  1. Hi All, greetings from Hungary

I came back from USA a week ago. I had an unbelievable lifetime experience. We visited New York and Las Vegas. After a one week holiday in New York we flew to Vegas with US Airways. The flight was OK. I prepared my laptop and a movie for the flight so we wasn't bored. The movie was Vegas Vacation with Chevy Chase. Great movie, sometimes we laughed quite loud on the punch lines :)

We booked a lakeview room in Bellagio. I wanted to do the $20 trick at check-in but I was coward :) The hotel was marvellous, same quality and same service as we were there last time. This was our third Vegas trip and second in the Bellagio. The services, the concierge, the dining possibilities are all very high quality.

I read some reports here earlier about Bellagio buffet. My opinion is that the Paris buffet is significantly higher quality than Bellagio's. The atmosphere was friendlier in Paris, Bellagio Buffet seemed to me like a canteen. Even the food selection was better in Paris. Furthermore, the price was cheaper in Paris. In the four days we had breakfast at Paris three times. There was no line at 9am, and a 15 minutes long line around 10 am.

We spent the next day visiting a couple of hotels on the strip, and gambling of course :) My biggest win was $160 with a $1 Megabucks slot machine :) We saw the Shark Reef in Mandalay Bay, an underwater IMAX movie in Luxor, Sirens of TI, the Volcano at Mirage, the MGM, New York New York, Hollywood Planet, The Caesars Palace, the Venetian, and I tried X-Scream on the top of Stratosphere :)

Next day we rented a Jeep from Dollar Car Rental at Bellagio to go to the Hoover Dam and to visit Grand Canyon Skywalk. Both were greeaaaat, the skywalk is very frightening when you step on the glass and you see the deepness under your feet. But it really does worth the 18 miles in the desert, through the Joshua trees. We arrived back to Bellagio at 8pm because we had a reservation to Prime steakhouse. I have to mention the special pepper soup. That soup is in the five best soups of my life! If you go to Prime, don't miss it! I had a NY strip and two glasses of red wine. It was an unforgettable night.

The whole Vegas trip took 4 days, these were the most interesting things and places I remember. We spent one day with shopping, you all know the girls :) The Fashion Show Mall is a great place to shop and if you want to buy quality but cheap designer clothes, go to Las Vegas Fashion Outlets. It's approximately 40 miles south from the strip.

The only bad experience was with a taxi driver. We were tired and asked for a taxi from Venetian to Bellagio. When the driver left he said "Thanks for wasting my time, fuckin' foreigners". He thought we didn't speak English. He was wrong so I didn't tip. I know that the lenght of this ride was not the most profitable in Vegas but that's why taxi companies established the institute of minimum cost a passenger has to pay. At night we went to downtown to see the Fremont street experience. I hoped we don't meet him again. Luckily, we didn't. Downtown was great, it would have been a mistake if we miss.

To summarize, Vegas for me is the best place on Earth, I'm hardly waiting for the next time I can visit.

    Kind regards

Sounds like you had a wonderful time Szegi!! Too bad about the rude taxi driver, but at least he didn't ruin your trip. I've met more than my share of not-nice cabbies too (not just Vegas either). One time though I had a very nice driver, and I just wanted to go from Flamingo to Tuscany. I knew it was a very short trip but I was too beat to walk it. The cabbie was very nice to me so I tipped him double to make up for the short ride.

Thanks for writing up your report! :)

Always a pleasure to hear about Vegas from a foreign perspective. I agree with you about Paris getting high marks for its buffet, but beg to differ on Bellagio's buffet being more like a canteen.

I agree Vegas is the best place of earth. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the taxi driver; unfortunately you can run into those type of people any where in the world. Aside from that it sounds like you had a real good trip.

gmoney590, You lucky guy, your journey begins on the day after tomorrow :)
Have at least as nice trip as I had!

chef, You are right, comparing Bellagio's buffet to a canteen is an overstatement, indeed, but the difference between Paris and Bellagio is still significant.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here. Another reason why I prefer a centrally located casino and a rental car for the entire trip...avoid the cabbies! I've had some nice drivers, but some bad experiences, as well. I think you have me talked into the Grand Canyon view on my next trip.

Thank you for the trip reports...they help whisk me away from work!
