Trying to book a flight tomorrow. There are two of us but every middle seat on plane is showing not available. I just don’t want someone to sit between us.

No airline blocks off middle seats anymore. I don't think spirit ever did.

Why they won't let you choose a middle seat for a price is beyond me though.

You would have to buy the whole row to guarantee no one in a middle seat.

So I just got off phone with spirit. They said all the middles are unavailable for booking due to social distancing but people will end up sitting in some of them due to number of tickets that have been sold.

Yes, I have seen this on my recent Spirit flights over the last few months. The unsold middle seats had become unavailable shortly before check-in opens. So anyone who had purchased a middle seat gets to stay there but assignments at OLCI only gave aisles and windows out.

Interesting. Frontier is not doing that but they're charging an extra dollar for the middle seat to dissuade people.

Guessing they are "trying" to leave middle seats open, but come the day of the flight, all those people without assigned seats will start filling them up.

Hope for the best and expect the worse.

Not on Spirit, but we often book A and C or D and F, hoping no one is in the middle. If there is someone , they are usually happy to switch to either the aisle or the window seat.

Thanks, folks! I read this thread only because I'm bored and etc. It is one of the funniest threads I've read - better than joke of the day! I'm sure in most of the replies the humor was intentional, but some of them appear serious, which makes it all the funnier!!
