Hotel room - Well, we got to vegas on monday afternoon and checked into the aladdin very quickly. There was barely any line at all. We got a nice standard room on the 18th floor that was very nice. Our bathroom was all marble and beautiful. Huge tub, shower big enough for two people, it was great for the price we paid (about 48 dollars a night).

Downtown- We met up with some friends of mine who were also in town and went downtown to gamble a little. The fremont street experience was neat, but it was cold outside and the theme wasn't christmas, it was motown which I thought was weird.

Free shows - Alot of the hotels did not offer their usual free shows (Treasure Island, Mirage) due to season and weather, and the shows at ceaser did not work porperly so we were a little disappointed. The bellagio fountains were very beautiful and some shows were set to christmas music. I wouldn't miss the belagio fountains for the world.

Food- The paris breakfast buffet is awesome and the spice market buffet for dinner is very nice, but it was partially shut down (no mexican section). On the other hand, it was cheaper at 20 dollars a person.
Gambling - We liked gambling at the monte carlo because it had low table limits, good odds and friendly dealers. Barbary Coast has strong drinks but bad blackjack rules. We won the most money at the craps tables at the aladdin on our last night there, but i usualyl do not gamble in my hotel because it is too tempting to run upstairs and get more money.

Overall we had a very nice time. The aladdin is nice and not too large, it feels a little more intimate than the other casinos and has a fabulous location. I hope everyone else has a great time, if you go this month definitely bring a jacket because it gets very cold and windy at night!

Well when we played, it was 5 dollar minimum, dealer stands on all 17's, surrender available, and dealer checks the hole card when both a ten and an ace were showing, insurance paid 2-1.

I'm not sure if the rules change as the casino gets busier, I noticed raising table minimums at other hotels and a switch to dealers hitting on soft seventeen as the casinos it became nighttime.

Barbary coast was terrible, dealer hit on soft 17 and did not check the hole care unless an ace was showing. Gave you plenty of opportunity to split and double, not knowing the entire time the dealer had blackjack. Truly awful. Ironically I won alot playing double deck blackjack there. Got lucky i guess.

DANG...A Motown Christmas and I gotta miss it!!
I'm pretty sure at the BCoast IF the dealer HAS
    blackjack,you get your split/double BACK.

Sounds like a good time. How did you get a room rate like that ($48/night) at the Aladdin?
    Thanks.

It just the rate for the week I was there...it was the standard rate on their website. We stayed monday through thursday during their slowest time so we got really good deals. If you are trying to go on a weekend or during a busy time you won't get that rate.
