Is Vdara too far away from the strip? Ballys instead?

My Girlfriend and I just booked a room at Vdara for $100 a night or so. It was the best deal we could find.

We are a bit worried its too far from the strip to do anything though. It looks like a long walk just to get to the strip and from there we'd have to walk a ton just to get around because of a obvious lack of trains on that side.

Anyone have experience with Vdara? Is the location as bad as I think it is?

I can book Ballys for the same price. Is that a better option?

You're going to walk a ton in Vegas, period. Even if you planned on using the monorail you still walk a lot to get to/from it. Vdara is set back, but you're very close to Aria and Cosmo, and Bellagio isn't a bad walk either. There's also a tram that connects Bellagio, Aria, and Monte Carlo.

Bally's isn't exactly "strip-front" either; you get in the wrong tower/wing and you're walking a bit to get to the strip, too. Been awhile since I stayed at Bally's but I don't think I'd take their room over Vdara for same dollars.

Ballys is 100x better location wise

no its not.

actualy its about the same

vdara is conected to bellagio thru a walk way and right across the valet to aria or down a flight of stairs too cosmo

if your in the back tower of ballys its much furthur and vdara is a lot nicer

and u can hop on the belligio tram if u want.
take vdara over ballys any day

Everyone has their preference but I'd choose Vdara over Ballys as its location isn't that bad. Vdara is connected via walkway to Bellagio plus make a left out of Vdara's front entrance (near Starbucks) and Aria is right there. Also, you can take the steps down and Cosmo is across the street.

Vdara by a long shot. Only bummer is you have to pay for parking at Vdara (actually its all valet) vs Bally's parking is free.

If the prices are the same, Vdara.

Bingo!

plus i feel like a pair of old gym sneakers at a black tie affair in those joints

Are you confusing Vdara with Mandarin Oriental or...? Vdara isn't exactly the pinnacle of luxury resorts and I can't see anyone being out of place there. Especially since there's not much "there" there - it's a lobby and a nice bar haha. I can understand people being hesitant about the location but unless you're only used to the Riviera (rip) and Linq it's not anything I would consider VIP-only.

Like everyone else said, 10 minutes tops to get to the strip, with Aria, Bellagio, Cosmo, and Monte Carlo within 5 minutes... hard to beat. Vdara also has one of the best "basic" hotel rooms, especially for the price.
