Great TR. I admire your spirit doing the downtown to Strat walk. I think you and TD have set a new standard.

About three hours but I stopped a few times on the way to take photos, go into spinnetis, gamblers general. I also spent at least an hour cooling off and enjoying cold beer in dinos. If I was to just straight up walk it with minimal stops/excursions it would probably take about an hour

Thank you. One last question, daytime walk with me and bf. Would you say taking an unnecessary gamble or no worries? He's kind of a big guy.

Daytime it's fine. I ended up going a bit of a windy route as I had places I wanted to stop and places I had to see. There was only one point I felt a bit uneasy - I was walking through a really run down housing section with no one around other than the zombies. I just headed to the main road I could see traffic on and I felt fine. No one really bothered me other than a few crack heads asking to use my phone.

I checked the map before I left so I at least knew the direction I was heading. I recommend Dino's as a last stop before the strat. There are a couple of other bars that looked OK but I was on a mission. The happy hour in the strat is great and it's a good way to get to the observation deck. After the Strat I ended up walking up the strip which was a good way to finish the journey.

Great report and photos with something of an entertaining wry sense of humor, thank you. I wanted you to play the Plants versus Zombies slot machine, but maybe you did not. Better luck on the gambling next time, looking forward to the photos and report then.

Looks like you ended up behind the Strat in Naked City. I lived not far from there back in the early 90s for a few months. It was scary, but not quite this bad back then. I walked from Fremont St. to Excalibur and back (a little over 11 miles) the same day you made this hike, but I did it between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. You guys are brave walking in the heat of the day (and among the crackheads).

If you've been through the TL in SF...then Naked City is a cake walk
