Recently we had a termite company in for an annual inspection and the guy who came was very interesting. He was an American Jew who couldn't enlist in the US military due to past medical problems but went to Israel to serve in their forces. His Humvee was blown up and he was shot 3 times (nothing critical) but fully recovered although still carrying around some metal. Anyway, he noted a photo I have hanging in my man cave of an Israeli Defense Force jet signed by a General of the IDF. (have a number of items given me for helping them introduce the F-15/F-16 fighter jets to their inventory). We had a nice talk about Israel and he also advised me to get two sets of antique books I bought in England, that he saw, appraised for insurance purposes. He guessed each two volume set was worth at least $2000. Wondering if and who I should contact for an appraisal as I know nothing about old book values. Any suggestions or experience would be welcomed.
I would call your homeowners insurance company /agent. They would put you in touch with a reputable appraiser. Very cool experience for you to meet that guy.
Rick will give you $50 for the antique book set worth $2,000, but he'll remind you that he's taking all the risk.
the lady who advises Rick on his antique books has moved back East / D.C. area and set up her own company for rare book appraisals https://www.rebeccaromney.com/type-punch-matrix/
Im sure the humvee driving, almost mortally wounded termite inspector has a cousin-or your house just got cased because I doubt the FBI would go to all that trouble-or would they?
