppy at best as the dice went through BW and his entourage and were finally coming to me. I was ready to start yelling lines from BW movies before my throws, but he and his people left as I got the dice. DAMN! I was already imagining the stupid looks I was going to get when I yelled “yippie ki Ay, Motherf@cker!†and “Welcome to the party, pal!â€, but alas it was not to be. I made a point, set a point and then sevened out. Damn. I quit there. I was up $3 for our time and Mitch, who got the dice next, proceeded to go on a nice roll which I missed.Double damn. We left for 4 Queens to play more craps on a cheaper $5 table w/ 10X odds. I decided to play minimum bets with full odds and got my $200 sucked away in about ½ hour. We switched to DDBJ $10 table. Mitch doubled on his first hand but failed to tuck his cards properly and the dealer, Mindy, made a big deal out of it. I thought, “oh no, not a bitchy dealerâ€, but I was wrong. She turned out to be really nice, especially when I started calling her MORK. At one point I had a $200 double down on the table and proceeded to tell her how a woman should do what she is told, and I am telling you to bust, and she did. One lady at the table took offense at my comment, but Mindy played along with me in my increasingly drunken state. She was great and I tipped her a green chip when she left on break. The next dealer was nice too, she had a hard to pronounce Croatian name. I asked her if Toni Kukoc was her favorite player and she said “no, Chris Webber.†I warned her not to call timeout with no timeouts left, but don’t know if she got the Webber reference. I was yelling and screaming on every good hand and having a great time as the drinks were flowing really well. Mitch mentioned to me I was getting a little loud, but I didn’t care, I was having some serious fun. We asked for a comp for some dinner around 1am and got it. We left to play some at the Fitz before eating. MISTAKE!!!!!! The only open DDBJ tables were $25 and in the next hour I got killed for $800. OWWWWWW! So that’s why they give you all that alcohol? Hmmm, a profit deal! Mitch was doing well on the roulette wheel, so I told him to wait while I went upstairs and packed, and then went to the business center to get my A pass. That is when I started the “I AM DRUNK†thread on LVtalk forums. After my work was done I met up with Mitch and he is happy playing roulette still, so I go over to 4Q and eat 2 breakfasts. When I got back to the Fitz, Mitch was gone, so I wandered to bed at 4ish. I got a call at 7:30 from Derek, and they were back shooting craps at GN. I was showered and there by 8, and played until 9:30. We had a blast for that hour and a half. Screaming and yelling just like the previous morning. I turned my $100 buy in into $200 and left for the airport. Scored an exit row seat and was back in my house by 7:15 pm. Final Notes - Fitz was nice place to stay, but I sucked gambling there. - Four Queens was nice to me. I hope to have room offers for the winter trip. - GN was nice as ever. Don’t like the older music though. - Started with $3100 and ended up with $2225 after 3 nites of LV fun. A bargain in my book. - Bad college football bets killed me for $770 and one bad hour of BJ got me for $800. - Found a new diversion from BJ, CRAPS BABY!!!!! - SWA Rapid Rewards kicks @SS!
Excellent. I hope this next trip is as fulfilling. BJ, poker, some CS, & sports along with endless drinking and good times is a typical 4 nighter for my friends & I. Your Vegas & my Vegas are similar indeed.
I love the drunken downtown four-nighters with buddies. That's what I grew up on!!! Nothing but craps, blackjack, sports bets, and buffoonery. What could be better? Thanks for posting a fun trip report. It looks like DDBJ is the game to play nowadays. Mikey
Thanks for the kind comments fellas. I am pumped for Saturday!!!! If I can get out of Chicago on time(talking 5-7" of the white stuff, Damn) I am going to meet up with Don D at the Praza for some drinks. Want to give MSS some play for future offers. My traveling partner this trip plays golf, so were going to tee it up 2 days to take a break from the tables.
