No, everything is fine. No problems with the hookup. Cable and Bluray opticals feed the soundbar. The same two, use two HDMI to feed the TV and now the RCA to mini adapter supplies audio from the cd player to the soundbar.

I now understand what a soundbar is. It has both processing and amplification mainly for use with A/V surround sound equipment. It takes the place of your surround sound receiver and speakers. It probably uses processing techniques like time and phase delay to get the surround sound experience without using surround sound speakers. I didn't know it had a 3.5 input, but apparently it does since you made it work.

Are you sure??? I just upgraded to a 55" Vizio Smart LED and sold my old Dynex (Best Buy generic brand) LCD. That LCD was 5-6 years old and had an optical out.

Optical out was actually more common 5 years ago. The set up he used should work just fine.

Take a look at the Bose solo sound system at costco. It has optical cords that go to my tv but I would need to check if anything else can be connected. Other than that, it's great.

Sorry, just read the rest of the thread. I do not have a clue what or how to do what everyone else is saying. But their advice is most likely better than mine on this subject.
