I totally agree. I didn't like the fact that I HAD to put all of them in the line up. I didn't like any of the ideas but you had to make choices.

Ours was for the name 3535. Didn't make the connection until I read it on the internet later.

I guess it just doesn't make any sense to me to come up with a whole new "brand" when they have so many others that they could use in their stable already.

    Showboat (Sister to AC Showboat)
Vegas Roadhouse (Sister to Tunica Roadhouse)
    Harveys (Sister to Harveys Tahoe)
Grand Vegas (Sister to Grand Biloxi)
    O'Sheas

Or my personal favorite... Slap the Ballys name on it and rebrand the current Ballys as the Horseshoe :)

BTW, I think both of The Quad and 3535 are bland and boring.

When I initally heard about 3535, I thought that they were doing what they do locally and name a bar or restaurant with the address. It just not adequate for a name for a hotel on the Vegas strip, no matter what the place ends up being. And the Quad would probably only appeal to frat boys. They say this thing is to appeal to middle income people in the 29-40 bracket and they think the Quad would register?

For the space formerly known as O'Shea's, I think the best name would be a derivative of O'Shea's, like O'Shea's Place or O'Shea's Plaza. For IP, I wish they were keeping the Asian influence and came up with a name that referrenced IP.

As for the existing brand names, half of the brands seem to be ones they want to get rid of. I don't see the point of Showboat as that was what Harrah's used to be. Roadhouse seems to be a last minute Hail Mary like Bill's. I don't know enough about Harvey's to know if it would be appropriate. I can say that Horseshoe just isn't right. The more I think about it, I think that all the Horseshoes were probably designed to complement Bally's. If they ever put money into Bally's and convert it to a Horseshoe, it would be the perfect flagship for the brand.

I got one of these surveys today asking what did I think about a hotel named "The Quad". I answered all the questions and basically told them I think of a university game room or student union area with that name. I also said I would probably never go to a casino named that and I suspect others wouldn't either. I likened it to a bunch of rowdy, drunk young people partying loud and proud.

Then they showed pictures of what it would look like and sure enough just as I thought, pics of beer pong, air hockey tables, etc. And not one of the people in any of those pics looked over 40. I wrote in the comment section that the target audience that will bring revenue and a more serious gaming budget through the door is the 40 and over crowd. Of course, the 40 and over crowd probably isn't their target crowd. Good!

I had fun taking that survey. :evillaugh

Personally my best friend &I both liked 3535. Both hated Quad. We thought it was at least catchy. And we are 50 & 58. Wish I would get this survey. I personally like Capri like it was years ago. And so far Quad &I 3535 are the only 2 they filed copyright for.

Has anyone heard about "The Quad"?

I got an e-mail from CET asking me to take a survey about a new strip hotel they had in the works. Being hard at work :rolleyes2: I went ahead and took it just to gain some intel. The said it would be called The Quad and the mock-up pictures showed it to look a LOT like Planet Hollywood on the inside. They didn't show any outside pictures. The survey was basically what I thought of the name (hate it) and what I thought of the inside (it was PHo cloned) and the like.

My question is, has anybody else heard about such a casino in the works? It was the first I had heard of that name. I have not seen anything under the Project Linq stuff that I have read.

    Thanks

The pictures are disappointing. I wouldn't even call it a PHo - I'd say it looks like a weird sterilized 80's video.

The trend I've seen over the last 5-10 years is modernity, futurism, elegance, minimalism, luxury.

This place looks like a mall food court. Not impressed.

I also got a survey from CET for a casino called
the 3535. It had the same drawing as for The Quad.

I don't like either name or drawings...I like the IP as it is.

You're thinking of the old Holiday Casino, with a riverboat motif.

Holiday, Paddlewheel, and Showboat were often confused with each other.

Showboat was a long-standing independent joint maybe a mile or two southeast of the main downtown area. They used to do a lot of televised bowling tournaments there. It was briefly rebranded Castaways then purchased by Station and then imploded.

Same for me. Wonder if the similarity to the song had even occurred to them.

I just checked my spam. I got kind of freaked out when I saw emails with a non-english font. Like almost english but with a squiggly line coming off it. Um, yeah, I'm not opening that one.

I didn't get the survey though. Dang.

I was thinking nobody could do anything worse than the Las Vegas Hilton being name LVH. Looks they are trying to win the crown away from them.

Things that I can not imagine taking place:

Hey, lets meet at thirty five thirty five for a drink.

Honey, how about staying at thirty five thirty five this trip.

Lets go play some cards at thirty five thirty five. Meet you at seven thirty.

3535 sucks just because it sucks having to say it. In reference to the Rush album 2112 at least sounds cool.

The Quad sounds like something from college and by the sound of it that's who they want to attract. Beer pong is disgusting and people aren't going to go to some loading station to sending stuff to their FB they are just going to do it on their phones. Scavenger hunts could be interesting if it's done right but isn't the idea to get people to gamble not run around town gathering tokens?

A few name suggestions I came up with,

    The Imperial.

    Aces.

    The Royale.

    The Double Down.

I see the rush to make Vegas generic and boring is in full swing. :/

Renovate and reboot is fine but the Asian theme is great and most importantly something different. If I wanted bland hip and modern I would go to Aria.
