I got to town early on Sunday, July 14. I went to the hotel around 10:30 am and as expected the room wasn’t ready. I went and ate at the Sundance Grill and was able to get a table right away. I ended up eating there a couple of times and really liked their food and service. That morning I had pancakes and they were some of the best I have had (Deuces Wild Breakfast which was pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns for $16). Following my meal, I got a seat in the sportsbook and watched a few baseball games before checking back in around 1pm and my room was ready! I had never stayed here before but I was intrigued that they had recently renovated all of their rooms. I reserved a Luxe Lodge Suite. What a great room! You enter to a nice size living room with wet bar and small dining table. The table is what I used for work; there is no separate desk. There is a large TV on the wall along with a couch and some chairs. All quite comfortable. The bedroom had a really good bed. There is also a large screen TV in the bedroom (as expected). One nice touch was the multiple device charging stations on the night stands next to the bed (two USB, one USB-C, and one 120V receptacle). The bathroom had a large shower with strong water pressure, free-standing tub (not jetted), dual sinks, and a toilet with a separate door. All told, a suite I would recommend to anyone and given the overall quality of the bedroom/bathroom, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their regular room as well. I had never gambled here before so I signed up for their player’s club. With a new sign-up, they give you a half price meal at the Sundance Grill. One caveat is that you have to use it the same day. They will also give you some free play based on your play that first day. I played a little in their casino on a Top Dollar machine and even won a few bucks! The tables were active. I didn’t throw any dice but I did check out the table and it was active anytime I went by. I should have checked the table min but I didn’t, sorry about that. The second night I ate again at the Sundance Grill and had their Chicken Parm dinner which I think was on special that night. I don’t recall the cost (around $30 for meal, soft drink, tip) but it wasn’t the best meal I have had. The sauce was plain and yet amply provided and the pasta was a little overcooked. The only other restaurant I tried at the resort is the Johnny Rockets (I know, I have a simple palate). I was disappointed in this not because of the food quality but because of the cost. The bill for a double cheeseburger, onion rings, and shake plus tip was around $30. I should have had another Deuces Wild Breakfast. I normally stay off strip (Palms and The M are my 2 favorites these days) but Silverton has earned a spot in the rotation.
Silverton used to be in my rotation. Just kind of fell out of it, I don't really know why. The room rehab looks fantastic! I am really impressed with that room you got. Next time try the Mexican place, it's really good Tex-Mex. I'm also a fan of the M and South Point...and Downtown, lol. That's why it fell off the list, too many places I enjoy and the casino doesn't really do it for me. *Edit: I now remember after reading a report that the Tex-Mex was decent but nothing that memorable.
I've always liked visiting the Silverton. The Bass Pro Shop fascinates me It is often my final stop of a trip if I have a rental car as there's a gas station across the other side of Blue Diamond Road to top the car off, and then a back road through to the rental car center. When I signed up a couple of trips ago I got a similar voucher but it had to be used on a different day, and within 7 days, as a way to get you to come back.
