Maybe I stay at low end casinos, but there are never ice buckets at the ice machine. I get off the elevator, walk past the ice machine, go all the way down the hall to my room, get my ice bucket, walk back to the ice machine, fill the bucket, then back down the hall to my room. Why can't they just leave buckets by the machine?

Just my opinion. The hotel would have trouble making sure they are clean, or perhaps people would take them home. We stayed in a JW Marriott this year, they had little closets in the hallway with small bags of ice. No machine, no noise, no hot ice machine area.

keep a plastic bag with you and fill her up on the way to the room - you can carry a lot more than the bucket

Hotel ice makers: the only machines that pay out in Vegas.

I concur, storing ice buckets at the machine, even cheap plastic ones, would be more trouble than it's worth for a hotel.

The plastic bag is a good idea.

Just ask for extra ice bags and keep one in your pocket/purse...you can easily fill it and them plop it into the bucket when back in your room. I've done that many times at Aria with their crazy long hallways. Gamble, come back late, pop into ice room, fill bag, THEN go to room, no double trip :)

(Ack, sorry, just saw "Pleasemum" posted this as well...at least you see it's an idea that works!)

Ice bucket fezzes would be the newest fashion craze on The Strip!

All this ice bucket discussion is making me a little pail...

Not sure if it was on this forum. But I remember reading somewhere that ice machines are disgusting.

    Nice job.
Some Vegas bean counter is now running to his boss and suggesting to add an Ice Bucket or Ice Machine fee on top of the Resort fee. :wink2:

I remember one time staying at the plaza, I went to get ice and there were chicken wings sitting in the ice machine(on top of the ice), it was the old style where you open the lid and there's a large pile of ice inside, anyway, 3 days later when we were leaving i opened it just to see, yup they were still there.
