    I'm stupid for using taxis or busses. You're smart for using uber or lyft. I'm stupid for staying downtown. You're smart for staying on the strip. I think we all have the same feelings about Vegas-we love it- so let's not try to make each other feel bad about the choices we make. Don't say nasty things about places-critique-is fine, but don't try to be nasty. Remember, for all of us, it is our happy place, no matter where we stay or play.

    I too am in the circle of stupidity (except for the cab part).

    However, I prefer the label "blissful ignorance".

    Funny how close to the same we all are when seated alongside one another in the casino.

    It's all OP/ED. And that's what makes VMB fun and keeps the conversation lively. Stoopid and Smart are sliding scale quantifiers. I should know. I camp out at both ends of that spectrum with alarming regularity.

    I am stupid for not charging everything to my room or giving them players card when paying. Just never think of the back end comps.

    I'm smart for going to vegas having a great time,staying close to budget and not worrying if others think I am stupid.

    I'm stupid for staying offstrip, renting a car, staying sober so I can operate a ca,r playing slots and not chasing tier levels in player's clubs/getting affinity credit cards for free parking and valet. And also stupid for believing affordable vacations can be had outside of Vegas.

    I am stupid for dealing with travelers cheques. You are stupid for using ATMs.
    I am stupid for tipping a host. You are stupid for not.
    I am stupid for playing slots. You are stupid for playing anything.
    I am stupid saying LOVE is the best show in town. You are stupid for saying it sucks.
    I am stupid for requiring twice a day housekeeping. You are stupid for keeping the the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door for the entire trip.
    I am stupid for using a debit card. You are stupid for using a credit card.
    I am stupid for ordering room service every morning. You are stupid for eating at McDonalds.
    I am stupid for not worrying about the stupid resort fees. You are stupid for fighting with the front desk over them.

    Anyone that has followed my posts knows I fit the person on the left for some of these, and favor the right hand side in others, and neither in some cases. Does not matter which one.

    I have been saying for years that one of the things I feel most strongly about here is that we treat each other with respect. You are free to disagree with each other, as long as you can do it without being disagreeable. This does not mean that everyone has to hug and agree on everything. One of the beautiful things about Las Vegas is that there is something for everyone. If you disagree with someone don't just shout "WRONG!", but express why you feel differently. Some people love Ellis Island, others find it dingy and not worth their time. Both of those are okay as long as you can respect each other for having a different opinion.

    The internet has become ripe with people screaming, "I'm right and you're wrong!" "No, *I'm* right and *you're* wrong!" ad infinitum. I find it exhausting. I like to think that we have a pretty great community here on VMB where there is room for a wide variety of tastes, budgets, interests, opinions and perspectives.

    If you find that there is a post you feel is a violation of our rules, please use the Report option at the bottom of every post to flag it for our moderators to take any actions that are required.

    For a quick refresher, here is the applicable part of our rules (which you can find in a sticky in the Admin Announcements section):
    Users are expected to show respect for each other. Members can disagree with each other without being disagreeable. That means that we don't threaten, defame, troll, or insult each other. Messages that are determined to be personal attacks by VMB administrators/moderators will be deleted and an infraction will be issued.

    As we are all adults here, some colorful language is acceptable, however excessive use of profanity should be avoided. Posts that disparage any person or group because of their race, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual preference or religion may be deleted or edited with or without prior notice..

    Comments that are not productive additions to the conversation may be deleted without notice. VMB encourages witty banter and humorous discussions, however "snarky" answers to sincere questions are not helpful and may be removed. For example, when someone asks what to do with their kids and you suggest Disneyland, you are not helping. If you do not have a helpful comment or productive addition to add to a thread, please refrain from sharing it with us    .

    IMHO, everything that you do is a matter of personal choice, motivated by the experience of the individual.

    As an example, there are people who take a comp limo ($75 each way, plus $20-$40 tip each way), when a rental car would be much cheaper. I enjoy the freedom of having a car, I am allowed to go downtown whenever I please, or even to Laughlin. I don't drink alcohol, so drinking and driving isn't a concern. The comp value also allows me to take more comps on the backend.

    I don't have to pay for parking because of my level.

    I'm stupid for not renting a car. I'm smart for not having to pay $20 (or whatever) for parking.

    I'm stupid for being willing to stay at Hooters and Silver Sevens. I'm smart for not paying $200/night for MGM on the weekends.

    I'm stupid for moving away from both DC and Boston, areas where I loved living. I'm smart for moving to Ohio where you can still buy decent houses for $125,000

    We do what we do in Vegas for whatever reasons we choose. But we all still come here because we love the city

    I didn't see anyone saying that using a cab is stupid, or staying downtown is stupid.
    People do say some of the cab drivers cheat those innocent visitors, which is a fact.

    I am stupid for being old enough to know better and still repeating stupid behavior. now, as far as the message boards go, I consider it to be an informal open forum. we don't need to be perfect and we don't need the grammar police. we share our opinions, try not to take them as personal jabs, just take the info and move on. if find the VMB crowd to be much kinder and civil than some other forums. I have only been directly jabbed at a few times here, and for the most part I just ignore those trolls. so much great and useful info is shared here, and I don't want anyone to do anything to discourage that.
