Ever have those moments when you're playing and you ordered a drink a little while ago and it should arrive any minute, but you need to visit the restroom in an increasingly urgent manner, but if you do you'll probably miss your drink and annoy a waitress whose favor you'd like to cultivate? Aaargh.

Headed downtown early, if I had any more to drink I shouldn't be driving. Going to play around at the Cal for a while until the midnight meet. Cal valet rocks, BTW. Fast, friendly, and FREE! :)

I will say, however, that despite the sin that is 8/5 Jack's, the bartender at Holo Holo is the best I've had yet in Vegas. He's fast, he's friendly, he bends the rules a bit, he's funny and brutally honest at the same time. This man knows his craft.

Dang it, the video poker machines at the Cal clearly read VMB. As soon as I complained about the pay schedules on them, I started losing. Hi, 3681!

And as soon as I posted that, 3681 sent me a message.[IMG]

One last bet for the night. A black, on odd, Westgate physical table. Here it goes.

Whoo. Late night, a bit too much beer, a good recipe for a rough morning. I'm finally recovering, am now back down to Westgate to (finally) get something to eat and take care of a couple of issues at the office. Enjoying a footlong dog at the Superbook, it's good.[IMG]

Well, here I am, in one of those odd moments where I'm in LV and can't quite figure out what to do. Business is done for the day, and I have no plans, no ideas, no real clue whatsoever as to what I should do with my evening. One thing is for sure, I'm not going to let myself sit around in my room and surf the Internet. I might get on the monorail and just see where it takes me - I could use some dinner, but am not big on solo fine dining. Perhaps I'll pick a buffet from the strip offerings and see where that leads me.

Before I go, however, I did want to report a bit on last night downtown. I came down to the Cal early for my meetup with atom, dropped the Impala off with valet there, and wandered in to have a beer and get my wallet professionally remodeled to give it that avant-garde minimalist look. It wasn't too brutal, really, and I had a great time at the bar. The Cal has been changed up quite a bit - the snack bar fast foodish place that I intended to get a burger from appears to have gone away as they added a sportsbook area downstairs. The Main Street Bar appears also to be gone (sadly, I always loved that little full-pay oasis). Dave's is still around upstairs (and still perpetually closed). So I ended up playing some short-pay stuff and putting away a couple of Coronas. After a while, right on schedule, I got a text from atom inviting me to join him at MSS. I popped on over there, met him at Boar's Head Bar (still thankfully full-pay) and had quite a nice time not really playing all that much but having a great chat about VMB, Vegas, gambling, ya'know - the bread and butter of meetup conversations. After a while (and a few beers) we wandered down to the D to check out the Sigma Derby. got a couple of seats, lost some quarters, generally had a great time of it until the time came to part ways. I was really rather inebriated at this point, and certainly wasn't going to be driving back to Westgate. An Uber car only cost me about $10 for the trip, and I settled down rather too late and rather too drunk (I paid the price for that this morning), but had a fabulous time. Thanks, atom!

And now, for something completely different.

Wellll, that sure was different. I went out front to head for the monofail, stopped by the main drive for a cigarette, and was approached by an evidently somewhat inebriated lady who wanted to chat about the monofail and how the trains didn't have drivers. A conversation I was happy to have. She then indicated a degree of confusion about how the whole thing works. I offered to help her with the ticket machine. We walked together towards the station, and she took my arm. This was a bit weird, and with my bankroll in my jacket I'm always on my guard for the pickpocketing that I know happens from time to time. I pulled away a bit, she went to take my arm again saying she needed support. It was getting weirder by the moment. At the ticket machine, she mentioned wanting to get to Monte Carlo to see Cher, so I pointed out how to get to the MGM and over to MC. Then she decided that she wanted me to come along to the show. I would have considered this if the situation wasn't so dang weird, but I had already decided to help her enter the station and go back to Westgate's casino. I helped her buy a pair of tickets, after which she took my hand. I pulled away from this, but she got ahold of the cuff of my jacket and hung on. I pulled it from her grasp and walked away, knowing at that point that whatever the deal was, I needed to remove myself from the situation. Something was very much not right. As I walked away, she hollered 'Hey You!' at me a number of times. I kept right on moving.

As I headed back to the entrance, I heard the monorail gate beep, I assume from her not using her new ticket to open it before trying to go thru.

I have no idea what was going on, but I'm very happy to be back inside, spending a few minutes with this VP machine (9/6 JoB, $0.25) settling down a bit and trying to make sense of it all. I'm relatively certain she wasn't a hooker (was older than usual for that, and didn't have that sort of look at all). But the situation, and her grabbiness, was far too weird for me feel at all safe with. Hmm. Time for some VP, and regroup a bit.

Thanks to the way an exacta box at those odds works, that was a fun win, but cost me a buck, $9 payoff on a $10 bet. Now I need #6 to win, going off at 8/5... Late money just made mine the favorite by a hair. And... And... And... Yeaaah. Thats the ticket. Literally.[IMG]

Well, horses are done for tonight. #6 paid me $15.50, time to figure out what's next. Probably visit the room and charge the phone and plan a bit.

On my way back up to the room, I stopped by the concierge lounge for a water. It was deserted, so I took the opportunity to take a photo for the purpose of this post.

Every time I walk into that room, when it is empty, wearing a suit, there's one thing that comes to mind. I immediately think of myself in one of those red chairs... And Weapon of Choice starts to play back in my head, a feeling of being quite literally in Christopher Walken's shoes coming over me. Of course, I can't pull it off (no one can without a wire, but I'm quite incapable of any of it). :)
