I Think I might like the Orleans. What do you like about it?

I just stayed there from Nov 20 -Dec4. I absolutely loved it. I loved all the food choices at the hotel, the volumes of table games & mins, and a warm & welcoming staff. My wife and I had a 1 bedroom executive suite, and was pleased to see it had been updated since the youtube videos I watched. Being a long time station casino guy, I am really considering change my home casino.

I had read some posts on here that some of the bar top video poker was 50 cent minimum? Is that true? I would like to stay but not if they limit to 50 cent mins (or is that just the better paying VP?). I mostly play 25c BP. I know there are probably better options on the floor but I prefer bar top.

I want to do a night off strip and deciding between Orleans, Gold Coast, Palms, or Hard Rock. Mostly looking to just dump some play into a property I havent played at yet to get a teaser offer for the future. I have done some hit and run at the downtown Boyd properties so I am not sure if that will hurt my chances with Orleans and Gold Coast. I know that Palms is on Station now so that might hurt my status as an out of towner. Hard Rock doesnt appear to have great VP per VPfree.

Room quality doesnt really matter for a night

Any thoughts? Appreciate the help from those off strip experts here :)

If you can't play 25c 8/5 BP (99.17%) on all the bartops except at the bar near the sportsbook (7/5 BP+prog. there), that's news to me. I definitely played 8/5 Bonus for quarters in Sept. at an Orleans bartop.

Maybe you're getting reports confused with Gold Coast? Their 9/6 JoB (99.54%) exists only at 50c or higher at the island bar.

I agree with tringlomane. I've never had a problem finding quarter BP at the bars. Yes, GC downgraded their 9/6 Job several years ago.

I think I was - I could've sworn I read some posts from earlier this year where someone might've given some wrong info about 50 cent minimums at Orleans. I knew it didnt sound right. I just checked VPfree again and saw 8/5 BP at most bars..

For those familiar with Orleans and their comps - do you know if spotty hit and run play at the downtown properties will affect numbers if I have never played at Orleans before? Or is play at Orleans independent of play at the downtown Boyd properties?

Thanks all for the silly questions

Downtown play should not affect your Orleans comps. Boyds treats downtown and off strip separately. Your points count at all. Most if not all future offers will come from your home casino you signed up with. So sign up where most of your play will be. You can change home casino through host. Can also do online, but there is a question if that really changes it.

@wishman35 of the four properties you listed I would rate in this order
    1 Orleans
    2 Orleans
    3 Orleans

It's a great off strip casino and they are happy to see you and appreciate your spending time and money with them.. their offers are also generous with average play

Octane - can you confirm what eagle said above? I see you hit the Cal - but maybe its tough to gauge if you get offers from both, but I have hit and run the Cal and MSS to death while doing my typical Fremont strolls and have never given solid play. I would like to give some decent play to Orleans because I think the girlfriend will enjoy it and it will be easier to convince her to join in the future :) I just dont want to waste my time if my ruined averages at MSS and Cal will hurt my chances with Orleans. I will probably give it a shot anyway. Have always wanted to stop in.

Thanks for all of the great advice.

The Orleans/Gold Coast properties are not tied to the downtown Boyd properties regarding comp offers. I'm mostly poker and sports betting and still get two-three night comp offers every month from both Orleans and California but can book them seperately for 4-6 night stays

    PS--they have a nice fitness center--spa-heated pool
