AA out of O'Hare no problems. Arrived in Vegas 5:00 p.m. Got my rental and off to WYNN. Check-in was smooth.
We arrived on a Tuesday. Place was dead. I enjoy having the place to ourselves (wifey was with).
Had three free nights in a resort room with $200 slot credit. Got dressed and off to the Mirage for dinner
at Kokomos. Mirage has changed. Not sure if I like it since construction is not complete. Mirage use to be
my favorite hotel/casino, but WYNN has made a good impression. I stayed at WYNN the second week it was open
in 2005 in a salon suite. I had a bad experience. Wifey stepped on a carpet nail and ripped her toe open. Moths
were in towels (I killed two). Host services were non-existent. My table play wasn't documented properly. It
was an overall mess. I figured I'd never see an offer and wrote WYNN off. Then the offer came. I figured
stay for free and gamble at Mirage for a future offer. Anyway. Back to Kokomo's. Dinner was average, but
the price very above average. I got the prime rib and baked potato and wifey got crab legs and fillet. $180.00
total. Food was average like I said. Had better meals which I'll descibe later. Finished dinner and hit the casino.
Tried some slots to start out. I like TOP DOLLAR and PINBALL and don't play anything else. I'm addicted
to the bonus rounds. Dropped $700 real quick. Went to the craps table and started doing well. Was up $800.
It only took two shooters to completely wipe out that gain. Back to WYNN. Wifey up to bed. Blackjack for me.
Betting $50 to $125 per hand. Started playing head to head. Was doing ok. This guy then sits down. Starts
splitting face cards and standing on 15s and 16s. Some people don't care about THE RULES of blackjack, but if
you want a chance to win, you need to follow them. I could have left, but just lowered my bets since I saw
he had few chips left. I liked the dealer. He finally lost everything. I played head to head some more. I was
wining. Three guys sit down. We all start talking and agreeing on play. We basically worked the table like a
team. Everyone won. I won about $2000 another $5000 another $3000. It was just beautiful how we were working
the table. Then shift change. Here comes an Asian dealer. Now I'm not prejudice against Asians, but these
people kill me at the tables whenever they're dealing. We all start laughing at the poor guy. "Oh no! They
brought out the cooler!". I tell him "You've got three hands to prove yourself. Three loses and we're all out!".
Everyone was laughing histerically. We count out loud. First hand. That's one! Everyone loses. We all are
laughing still. Second hand. That's two! Everyone loses. We are all laughing harder. Third hand. That's three!
Everyone loses. We all push in our chips to color up at the same time laughing histerically. It was 2 a.m. I hit
a craps table. One table open @ $25. I get the dice and hit 6 points. Won about $800 and others much more.I
sit at a Pinball slot machine to relax and not have to think. I play 5 hours on this thing. End up breaking
even. I would be down $500 then up $200 and down and up. Like a roller coaster. At 7 a.m. I got some coffee
and a muffin for wifey and went to the room for her wake-up call. We were going to visit GVR and Red Rock Resort
today.
Took off at 7:30 a.m. Hit Vegas rush hour. Took a while to get to the 215. Got to GVR in half hour or so from
WYNN. This place looked really nice on the tv show, but I didn't feel comfortable there. They do not have a
wide selection of slots, No bonus games really like Pinball or Top Dollar. 90% Video Poker. Very tailored to
locals. I do believe it's a 5 diamond, but not my style. Allot of dark wood and green colors. Pool was very
average. Off to Red Rock. 215 the other way. Took 45 minutes. This place is cool. I like the casino layout
and feel. Same slot and video poker as GVR though. Not good for me. Played the big Weel of Fortune slot. $4
per spin! Had no idea what was going on. Spun the weel a couple times. Ended up losing pretty quickly. This
is a novelty game. Ate at FATBURGER. Was ok. Off to MGM for massages. Have had spa treatments at WYNN, Mirage,
and many other hotels, but heard MGM was nice. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are staying here. This place
is way TOO BIG. Took 15 minutes to get from the gaqrage to the SPA. I saw people walking through the mall
to get to the pool. Not fun with strollers and kids. WYNN has the POOL/SPA floor where you avoid all the
chaios. Most of the newer hotels are built this way. The SPA itself is dated. The therapist was great. Not
sure what she did to me as I passed out cold from being up 30 + hours. Back to WYNN for HERTZ dropp-off. That
was it for us on the sightseeing. One day. The rest will be local. Drop-off no problem. Blackjack for two
hours while wifey gets ready for dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. We ate outside. Very hot out at night. Still close
to 90 degrees. Dinner was ok. Tried the French Onion Soup everyone raves about. The price was good for the food
and service you receive there. Off to Mirage for blackjack. I buy in for $500. There's a guy playing at third base
who had too many coctails. He excuses himself to go to the restroom and leaves his chips scattered in a pile.
When he returns he claims that there were more red chips in his pile when he left and that he's missing chips.
The pit boss comes over takes down the guys info and bullshits with hime for a minute. They never did anything
I'm sure. This guy was loaded. We'll call this guy DICK for purposes of the following dialog between him and I.
There are two guys between me and him. We're all doing well except for DICK. He's making stupid decisions and
losing. Then he stands on a hand that should have been hit. We all lose including him. I start busting his balls.
You should have hit that. Dealer would have busted. DICK "Why would I take a hit and bust? For you guys?" Me "oh?
Did you win that hand by standing on a weak hand? Have another coctail!" The guys between us are cracking up. I
normally don't say anything about someone's play, but I felt like he needed his balls busted. My wife comes by
and sits down. She explains she just put in a $50 and hit max bet on a multiline $1 video poker machine and her
$50 disappeared in one hand. We all start laughing. Me "It's ok babe. Mistakes happen.". Back to busting DICK's
balls. Dealer deals. We are all looking at our hands. I'm first to act. "Any hard decisions need to be made over
there?" This went on and on for some time. DICK didn't say a word. He took it for a couple of hands while
everyone laughed and got up and left after he'd lost almost all his money. I never do this, but he deserved it.
Won $800 and back to WYNN. Blackjack, craps and slots until 7 a.m. Back to room for a wifey wake up call. Hit the
buffet.
Hit the pool at 9 a.m. They have huge round bed sized pool furniture here. My wife grabbed one. It has an umbrella.
I slept on this thing for an hour. So comfortable. It's in the pool. I get up and hit there poolside blackjack.
Played head-to-head. Won $800. Was drinking frozen citrinade. Awesome drink. Laid down a little more. Swam a little.
Drank some more. Up to the room at 2 p.m. Go to Caesars. Wifey wantws a Coach purse. I say ok. She gets one. I pay.
Spago for lunch. I get the tuna in a pita. Excellent. Penn from Penn and Teller is seated next to us. Big guy. Off
to see the new part of the Forum shops. Who buys this stuff? Is it a shopping center or museum? How boring to have
to work in these shops. No big deal. I ask my wife if she'd like to play some $1 roulette at Casino Royale. She played
$100 at Mirage the night before and I called $10 on 17 and it hit. She likes this game for some reason so I humor
her at times. We walk into this place. What is that smell in some places? The roulette table is very worn. We buy
in for $50. 17 comes up in a few rolls we cash out up $30. I see that blackjack switch game and try it. Oh! What
a rip. You play two hands and have the opportunity to switch top pair. Dealer was killing. Lost the $80. Back to
WYNN. Relax. Dinner at Olives on the patio. Excellent. Always my favorite. Back to win for my last attempt to win
some more money. It was Thursday night. This place was rockin'. Unfortunately so were the dealers. I fought hard
for a couple hours. No dice. lost $1000 and up to bed. This was the first time I laid in this bed this trip. Very
comfortable. Woke up at 7:00 a.m. hit the buffet and off to the airport for souveniers. Spent the whole time
shopping and walked onto the plane. America West. We were in a desent to Chicago when the pilot took us up hard
and fast. He came out on the mic and said there was an unidentified flying aircraft nearby and wanted to keep
a distance. Unbelievable.
Awesome trip. WYNN has redeemed itself. I'm sure I'll be back on some offer. Won $2000 overall. VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!
